[SPEC] Helicopter Crash
Why?

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere yet, but I've been watching the trailer and noticed something a little strange. From 1:47 to 2:01 (I d/l'ed the 720p quicktime trailer) it shows the scene with the helicopter spinning out of control, but I don't know how it could crash. Watching it frame by frame, you can clearly see that the helicopter does over one full 360 degree turn, during which you can see for at least a few miles until the horizon, except for where buildings are blocking. If the monster caused the crash, where is it? If it is so big, it should be able to be seen, and if its behind buildings, how could it have caused the heli to crash?

how about below/above the helicopter?

meaning it reached up to knock it down and made it spin outta control way over his head...

Not sure, but if you look, it's quite light out, seems to be well into morning when crash occurs. Must be one of the last scenes in the movie.

I thought the same thing too when i first saw the trailer. Even though theyre up in the air, u can still get a pretty good shot all the way to the ground . So unless its directly underneath them, you would see at least a little of it. Furthermore, if it was underneath it and hit it , it wouldnt cause the copter to fly upwards farther, it would send it sideways or down. Maybe were missing something , or could just be a slip up on their part

With the size of this monster, I think that any direct attack on the heli would cause way more damage then just making it go out of control. Would seem to me that the pilot becoming "infected" might cause the pilot to loose control.

Yea thats what i was trying to get at with what i was saying. Some people are trying to say that its underneath them, i say no way, that thing wouldve crushed the copter to a pancake. Unless maybe were all reading more into this than we should, and its some other reason that big bitch thats causing the chopper to go down. after all were just assuming that, you see the bridge going down and all but never actually see the creature causing it

Assuming that the monster isn't directly stalking any of the slusho 7, it's not foolish to think that any number of things could've caused the crash (military missiles, buildings falling, etc.).
Maybe rob's trying to fly the damn thing to get an infected beth out of the area and either fubar's massively or the military is given orders to shoot it down?

Yeah, perhaps the military has to blow the bridge in order to prevent any of the smaller things from getting out. Or is that too much like I am Legend to be used?

just thought of something..........there could be 2 different helichopters.....but the reason the one goes down during dawn (possibly) spinning out of control secondary to a nuclear blast?

Perhaps the monster pulled a King Kong, and jumped up and knocked out the stabilizer? With the numerous tentacle/quills theories going around, it's possible that either the monster is small but can jump high, and is directly underneath the helicopter, or it can attack at long range.

The military taking it down seems more plausible. Why they'd shoot off the stabilizer or knock it out of control instead of blowing it up the right way seems suspicious, though. That leads me to suspect that it's accidental, either how stugots suggested (but then where's the mushroom cloud?), or possibly by friendly fire from jumpy reservists who are still worried about infected people, or zombies, or whatever the outbreak is.

Our buddy seems to like to throw things like the heads of statues. Maybe the helichopter was "hurled" out of control far enough away to not get a good look during the spin.

I think the audio of that event might help to understand how it comes to happen. There's a distinct sound that's originating from outside the aircraft, because it's heard to go 'around' you in the stereo track. Every part of the aircraft in that shot that makes noise will stay in the same place relative to the camera, because they are moving as one.
