[SPEC] Will there be any toys or models for the monster? I was just "looking for clues" online (as my 9 year old son calls it) and he asked me if there will be any toys, or action figures of the monster? Good question I told him! So I figured I would pose the question to my fellow cloverheads. Will there be any toys, models or action figures of the monster? If so who would produce them and would they already be made in preparation for the release of the film. I know the budget for the film is low and may not account for this sort of thing. What do you think?

I definitely think they'll make some action figures, if not toys for the monster. However, with the super hush-hush factor, I'd assume that licensing for such objects would go to a super el cheapo third world company, and would probably not recieve commission until after the initial release.
I mean, come on. They make action figures for everything. And we know what crap they can be. Even if the monster is a giant turtle in a bunny suit, they'll still be replicas somewhere. I mean, look how many freakin' Slusho shirts we bought. I think the marketing peeps aren't going to be able to resist.

i think since it is pg-13 and geared toward a more universal audience i thinbk it is likely there will be action figures (asuming we get to really SEE the monster in the movie)

There will be models of the monster, there always are some, but I don't know if they'd be mass produced.

Heck, I'd make one in Woodcarving class if I had too, depending on what the monster looks like, I definitely want a model of one.

We'll probably get glimpses of him, and maybe one or two really quick full shots.
But I'm sure JJ will release some kind of render of it later after the movie.

If JJ wants this to be a successful franchise then I do think we'll clearly see the monster. Wouldn't make sense to base a monster movie franchise on what "we think the monster looks like".

LOLZZZZZZZZZ
And to all you non-believers out there who think well see the monster, who is Jacob from lost? And what the fu.. (pg-13)is the smoke monster?
He leaves us with mysteries, and hell leave us with the greatest of all time. It will be magnificent, and many people will be pissed and jj'll loose a lot of $$$ but ill be happy.

I'm sure something will appear. There is a comic book store by me that stocks almost everything, in the form of ready made models, power rangers figures (the original ones), Batmans to Lady Death Snowglobes.
I bought an Angel puppet there last year (from the defunk Josh Wheaton show). I would bet that some form of the monster will show up there.

He's going to show the monster, one way or another, otherwise this whole ARG and everything will fail. He'll lose way too much money. Etc.
Maybe not a FULL SHOT of the monster, but enough that we can piece it all together in photoshop.

He's already sold out with the PG-13 rating, so he'll sell out by letting us see the monster as many times as we please.

Yeah, the PG-13 rating is DEFINITELY a sellout, so I WOULDN'T be surprised to see Grumpypants Supaa-Kung-Fu Action!!! figures (Severed SOL(tm) Head(tm) Sold Separately) appear to complete the sellout.
SHOULD this movie have action figures or other merchandising...? HELL, no. This movie wasn't designed as a franchise; it was designed as an experiment in non-traditional marketing. So action figures and playsets and coffee mugs and bedsheets and lunchboxes (i.e., traditional marketing) would be an essay in hypocrisy on JJ's part.
I hope to god JJ doesn't sell out, but it looks like he is.
