Fun with coincidences...

Surely OOG, since it's in multiple major newspapers, but in searching for the mysterious Dr. Abe, I found this posting of a New York Times' article on a crazy Japanese energy drink that's derived from pollen (which obviously is kinda-sorta-almost nectar) and reportedly has amazing effects, as studied by one Dr. Takashi Abe. Spooky.

Like I said, I did the follow-up and yes, it's a legit article that really was in the Times, the drink is legit, and its almost fad-like status in Japan was covered by many outlets. So it's not actually anything, but damn... whaddaya know...

That is really strange, Dr. Takahashi Abe in the article.....Dr. Hiro Takahashi of a day in the life of a YMR researcher from the Tagruato Corps web page......

From here:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21345

This word is very similar to Ravaille:
rev·eil·le (rěv'ə-lē) Pronunciation Key
n.

The sounding of a bugle early in the morning to awaken and summon people in a camp or garrison.
This bugle call or its equivalent.
The first military formation of the day.
A signal to get up out of bed.

[Alteration of French réveillez, second person pl. imperative of réveiller, to wake, from Old French resveiller : re-, re- + esveiller, to awake (from Vulgar Latin *exvigilāre : Latin ex-, ex- + Latin vigilāre, to awake from vigil, awake; see weg- in Indo-European roots).]

reveille

1644, from Fr. réveillez (vous) "awaken!" imperative plural of réveiller "to awaken, to wake up," from M.Fr. re- "again" + eveiller "to rouse," from V.L. *exvigilare, from L. ex- "out" + vigilare "be awake, keep watch" (see vigil).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To awaken...interesting.

Think maybe JJ saw this on his trip to Japan that inspired him to think we need 'our own monster'? Slusho changed from a simple Slurpee/Icee knockoff (as in Alias) to the energy miracle drink it is now, could this real product have inspired that change?

On another note, you are all obsessing over the search for the article, but have any of you...

Edit: I'd also like to note that the folks at that forum that locked the thread, be they 'IG' or 'OOG' (I suspect the latter) sanitized the word Slusho obviously, and more importantly lifted content from the Slusho Wiki http://slusho.suburbohemia.com/index.php?title=Slusho and obfuscated the the site's name as:

Jerkoffs.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Also, they are just flat out wrong. There are multiple returns on a search for Ravaille and Pantothenol also comes up with multiple entries.

The 2 respondents have plenty of posts there, so it is safe to assume they are OOG.

Lets stop speculating about specific words and search results, since we already found our clue. Its time to analyze the text. What could it mean, and what can we do to get more information about this? Maybe 5Pancakes could be Cloverfield's Rachel Blake...?

5Pancakes just sounds like a concerned mother/father. Beyond trying to PM them through the Science Forums site, I have to agree that we may have another Vernon MacDooble here. I'd be more likely to think we might get a look at the documentary video - the last time a video was hinted at in this game we found JamieAndTeddy.com and the video therein.

I've seen BooKoo at my local convenience store, though I've never had it. Knowing it's the best tasting energy drink might tempt me to try it, though I'm partial to my Bawls.

5pancake posted that scanned article about Tagruato and Slusho, so if it'd be fake, than very very professional. But I think, it is legit just because of good timing with "tagruato.jp".

Now we have two oppositional parts: Tagruato Corporation and Ravaille Research Center. Very interesting.
