[SPEC] Pixelated face of soldier... The pixelated face of the soldier in the trailer is to protect the identity of this "well known actor", for safety reasons concerning the secrecy of this film. I have read in other post that his face is not shown because of government purposes, but thats not true.

That makes no sense. Why put this shot in the trailer in the first place?

Where are u getting this info that its a well known actor and thats why its a secret. You gotta come with a little more than just hearsay or whatnot. What proof or evidence do u have to back this up?

I'm not buying it. Sorry...if I'm wrong I'll bump this thread on 1/18/08 with my apologizes. If you want to keep a "famous" actor's involvement in a movie a secret until its release, you don't put him in the trailer at all. It's not like the 2-3 second scene was integral to the trailer. It could have been cut out and another clip put in its place.

Why would they wanna go and do that, that would mean publicity and more people going to see the movie. This is the future of movie promotion , dont tell anyone whos in it, till after it comes out

To cause more hype for the movie, the same reason why we are talking about this topic in the first place, thats what they want. My guess is he is making a brief cameo appearance in the film.

You need a specific program to do it, not sure which

I know for a fact that u can do this. Just saw a report on the news a few weeks back, bout the FBI unswirling the face of a pedophile in his sick fuck pics he had taken with kids. He had swirled the face to block his image and they "somehow" were able to unswirl it, so im sure it would work for pixels the same way. Now granted, i dont know if this technology is available to the general public, at least thats the way the news report made it sound, that it was some secret way they had discovered

Swirling and pixelating are 2 different processes. When you 'swirl' an image, all of the data is there, it is just re-arranged. Pixelating strips data from the image which you mostly cannot get back. Some is recoverable, and it does depend on the type and size of the pixelation.

The question is, can anybody see the face of other military personnel? Because if you can it suggests that this guy is special, but if you can't it lends credence to the idea the military is trying to protect its members identity.

Not sure about the uniformed ones, but the scene with the exploding woman shows a guy sitting at his desk working and they dont block his face. Im almost convinced that this will be explained as the military covered his face up when they did the edit of the tape after finding it to protect his identity, for some unknown reason, IE classified status, etc.

Yes.. soldiers walking by during the girl-expansion scene.
Also the soldiers attacking grumpy pants.
