We need Lasher to weigh in. He did the definitive translation of the wacky chef photo's recipe, making the critical correction to the word we thought was "crab" into "nectar". That famed thread is here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21297&highlight=photo+recipe+chef&start=90

Hinoai might be able to help us, too. He was working to translate the temporary page Tagruato had up after the first hack just a few nights ago. He also did a lot of the early translation of the recipe.

Anyone know how to reach these guys? Hopefully, they'll check in soon.

It doesn't look like much, but we are adding to it as we speak.

Somebody PM them. In the meantime, you're stuck with us. Lol.

Macphearson, what does a straight line in katakana mean? Does it mean a carried vowel? Because I think that's what it means.

ne thing which came to mind however, and im not trying to take away anything from anyone who found the pieces of paper, but to play devil's advocate, anyone else think this could come directly from the higher ups involved in Cloverfield to create a stir? As in they've created accounts here at UF just for the purpose of advancing the ARG (if we've come to that)?

*hides under table expecting backlash*

I wouldn't be surprised. There have been some other suspicious *cough*azrael*cough* characters on these forums. Very Happy

Edit: Anyone ever notice how on the Tagruato site if you select any language but English, it just refreshes the page? Probably not significant, but it's just something I noticed.

And a fine job it is! I certainly don't mean to diminish you guys efforts.

I poked around for variations of www.whistleblower.???. Couldn't find any smoking guns.

Even if it isn't real, it doesn't really give any new information. We already knew something was going to happen at the site closest to NY and we knew that there are people trying to stop Tagruato from doing whatever they are doing.

But we didn't ever have confirmation or even a real hint that Chuai was the source of anything special. It was just a speculation on our part, based solely on some very circumstantial evidence. We only became sure that any 'resistance' to Tagruato existed when the site was hacked, that was just speculation before as well. Being potential confirmation of a speculation made here is what makes this suspicious, but could make it very important if true.

It would make sense if they didn't put anything too mindblowing on this paper (if it is IG) since not everyone would have access to the information.

Ah, but not everyone emailed about Slusho distribution, not everyone is on MySpace to get the chance to be in Hud's comic - these are incentives. This is marketing, and MySpace needs membership for ad exposure to be of any use (and demographic info, of course). Notice all the people ordering today just because they may have the added bonus of a real clue in the story, one that it would appear is unique (hand torn) and because of having to make a purchase to get one it makes it a 'limited edition' thing. That adds prestige to the purchase, a tactic in retail sales.
Of course they could put important info out like this. They also know that people will share it enough to get the info out there and raise interest even higher.

You know, you've got me on that one. I have Kanji on the brain right now, trying to publish more than just these two measly lines.

No matter how much work we've put into it, we seem to be making little head-way. Though, I guess, optimistically, we're making progress with it.

Just to let you know, I've added what I've been able to figure out from the first paragraph to the Google doc. For reference, here it is:

***********, starting now all letters to the outside will first pass through our communication center, or they will not go out. Level 1 personnell will remain where they are, *****

The whole feel I'm getting from the letter is that some serious event has occured and they're going on high alert... but that's just me. Smile

Again, that's not 100% what it is, just what my knowledge of the language could squeeze out of it.

Absolutely, Kozmo. Reading over and trying to decipher, I got an anxious feel from it. Words like "counteract" and "no exceptions" are being used... Great work Kozmo, I'm working on the bottom right now.

Just an observation, if it is a fake, they had someone fluent in Japanese to write the Tagruato letter, because there are no errors in the letter, it's all very natural... and advanced. Smile

Well if they got it today they probably would've joined the forum just to let the ARGers out there know about this.

"ALERT THE INTERNETS!"

well I better sleep now. I'll come back tomorrow. Hopefully you guys have got something good by then. Wink

If this is really IG

Whoever is responsible for shipping Tagruato internal documents may also be responsible for the internal hack of their website.

Perhaps there are many on the inside trying to take it down. Corporate espionage has been happening forever. But are they passing Trade Secrets or working on taking down the Tag beast?

I remember reading an article a few years ago that really launched the background checks, detailed resume movement. A number of people actually went through college, graduated and then pursued a job in a corporation for the sole purpose of sabotage. Shocked
