[SPEC] Slusho Can't Cause Bursting People I am one of the folks who believe that Slusho! is the cause of the "bursting woman" talked about in another thread (about the new trailer). It was my belief that Slusho must cause a smaller monster to grow inside people and they burst forth to attack people...
But in researching the updated Tagruato site today I see that this is most likely impossible. According to the news item 'Slusho Ices Competition' on the Tagruato site, Slusho has become number 2 in Asia over the last two years . Why didn't we hear about people in Japan getting sick and bursting by now?
The idea of chemical warfare holds more water for me now...

Or, maybe the monster does something, or has something about it, that causes a reaction.

Yes. Otherwise it's just a massive coincidence.

I'm willing to buy into that if it turns out to be true. The whole issue of the Slusho website and it's part in this whole viral campaign seems lost to me with the idea that the drinks dont play some part in this. The cutesy website, the seabed ingredient, the monster from the sea, possible characters who had exposure to the drink, one exploding or having something explode out of her... it all fit together so well!
But I'm thinking now that this would have happened long ago if Slusho is being so hungrily slurped down in Japan the last couple years...

Is the Sea Bed's Nectar in the Pacific or the Atlantic (I'm really too lazy to check, myself, right now)?

Could have something to do with the reported parasites that are supposed to have hitchiked on the monster into the city?

i dunno about this, it seems really far fetched (i know, i know, its a movie, the big monster is far fetched too) but imo, some random slushy drink having a reaction to this big monster seems a little wierd to me...i can totally see the deep sea drilling having something to do with it all..but the fact that this drink would cause a possibly explosive reaction to the monster or its 'parasites' or whatever may take away from the whole supposed believability of the whole situation
just my 2 cents

I see your point, but I don't think that slusho alone is responsible for the exploding/infection. It has to be related to the arrival of the monster, or else why give us all this back story about tagruato and slusho? It has to be related to the story somehow. Something about the big monster attack combined with seabed nectar is, in my opinion, the cause for the exploding/infection.
(I know i'm not being very specific, but there is little evidence to go on.)

Ok, getting over my lazy streak and actually reading the Slusho! site's history, I'm assuming it'ss the Pacific...don't know what a Japanese company would be doing in the Atlantic.
So, would it be possible that the monster didn't stir for the first 2 years because it was in the Atlantic, while the "secret ingredient" is in the Pacific? That leaves a massive coincidence, though...that a substance from one region reacts to a monster from the other side of the world.
And, yes, the idea that the drink would react to the monster is a little awkward in and of itself.

I suppose. The Pacific just seems handier.

I think on the company site it says they have a drilling operation really close to NY, so there you go.

ok, that could work, lol...off to the company's site I go...
There's a drilling site on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. But, it says they drill for oil there...not Sea Bed's Nectar (unless they're hiding something *shifty eyes*).

I've figured out the plot!! Brand spanking new theory!
Marlena and the monster had a one night stand, resulting in an unexpected pregnancy, the monster rose from the depths to discuss child support payments. However, during his trip to New York he became excessively inebriated, and this movie is in fact a documented account of his resulting drunken antics. The two people in Haz Mat uniforms are in reality Doctors leading the pregnant Marlena to the maternity ward. The movie will end with a giant baboon (Not King Kong) presenting the newborn monster to the parasites in a scene reminiscent of The Lion King. (Proving that the man in the first teaser was shouting "It's a Lion!")
This is as funny as I get people, just deal with my lame jokes.
On a more serious note, has anyone confirmed that Marlena is in fact the woman exploding in the tent?

another theory too. since slusho is fairly new to the u.s. not everyone has had it. so maybe people who have not had slusho get infected and go *pop*. as far as this arg goes rob is still in the infant stages of promoting slusho. safe to assume only few people have tried it.
