If there was a modern nuclear device used, there would be no video recording to find, period. The trailer indicates by the fast forward and rewind effects that this is a magnetic media and pretty certainly a tape. Even if it WAS a hard drive or flash memory based camera, the electromagnetic pulse would create too intense a disruption of the magnetic orientation of such media. Hard drives, flash memory, and miniDV tapes (and basically all other tapes) are magnetic media, and use magnetic orientation of the media to save the information. Digital media is still affected, you are just erasing 1s and 0s instead of an analog stream of information. As for this being found in the future, I hope it's not too distant a future - because all of those media are magnetic, they degrade over time. Something you may not know is that the earth's magnetic field itself is slowly erasing all magnetic media as it 'gently tugs' on the orientation of the media, pulling all the particles back into a compass-like orientation with the magnetic poles.

Even if conventional bombing is used in a large scale, chances are they'd evacuate everyone they possibly could before letting loose. Considering the events of the movie take at least 7 hrs, I think it's more likely the total decimation of the city would be a result of the monster and the military's sustained attempts to defeat it - resulting in a LOT of collateral damage.
