They would be able to create a shelter before the monster came.

Now, if it came to Halifax, where I am (or Toronto, for that matter, but Halifax is handier, being on the Atlantic coast and all), that would be rather interesting.
I'm planning on invading my friend's dorm room after the movie comes out so I can shoot some video and take some pics from his top floor, harbour-facing point-of-view.
And, btw, I like how the mention of a 2km-wide hole in Chicago falls right in with the norm around here, lol...that's awesome. Can't do that most places.

everyone's got a pirated copy of photoshop these days, right? we better all be cranking out some cloverfield mayhem in our hometwon. that would be cool to see.
anyone who has some good source photos of their area, put them up for those of us, like myself, who'd like to do a bunch of these.

I live in Georgia, the monster could totally...uh, attack Atlanta? Pssh, good luck. There's no water here anyway, and he probably can't afford to have graffiti washed off of his scales every couple of hours.

I had a dream last night where I was watching Cloverfield in the movie theater. It was AMAZING, btw. Well, my dream version. But then the city I was watching it in (whatever that is) was attacked XD. And there were little monster-like monsters and everything else is really vague but I definitely killed a few.

Strange, I had a dream two nights ago where I was watching Cloverfield, and then I sort of was in Cloverfield without even noticing.
There was like one big monster and a bunch of little white 'cloverfield' monsters. It was bizarre.

Euchre, you kill me. An Oregon Trail Card and Medical Marijuana...LAWLZ! What would *really* happen is that he would vanish, and everyone would be like, whoa?
They'd find him at a McMennamins sucking down a velvety lager contemplating assisted suicide.
As for the lesbian reference, yeah, there are plenty of those around here, however the taste for subarus, granola and birkenstocks extends far beyond the ladies of the sapphic kind. I live in hiking country, and trust me; whole families of granolas geared up in birkenstocks and Tevas; dressed in Columbia sportswear show up in the subarus with yakima bins and bikeracks strapped all over them, destroying our peace with their entitled Portland ways. Dime a dozen in the summer. Granola does not discriminate; it just IS.
Pretty soon Monstie will be wearing fleece and rumpled khakis, sandals in winter, holding a double non-fat vanilla hazelnut latté, the pupils on his nine eyes huge from the marijuana farm he just ate.
PS {edit} 1) I'm doing the photoshop thing, that sounds like fun.
In All truth, it's likely because Portland is so weird, that a monster attacking it would attract little reaction at all. "Oh, check it out. A monster. Sweet."

Clearly you've never visited Cleveland or swam in Lake Erie
