INFO from Prof. Whiting

Quote:
To those who have contacted me in recent weeks:

I don't really know how to begin this -- I have maintained this secret so long it is hard to think of breaking the vows and promises I have made. Men have given their lives to keep these confidences, but my conscience now weighs heavily on my soul. I now question the very ideals and principles I have devoted my life to, and fear that the shroud of secrecy we have maintained thru the centuries has blinded my fellow initiates to the seriousness of the current situation.

As some of you may have suspected, I has been a part of the group you know as the mythosphere guides, or the dactyls. This group has many visible faces and facades, and just as many secret ones. We are the followers and protectors of the ancient ways of Avalon and the tradition it represents. We are dedicated to the survival of the Way. But I fear that our obsession with secrecy has inexorably led us to where we stand today -- a world in which the average man has completely lost touch
with his true nature, his sacred inner self. For how can man learn the hidden truth if there is no one to show him the path?

One of our eternal charters is to find the special ones in humanity who show a predisposition to the ancient ways, and to guide them to greater understanding. For some, it is the result of centuries old bloodlines, running back through generations of mystics, shamans, or ancient philosophers. For others, the call of the ancient ways simply resonate somewhere within their hearts and souls. Sadly, as man as a whole slips farther and farther away from the numinous, we have found fewer and
fewer people willing or worthy of becoming initiates to our ways. And so we became more and more isolated. Instead of guiding, we began to monitor and observe those who had interest in the knowledge we protect.

Dale Sprague was such a person. I sensed a spirit in him that I have seen in far too few people -- a desire and determination to learn. His intuitive understanding of the hifhter level concepts I presented him in our private lessons was extraordinary, far beyond anything I had experienced in
any of my prospective initiative students before. Those above me in the dactyls, the ones directly in contact with the Masters beyond, grew very interested in Dale's 'potential'. But Dale soon proved to be a soul who could not be directed, a leader rather than a follower who yearned to carve his own way in the world, rather than hew to a path laid out for him.

Soon, the interest of my superiors turned to fear, as Dale sought his own path to enlightenment. They instructed me to use ancient techniques to alter Dale's mind, to cloud his memories of what I had revealed to him, and block the knowledge he had already attained. With a heavy heart I carried out my instructions. Once this was completed, they deemed Dale to be less of a risk, yet still they marked him for continued observation in the future.

Time grows short and I am weary. Beware of any offer from the dactyls to help you now; their aid and knowledge comes with a heavy price. And the true motives of the Masters behind them remain unknown. Do what you can to continue to assist Dale, for I believe in doing so, you help us all.

I hope to write more to you tomorrow.

Regretfully yours,

Richard Whiting

So we shouldn't trust these groups:
    The 3-0-7
    The Marzanos
    The Aglaura city council
    The Guides

Well, that makes it pretty easy.

On the count of three, RUN! Shocked

(Would you forward that to Dale and Iris, so they know?)
