Does anyone else agree that we should point Jade in the direction of the brightonearly website? It seems that he is our best choice for help right now.

It's worth a try. Right now, I'm so confused on where this game is heading and where it's come from I don't know what to do. But we want know if it's the wrong way to go until we try. So go for it.

But then again, I get the feeling that Brighton Early is sharing valuable info with us, that we couldn't get anywhere else, and doesn't want to be contacted directly. It's possible that she/he is employed at WF and/or is the one who sent the 0701 messages. It would make sense, if she/he is trying to make us aware of/warn us of whatever the hell is going on. Heck I don't know the plot well enough to even know what I'm talking about.

It's difficult to know for sure, but I don't think Jade is directly involved in this matter at all, except as a personal friend to Ethan. It's seems that we have been steered, as someone else put it, toward Jade as our only hope for making progress since we've been told to keep Ethan out for now. I get the feeling that Jade is neutral and objective enough to be our helper right now.

The only other possibility (that I can think of) is that Jade is a part of the occult group doing the rituals, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself of that.

Like I said, I'm confused and don't know the plot all that well but I'm trying to re-read and hopefully I will figure it out.

Sure email Jade. I know I and I'm sure others would like to know his take on it.

If Jade is the same Jade from the Autumn Country stories....that isn't at all likely, but who knows? Smile

A thought about MSG4 while exploring another page on the unForums...

By the way, if you haven't read the thread that rand0m started to explain how he found the cube stolen from Perplex City, it's worth an hour out of your life to read. I've already navigated away from the page, but you can find it with a search for "random" and "cube" on this website.

Anywho, this query from one of the players who nearly beat rand0m to the cube location got my attention:

Quote:
Sadly we got to the right spot the day after Rand0m having wasted too much time in Fineshade. We eventually concluded that the amino acid clue was giving us FEARLESS and GOOD which are the names of 2 of the Dukes of Burgundy (between 2 BOLDS). Since Wakerley is the Wood known for its Duke of Burgundy butterflies, we refocussed our search for quadrupeds to there, but alas too late!

Fearless and Good were the descriptors given to two of the Dukes of Burgundy. Hey! We have a "Duke of Manchester" just begging to be solved! If you go to Wikipedia you will find that all of the dukes are named Montagu. Is this significant? Who knows, but maybe this is a fresh angle that will get us on the right track.

edited for clarity

What cube? Rand0m? Huh?

I sent an email to Petra/Kelly. Created a Y! account using the surname I'd given Ethan (kuolevaisuus, not available anywhere else on the Internet as far as I know). Emailed her saying I spotted her on Y! Profiles. Her name reminded me of the site in Jordan. Does she like Arabian archaeology.

I hope it came off more like I'm some creepy e-dater than some creepy ARG person probing for information. No response yet.

I'm totally lost as to the plot. Up until now I haven't had a problem keeping track of details (plenty of problems solving puzzles, but that's another story). But I'm getting kind of lost. Too many characters fond of their anonynomity.

Anyone else notice that BrightonEarly used the plural "we"? And he wasn't referring to us, he was referring to his own associates. At least that confirms that BO is part of a group.

BO hasn't replied to my two latest comments on the wordpress site yet.

And I decided to stir the pot with Spearmint some more. (Yeah, spearmint has me nailed, dead to rights. I'm so transparent. Like an open book. Written in Finnish...don't ask.)

ETA: Jade also hasn't replied.

The endgame to Perplex City. Sorry. I left out that detail (and edited it so as not to confuse others). It's a good story; you should look it up.

So, eh... anyway, Montagu...

I'll be awake for a bit longer if you want to join the IRC channel and chat.

ETA: fair enough. I should, too. Long day behind me.

Got to go to bed. I just checked back w/ unFiction one last time, because, you know, I'm addicted to this stuff.

Going to bed this time... really.

Ok I didn't mention this earlier because once again i thought everyone knew.

Djinn = genie

Genie is the anglicised version of Djinn. There was a mention in someones post earlier that spirits could be called and contained in a circle or vessel....such as a lamp. Am I imagining that? Is this where the Arabian Nights meet the creation mythology? Are we looking for a lamp? Smile

While a lot of people do know that, it doesn't hurt to make it explicit, dashcat.

Your speculation is as good as anyone's. I think we need more research and then some more direction from Ethan, BO, or Reality Now, to know which track this is following. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm having more and more trouble discarding irrelevant facts and connections.

I was totally fixated on that John Dee stuff, and now it looks like we're being pointed away from the Western lore. Maybe we are looking for where the different stuff converges.

I mean, Enlil is Babylonian, but he's considered by some to be part of the Cain and Abel story (Enkidu, his brother was supposedly Cain).

ETA: I emailed Jade the link and password to BO's site. Jade said he'd check it out and called spearmint a self-righteous jerk. My hunch is that while it's possible Jade is affiliated with Reality Now, it's unlikely. He doesn't seem evangelical enough about his skepticism to fit in with Spearmint's crowd. If he is affiliated with BO, no harm. If he's not affiliated with BO, then I think we'll get a fresh perspective, and still no harm.

