I actually saw the preview too in front of Transformers... I came home and did a google search... I chose to view this forum out of all the links, and have been here watching the clues pile up ever since ...

I was a regular reader of http://1-18-08.blogspot.com/; which was one of the first results that popped up when I googled 1-18-08 at the time (I googled it a few days after I saw the preview w/ Transformers)
And when they put the postcard on the main site with the pictures, with the asian chef and the recipe, I went to the blog page for a translation, and the blogpage gave credit to unfiction for the translation; so I clicked on the link. And voila. I discovered a trove of people who keep up to the moment updates (even when there's weeks of nothing going on). I've been pestering the hell out of everyone here since.
That's how I ended up here. Rue the day.

I saw a little item in the newspaper back in July about the "mystery trailer"showing before Transformers. Eventually, I remembered to look for it online, literally Google-ing the phrase "mystery trailer abrams". I found and watched the teaser on Apple's site, and was hooked. Little did I know, how much more was to come.
I got sucked into the whole Ethan Haas dead end for a few days, and then found the discussion about Abrams' e-mail to Harry Knowles on the AintItCool site. I followed that discussion for several days, watching it degenerate into utter stupidity, and then with a little more Google-ing I found unfiction, and have been hanging out here ever since, greatly reducing my daily productivity at work in the process.

I hung around Ethan Haas Cloverfield Diaries for a bit, then by chance I stumbled across this and I had to join.

Now, i'm not sure how i came across the cloverfield sensation, but it all happened when i saw the trailer (1) so i went about sharing this amazing thing with others. So i searched Myspace, nope no groups there, so i tried facebook and there was a group. It had a link to this ARG. So i joined, nuff said.

Got bored once, went to see what new trailers apple had, saw one with 1-18-08, it looked suspicious, like a horror movie, i looked on wikipedia and found it was about a monster movie, cool i thought, so i watched it, watched it again, and found unfiction, i remembered this from the perplex city days, when i got pulled into a few arg's including one to do with a space elevator(what happened to that) but lost interest.
so here i am.

Well a while back I saw Transformers in theatres and saw the trailer and though, "meh." Then I went to Beowulf and saw the other trailer, still thought "meh." I'm a frequent poster on the Gearbox Software forums (gearboxity.com) and there was a thread in the "off topic" section called Cloverfield. I thought to myself, "Hey isn't that that movie?" So I entered the thread and discovered I was interested. Unfiction was mentioned somewhere in there.

The night after i saw the teaser, i got online and started looking shit up.
Most of the other forums seemed gay and too focused on the power rangers aspect of research. Although Power Rangers played a huge role in my childhood, it does not play a role in this movie, so i stuck around here.

I heard about a cool teaser before Transformers, and was like hey I'm going to see that so I guess I get to see this cool teaser.
Then I started looking on the internet for the teaser cause I wanted to see it again and I looked at all the information that was out about the movie. There wasn't much out at the time, so I just kept searching for updates every now and then until I found Cloverfield Clues which I check daily.

I found Unfiction during The Lost Experience. I was a very casual observer of that ARG and lost interest early on for various reasons. I saw the 1-18-08 teaser on Apple's site and googled it looking for more information about the movie. Found 1-18-08.com and lots of sights that linked 1-18-08 and Ethan Haas. Since there was really nothing to do at 1-18-08.com I started playing the puzzles at EthanHaaswasright.com. While searching for help with one of the puzzles I found Unfiction again. Unfiction forums had lots of help and were one of first places to say the two "games" weren't related. This time I stayed.

I...don't...know.
I think I found out about the trailer on the Empire Australia Forums (remember that magazine everyone was bitching about because it had the exclusive of the HD second trailer?), then read up on ARGs on Wikipedia, wanted to get involved in one, and was directed here by Wikipedia, which called this site one of the central hubs of the ARG community. And the rest, as they say, is history.

the rest, as they say, is history.
