INFO: New name from TP for one of the "Nine"

I got a new name from TP. I can't post the chat, because my power went out and came back on. But I remeber the name.

Carel Capek. (A better spelling is Karel Capek) He is one of the "nine". Along with Don Marzano (confirmed by Sarah), Nikola Tesla, George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff. She also mentions Trithemius and Joe MAtheny when the "nine" come up.

She also referred to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein as a 19th century robot story. Question

Here's some quick info for Karel Capek.

Quote:
Capek, Karel

Capek, Karel, 1890–1938, Czech playwright, novelist, and essayist. He is best known as the author of two brilliant satirical plays—R. U. R. (Rossum's Universal Robots; 1921, tr. 1923), which introduced the word robot into the English language, and The Insect Play, written with his brother Josef (1921, tr., 1923). These plays embody Capek's criticism of technological and materialistic excesses. Of his other plays The Makropoulos Secret (1923, tr. 1925) satirizes man's search for immortality and his yearning for titanistic greatness. Janácek used it as the basis for his opera The Makropoulos Affair (1925). Capek's Power and Glory (1937, tr. 1938), condemns totalitarianism and war. He also wrote travel sketches, romances (e.g., Krakatit, 1924, tr. 1925), and essays. His three volumes of conversations with Thomas G. Masaryk (1928–35, tr. 1934, 1938) form a political biography. Capek's three philosophical novels, Hordubal (1934, tr. 1934), Meteor (1934, tr. 1935), and An Ordinary Life (1935, tr. 1936) are philosophical and even mystical in tone. Distinct from his other works, they constitute Capek's masterpiece.

See study by W. E. Harkins (1962).

And here is the Karel Capek website. WEIRD!! He kind of looks like the Don's grandfather.

And when I try to post a link to Capek's picture, only the bottom half of his face shows up. Shocked

The Don's grandparents- http://www.sonsofdon.com/SODC%20-%20History_files/grampsNgram.jpg

And going on Capek's theme of robots (which was derived from the Czech word robota for slave), when the Don comes into power, every human will be his slave. He will rule- just as Sarah said. But he is portrayed as the evil ruler this time around.

Capek and RUR

Ursulla RUR deals with the conflict of robots taking over human worker positions doesn't it?

Quote:
Some references state that term "robot" was derived from the Czech word robota, meaning "work", while others propose that robota actually means "forced workers" or "slaves." This latter view would certainly fit the point that Capek was trying to make, because his robots eventually rebelled against their creators, ran amok, and tried to wipe out the human race.

TP would often ask "do you think robots will replace lawyers?" or "when do you think robots will replace lawyers?"
