No, I doubt highly it's a nuke. Perhaps they find whatever it is weakest against, and drop a nasty weapon of some sort (firebomb or something) that does destroy a good chunk of the city, or at least the park (which is fairly large), but I doubt it's a nuke.

this is stupid.

A-if they nuked NYC the coloteral damage would be areas of new jersey, long island, among other areas.

B-why would they nuke it?

C-are you really considering this? and that the camera would survive?!

D-even if the camera does survive, the electro magnetic something or other would destroy the video, and audio, completly. in any picture we've seen of the characters holding the camera, its a mini DV camera, not only are they fragile to begin with, but DV= digital video. and lets say by some amazing miracle the tape survives, the camera would be melted, and the chips would be fried.

E-from the current stand point on how the movie is presented, there's no way to depict that there was a nuke.

F-the military wouldn't nuke NYC. (please dont start that conspiracy stuff) there are too many people in NYC, think about it. NYC holds not only people, but many MANY important things like oh i dont know the stock exchange?

G-if nuking it was an option dont you think they'd just do that from the begining?

I agree with Nooneimportant. Unless the monster was capable of killing the entire nation, which... with the biohazard suits MIGHT be a slight possibility, we would not destroy our own city like that. As many people said before, we MIGHT MOAB the thing if the monster completely destroyed all of NYC beyond repair already.

Even more so than the stock exchange, there is the Federal Reserve. Would be a bummer to nuke all that billions of dollars of gold. Very Happy

If you are nuking NY, you are trying to save what? The people of NYC? That doesn't help much. Nuking would be something to do if you felt this thing was going to go from city to city, and I think they would consider MANY other options before nuclear weapons if they thought this was a possibility.

I agree w/ noone above. It probaly wont end with a nuking for the reasons he provided. But you know what would be an f'ed up ending?

Rob and beth(or whoever it is) are under the bridge. He does his "im robert hawkins... etc" speil, and you hear the monster stomping, or whatever is going on at the time. And they Beth says i dont feel well, and she expands a little or something, and then the screen goes blue, and a white phrase flashes a couple of times. "No Battery"

In a way i do like that ending, but it reminds me too much of the ending of Blair Witch. Dont get me wrong, im one of the few people who love Blair Witch, but this movie seems so original , thats one of the things i love about it. Just would like an ending that is something new and fresh. But hell, thats just me
