Well, I'm not sure how I would go about using these numbers.
There is 1265.08.41 (unknown) 131.476-491 (Vol. #), and 482 (pg. #)
"unknown" is not a Japanese phone number, I tried it (dialed 81-3-1265-0841). And from what we've just found out, we're looking for a 4-digit #, and a password. I also heard something about the significance of the number '3912', though I don't know where that came from. At any rate, it's not the 4 digit number we're looking for. It's possible Togashi may answer on a weekday. If I don't call tomorrow hopefully someone else will Wink

That seems to be why she's answering now.
Well, I called and managed to get a recording with Audacity. The audio breaks up during the part where I'm given the options, but that's mostly irrelevant. When Togashi spoke, I asked in English, "Are you with Togruato?". She said the word "hai", meaning yes, at some point during the conversation, as you can hear; but that could've been to say 'yes, i am here'; not ' yes, this is tagruato';. I cannot make out the word Tagruato in her dialogue.

Here is the full recording: http://www.archive.org/download/TagruatoAnsweringMachine/TagruatoMesseji.mp3

Hmm. Interesting, but I'm having flashbacks to Iris (the Halo 3 ARG).
There was a phone number with pre-recorded messages, and someone found that by pressing a certain key you were prompted for a password, but that password ended up being for the voicemail and entirely OOG. We might be getting sidetracked here too.

Although if this voice mail is referencing Tagruato, I think this would hold more weight of being IG compared to Iris where it didn't really reference anything related.

Not ruling anything out yet though.

I'm gonna try and make sense of the numbers posted on an odd comment on the Effect's site, as noted here:

this whole phone thing is awesome. absolutely awesome. whoever said this game was not going to get interesting was a liar. A LIAR! We need someone who can speak japanese.... from prior experience, hinoai (the uF member) is your man. Also check back to the very first Japanese 1-18-08 picture translation thread... there was someone else who could speak japanese, but I dont have the time right now to find them. Good luck all.

I'm not entirely clear on what people have been doing to get the message, but I listened to the last one (with the girl answering).

I can't understand the beginning because it's too garbled, but nobody needs to worry, because the japanese part is just saying the exact same thing as the english. Asking for an extension number if you want to retrieve your voicemail, and to put in your password, etc. The reason that the person at the end answered the phone was because you didn't do anything, so it transferred to the "operator", I would imagine.

So I imagine that if you can figure out the password, some cool pre-recorded messages might come up. Razz

LOL I just called the number myself so that I could hear the beginning. Again, it's an exact translation in japanese of what's said in english for the most part. Yes, they do reference Tagaruto and ParafFun.. They basically say that they're experiencing a high volume of calls, so they'd like you to leave a message. It actually doesn't matter if you leave a message or not, because it doesn't actually record one. The japanese message that plays after a few moments merely asks you to press 1 if you'd like to send the message, etc. I tried to send and it took me to another menu asking me to press in an extension number. Because I did nothing, it just hung up on me.

Okay, I also got the girl now (if you press three and then enter a random number when it asks you for a password), and I think it's actually a live person.. maybe? Or it might be an automated message system designed to say things when you talk. I didn't know what to say, so I stayed quiet and she just kept saying "moshi moshi?" ("hello?") a few times, and finally hung up on me. (I guess I'm rude, but I had no idea what to say!)

Anyone have any suggestions of what to say to her? I can speak japanese but don't really know what to ask. I would feel so stupid if it was a real person unrelated! Or if someone else wants to call, maybe you could ask something?

Here's some ideas of what to say to her. She is a live person, I spoke to her in English, she doesn't seem to be fluent. <_<

Most important, just ask what company you have reached. I've heard her say she's a receptionist. Or you could just say:
"Is this Tagruato?"

But the sky's the limit from there. I'm not experienced in talking with NPC's in alternate reality games.
"I wanted to know about your parafFun recall?"

If it's acknowleged that she's from Tagruato, ask something like:
"Your website looks like it's been hacked. What are you doing to address this?"

"Is there some way to communicate with Ravaille Research Center?"

"I have concerns about your ingredient "Seabed's Nectar". Is there anyone I could speak with about this?"

Something like that....just one of those, but it's most important to find out if she's IG or OOG. Thanks for all the help tho. I was going stir crazy trying to figure out if this was a wild goose chase or not. ^-^;;

I think you should ask her about the paraffun recall, that you need more information on that, why are they recalling it...

Wow, those are great ideas! But I'm too nervous, would anyone else want to do it? I can try to work up my nerve, but I've always hated talking to people on the phone that I don't know (in any language)..

You have to do it! You speak Japanese! It is your mission! Very Happy

Don't worry about anything, the worst that can happen is that she's not an NPC and puts the phone down.

Ask her who you're speaking to first, so we can get a name if she's an NPC, which I suspect she is.

Ask her if she works at Tagruato.

Ask her about the Paraffun recall like the others said.

Ask her about the Ravaille Research Center review as you're a worried consumer of Slusho!

Take your time and think about your questions, if she's real then she'll be patient with you.

See if you can get some info like the whereabouts of that video of the old woman, tell her you read about it in the review.

See if you can get her to give you some websites.