Yellowcard, so do you think the "Duke of Manchester" has more relevance than just the fact that the 4th Duke of Manchester was the Grand Master of the first great lodge of Freemasons in England?

If a genie is a anglicized version of Djinn is it plausible that Djinn could be "demons" as well?

Edit:

-added crap-

This is just more speculation, but here:
http://altreligion.about.com/library/glossary/bldefdjinn.htm

It says that Djinn are fiery spirits....and in the Autumn country story the control of fire is mentioned. Briefly, but it is mentioned....and whoever was heating the iron needed something to heat it right? But nothing was ever visible except some matches...which I am pretty sure can not heat up metal that quickly, and enough to make it glow orange....so maybe whoever was doing this is a Djinn?

reply from Petra

well, I got a reply from Petra and she is as rude as Spearmint is. I guess I didn't ask the right questions because I didn't get much to go on. I hope you do better that than I did mort.

I'll repeat what I sent, so we will all be on the same page.

Subject: match book

hello,

My name is Sylvia. I work with a group called the UnCollective. We investigate sights that have paranormal activity or the potential for such activity. Recently, while on a case we found a match book from Bats Taxi with your email address written on the inside flap.

The match book was partially burnt and looks like a struggle may have taken place where it was found near 47th Ave and 14th ST. N. in St. Petersburg, Florida. I was wondering if you could give me any insight about the person who dropped it. I fear that he may have been abducted by someone or could be seriously hurt. He may also be able to give us some insight into the case we are investigating.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sylvia

And this is her reply:

Sylvia,
Paranormal, huh? So you're friends with Philly? What's he done now? No, nevermind I don't give a damn. Sounds like he's playing drama queen again. Mysterious disappearance, right? Not the first time from what I hear. Hey, if my e-mail was in that matchbook of his how'd you get it?
P

Well the guys name is Philly, short for Phillip, maybe?? And he is known to disappear enough so that no one would be worried about him, that's not good. I'll think about this for awhile then I will send a reply.

I don't really know if it does. However, I do know that we have looked all over those four pages of 0701 trying to fit them together but we have come up short. We need some new perspective. I ran across the Duke of Burgundy thing and thought that could be a fresh angle to take with our ARG.

A Google search search of "Montagu Whitechapel" has many hits, but I didn't find anything relevant. Someone else might look it over for clues, or perhaps Google something else.

The Enlil/Abel stuff is complicated, from what I've seen. There are different connotations. While Abel is seen as something like an innocent bystander, Enki and Enlil seem to have been active rivals. If this is accurate, Enlil is the bad guy from humanity's perspective.

Here's my thought: right now we have a lot of stuff floating around. I'm having trouble keeping track of it all. The Whitechapel site is fine in so far as it goes for the stuff that we've verified. It's not so good for keeping tabs on all the speculative stuff we find. We're also specializing a lot more, focusing on the aspects of this that are most interesting to each of us as individuals.

Maybe it's time to request a Despoiler wiki? That way everything can be compiled and readily accessible in one place that we control.

Also, if anyone comes up with something they think is relevant and one of the characters might have insight, feel free to contact them yourselves. Smile Just be sure to let us know what you find out. Until we meet a character that insists on talking to one of us, we can all interact to our heart's content; there's no monopoly. If you'd rather let someone else do the interaction, that's fine, too. Ask and someone will be happy to do it for you.

Jade wrote:
Hey there, Mort.

Well, isn't that quite a little bit of something. Not sure why you shared it with me either; but I do dig a good mystery.

Saw the comments to Brighton, sounds like he's trying to keep himself out of the limelight. Has he tried to get any info out of you guys? If not, then maybe he's doing what he says, just sharing information and trying to keep a low profile.

Not that I'd know anything about that kind of thing, but I agree that, seen from one perspective, that guy could have been snatched. Not sure if you've ever seen anyone Tazed, but that would not be out of the realm of possibility for the dive that he takes on the video. That implies, though, that there was someone in a location that would allow them to zap the guy.

He could just as easily have had backup, though. I don't go in for this hoodoo at all, but I do know that when I am doing something that I think might be risky, I like to have who can haul my ass out of trouble. Without any other evidence, this seems more likely.

Man, pretty weird stuff all around. Just did a quick search on local news from the past week and there's no mention of anything that looks related to this. Have you guys put anything else together? Anyone talk to that Petra yet?

If it's not too much trouble, let me know if you hear anything else on this. I'm intrigued.

Jade

Sylvia, I didn't get that impression from Petra/Kelly's email she sent you. She certainly volunteered information willingly. And she only seemed passingly concerned about your identity.

Haha, no I'm not interested in arabian archeology. You like the name Petra huh? Are you greek?

I spotted you on Yahoo! Profiles. I love the name Petra. Reminds me of city carved into a canyon in Jordan. Do you have an interest in Arabian archaeology?

Well, I'm not going to say I'm Finnish, don't want her running my name through a translator and figuring out my identity. Kuolevaisuus isn't that great a pseudonym for Mortality. She asked if I'm Greek because her last name is Cristanos according to the email.

I think I'm going to imply that what I like about Arabian history and all those ancient sites is the lore associated with them. Ya know...Djinn? Very Happy
