[spec] Moments of calm and extent of damage...

Two questions have been getting to me lately, why are their a few moments of total calm and quiet in the trailer and also, how far inland does the monster get?

My theory is the monster came from water, and needs to head back every once in awhile, why else would they just be casually walking around at all? Also, I think this means it doesn't really go for more of the country or world other than NYC.

Thoughts? This could make for a weird part in the movie when the monster first heads back into the water, perhaps they think it leaves for good?

Very possible! Manhattan is a very large city, even if the monster or monsters are far away one would still be able to hear them. You would think that they would spend their time trying to get out of the city, but so far it doesn't seem that way.

Good questions.

There has to be some reason why they are walking through the city so calm. If there was a monster attacking, I would not be walking down the middle of the street. I'd be hiding somewhere underground.

And why is the city so empty at that point?

The city would be empty because people were escaping, of course. I wouldn't hang around if there was a giant monster wrecking my neighborhood.

I'm guessing the reason everything is so calm at that point is because of either A: the monster went back into the ocean, or it's holding still, and/or B: it's a moment of calm before the storm. It's probably calm because in the next moment something big is going to happen.

If this is true, why is Central park site 447 in the US. Me thinks this thing has turned up else where.

I agree. They are moving into destroyed areas to find beth. In the promo pictures and the trailer they find beth in a destroyed apartment and are moving togeather through a hallway with destroyed walls.
