so the meaning on dictionary.com comes up with:

"the apparent displacement of an observed object due to a change in the position of the observer."

hmm

One thing about AKAParallax... Why WOULD it be in-game? We've had nothing leading to it anyway. Where did it come from?

This email is interesting but let's ask the question, why?

It may be that they are simply trying to imply that these companies, which project an image of providing benefits for mankind, are when viewed from a different "position" (i.e., someone in the position of being an environmentalist), instead very harmful to mankind. In other words, the companies appear very different depending on how you look at them.

I found about it in this thread:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21391&highlight=akaparallax&start=45

I've been checking it every week or so along with the other sites.

I cant find it now, but I remember a post that linked the tracks to drilling platforms.

I agree. There's was no reason to think this site is in-game, up to this point.

Has anyone else noticed that on akaparallax if you go to the site now and Don't play the music there is a noise that plays about 6 times in a row with a 4-5 second delay in between that sounds almost like a growl or monster-like grumble? I don't remember hearing this before. It almost sounds like those underwater soundwave recordings (like the famous Bloop) they make slowed down.

to Cloverfieldclues: they thought akaparallax was related due to the fact that it is on the same server as the Jamie and Teddy video website and contains something VERY MUCH like The Cause we were looking for. Seemed like too big of a coincidence so people were speculating up until this point.

to everyone:

Now I am fully convinced that this is IG

Reasons
#1 - Same server
#2 - Content of the site
#3 - Monster Noises on site
#4 - dumboSPLATakaparallax.com gives us an automated reply that is definitely about Cloverfield
#5 - Strange song content and ambiant noises in the songs.

Also I wanted to post this specific Quote from Johnlocke ( I am not sure who he is quoting it doesn't say in the original thread) just to catch everyone up with what has been dug up on akaparallax.com

Quote:
guess my point of research that has gotten me nowhere is akaparallax.com just watching it being updated. Found the link on another site and it was the only one I bookmarked to check the status of the site from time to time. I was interested because the person said they found it on the same server as the jamie and teddy site. LINK

FLAGS
First it was the Naval Ensign of Japan
Second an American flag was added
Third a British flag was added
Fourth it was the Russian flag (plus stuff from the Sierra Club: see below)

Quote:
Big Oil has been raking in billions in profits but apparently not investing anything that would help it meet environmental and safety standards. Their negligence and sloppy monitoring and maintenance are more reasons to think twice when Big Oil says 'trust us' as they try to open up America's coastal waters to destructive oil drilling.

Recently, BP had to shut down the Prudhoe Bay oil fields in Alaska. This shutdown comes on the heels of the single largest oil spill ever on Alaska's North Slope, when a corroded BP pipe dumped 267,000 gallons of oil onto the frozen tundra. BP also recently was forced to shut down 12 oil wells after whistleblowers revealed that more than 50 wells, most of which are in the Prudhoe Bay area, were leaking.

In fact, the Prudhoe Bay oil fields and Trans-Alaska Pipeline have caused an average of 504 spills annually on the North Slope since 1996, according to the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC).

There is approximately 6200 miles of active pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico constructed or approved prior to 1982. To put that in context, there are 1200 active pipelines in the Gulf that are at least 25 years old.

Industry's track record with offshore drilling is ugly. Offshore drilling platforms and pipelines spilled 1.8 million gallons of oil in U.S. waters from 1990-1999 in 224 reported accidents – that's an average of almost 500 gallons a day2. Additionally, offshore operations produce 214,000 pounds of air pollutants each year, and tens of thousands of pounds of mercury have been dumped around Gulf oil rigs.

The Sierra Club

The songs are strange
Before clicking on any songs and playing them there is sound in the background that sounds like sonar. It plays 6 times then stops.

Hands Remix - "The clock on the wall reads a quarter past midnight..." (I like this song a lot, lol)
Chemical Remix - You can't make me close my eyes
Alliance Remix M72 (at first I thought it was a weapon) - talks about having only this moment.
FPSO Remix - FPSO stands for Floating Production Storage and Offloading - talks about lies, disease, another world is born.
IOPD Remix - IOPD stands for Integrated Ocean Drilling Program, just music - very somber. Then the end you hear frogs and some growling and splashing like something is getting out of/in the water. (4:25)
M71 House Remix - Meet your maker, the rooftop coming down, this property is condemned - Looking to the November sky - waiting for science - piece of history.

I first thought the M72 was of course a weapon, then I listened to M71 and it mentions looking at the sky. I googled it and pulled up that M71 is a cluster of stars. I looked up M72 is a cluster of stars as well.

M71 - Messier 71
NGC 6981
Saggita

M72 - Messier 72
NGC 6838
Aquarius

Both are globular clusters

Now you may ask how I thought of stars, well I looked up aka parallax and as defined on the main page:

The apparent displacement of an object caused by the change in the position from which it was viewed.

Could be totally unrelated, who knows I just thought it was interesting, lol. My brain over thinks things way too much sometimes.

EDITED: Listened to the IOPD song again and again. Their is subtle background noise that sounds as if a really large creature is roaring in the far off distance.

Googled "aka Parallax"

... the one thing that kept coming up was in reference to Hal Jordan, of Green Lanter comic fame.

Right, AKA Green Lantern, AKA the Spectre. I was thinking the same thing. Thanks to Hud we have plenty reason to think in terms of comics at this point.

(Not that I'm convinced that AKAParallax is IG. Not yet, at least....)

Could anyone in touch with Hud on myspace bring up Hal/Green Lantern? see if there's any kind of special interest there?

Okay, just listened to the IOPD song on akaParallax, and I don't know if my ears are playing tricks on me, but at around 4:37, and again at 4:49, and again at around 5:00, I swear something that sounds suspiciously like our Cloverfield monster can be heard in the background - I think it may even be ol' Grumpypants, though it is a bit of a stretch. I don't think it's just, as heytheyfoundabody said, a large creature. Can others check it and see if my ears do not deceive me?

I'm really not convinced. akaparallax doesn't mention tagruato anywhere. Besides that it's very unprofessional, theres no reason to assume that a site against big oil is IG: there are many real ppl in the real world who hate big oil too. by this logic, www.kicktheoilhabit.org is IG too, cuz they hate big oil, too. so the argument that it was created before tagruato was found is moot, unless it mentions specifically tagruato or yoshida.
The server thing is ridiculous. I can't remember it exactly, but there was this story about a company, or maybe a blog, that was hosted by the same server that hosts a neo-nazi site. People started speculating (like we're doing here) and criticisizing and the owner of the site/blog said that that server holds thousands of different sites; they have no connection to the neo-nazis, nor any control over who's on the server.
And the auto reply probably means that AKA Parrallax googled themselves to see where they are on the google result page, found uF, followed along and then tricked us. Again, i keep stressing this, think as if they're in game; if the Cause wanted to contact us, wouldn't they say something significant, instead of just repeating what we can see for ourselves?
And the "weird songs" thing, i'm not even going to address.
