Sorry people, I don't have enough time for the translation (I'm on work now and my Chief is lurking everywhere), so if you want to translate it, you can use http://www.rikai.com/perl/Home.pl. Just paste the text in and check up.

Its very useful, you can look up every kanji. OK, it isn't the whole text translation like babelfish. But Altavista Babelfish doesn't do his translation job well.

And: in 腎猫膜員 are the second and third kanji not correct, I suppose. Can somebody really scan the texts in better resolution?

Oh, my boss is coming!

Translating as we speak.

And no, Airteff, that was one of our guys.

sorry about double post

Agh. Final paragraph done, but the first two still seem choppy... anybody have some input?

EDIT: The second paragraph takes about hard word/employment rusting overtime? I don't get it.

First paragraph says something about "penetrating surfaces, etc."... any ideas?

A fresh pair of eyes would be welcome.

My two cents on the translation so far, based on McPhearson's in-progress document, kosmopol's full text, and wild guessing:

The "Judgement Council" phrase in what we're calling the "From:" line: I'm getting "Board of Trustees" as a translation for the whole phrase.

"Beginning in the next few days, due to the incident which occurred, all letters to the outside will first pass through our communication center, or they will not go out." Then maybe something about level one personnel having to have their entire messages read? (See my post with the "reru MESSEJI na subete" line.)

Second paragraph: Something about employees having to stay in appointed facilities. "Overtime" and "lodging"... maybe employees having to stay on-site overnight?

Third: Basically that if you fail to notify the board/council of any violations of this rule, you are in danger of being disciplined as well, no exceptions.

Edit: The "From:" line, not the "To:" line, obviously. And I'm going on McPhearson's translation of kosmopol's full text post, because I can't read it for anything myself.

So basically it's ironic—or, actually, probably intentional—that the person used the back of a company memo about screening employees' externally-bound messages to send just such a message.

And I think we did a pretty good job of translating, for not being fluent in Japanese. Yay group efforts.

In conclusion: If this IS a gamejack after all that, I'm going to cry.

Here you are, guys. The final product:

Great job, everyone. And not one of us knew a lick of Japanese, to boot.

LOL

THIS IS WHAT I WAS WORKING ON BASED ON WHAT WAS TRANSLATED. I DO NOT KNOW JAPANESE SO I WAS KIND OF WINGING IT. NOT TO BAD IF I SAY SO MYSELF.

It reads as follows:
LEVEL 1 EMPLOYEE SECURITY

THE ISSUE BEING IN COMMUNICATION OUTSIDE THE SITE.

2007 November 24th

DUE TO THE RECENT INCIDENT WICH HAS OCCURED, IT HAS BECOME NECESSARY TO FOWARD ALL COMMUNICATIONS OUTSIDE OF THE FACILITY THROUGH THE CENTRAL COMMUNICATION CENTER. OUT GOING MESSAGES WILL NOT BE SENT UNTIL GOING THROUGH A LEVEL 1 SECURITY CHECK.

ANY EMPLOYEE WORKING OVERTIME WILL BE APPOINTED A SPECIFIC AREA FOR LIVING QUARTERS.

FAILURE TO REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTS TO THE CHUAI MANAGEMENT WILL BE IN DIRECT VIOLATIONS OF COMPANY POLICY AND WILL DEALT WITH ACCORDINGLY WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

NeoNK1: Very cool. Good wording. I agree, I think we do finally have the general idea of the memo.

I just wish it led somewhere else. I mean, now that we've got it translated, should we be looking for some clue? Or is this just an isolated thing?

Ha. I just reread the handwritten part of the message, and realized that it DID say more communication was on the way. Apparently I had a memory lapse. But, yay. More clues. Can't wait.

I'm contemplating putting my old Japanese lesson CDs on. Maybe I'll actually get through verb conjugations this time.
