Hmm...strange...I can only see the words on the page and not the code. Wonder why that is?

it's in very, very, very small print at the bottom of the page and printed in white. so you have to select it to see it, then it's too small to read. So you have to view it in the source code or copy and past it to notepad.

I have left several comments to Jeff on his blog.

This is the last one I posted.

The stuff in the /hide folder doesn't make any since. Can you make anything out of it?

Anyways, we have been in contact with Dan again and he says he wants to meet you at the cemetery to talk and in memory of an old friend and employee.

He said he would let us know the time. So as soon as we find out the time we will let you know.

Say hello, to your friend for me. Take care and let us know what's going on with you. Why don't you update your blog, sometime. Let us know how you are doing and take a picture of your friend and post it for us. I would like to meet him/her.

Will be in touch with the time.
Sylvia.

Thank you Nawelch

I was trying to find where we messed up in the past about that to refresh everyone's memory.

So everyone, stay away from that stuff. That doesn't concern us nor our game.

Um...maybe we should delete the info in both of those posts before we get in trouble again?

Doug can delete his. But Nawelch can't, he (the pm)was signed in as a guest so a mod would have to delete it. So, I think it's ok to leave it as long as we stay away from it.

Moving on...

Let's all forget about this and continue the game.

So! Anyone got any ideas on that genetic code thingy? Very Happy

There could be some sort of mutation or inconsistency in them. I haven't checked it yet, but DNA nucleotides can only bond with certain onces, so any inconistancies in the sequence would indicate a mutation.

I've bothered to translate the code into base 4 using GATC=0123. Don't know if it's worth it though. I've inserted two line breaks to keep the page from being too wide.

012011120231003211120023000322302033120030012033322120
022010302022120022003120032322120302013302012001120012
120210012030030120033012030030120031322011011

If GATC is the wrong order, let me know. I have this broken down in Excel and can easily supply any key for it.

I think we might have to identify the protein that this corresponds to. I'm trying desperately to remember everything I know about molecular biology. I've been reading up again on DNA translation, and everything is starting to come back to me.

DNA transcribes to RNA translates to Protien.

I know there is stuff within the RNA cycle but I can't remember it. I know mRNA codes for protiens.

This is the original sequence, in groups of threes (how they are encoded):
Code:
GAT GAA ATG TCA GGC TAA ATG GTC GGG CTT CGT GCC ATG GCG GAT GCC CTT ATG GTT GAG CGT GTT ATG GTT GGC ATG GCT CTT ATG CGT GAC CGT GAT GGA ATG GAT ATG TAG GAT GCG GCG ATG GCC GAT GCG GCG ATG GCA CTT GAA GAA

Translated to the antistrand (A > T, T > A, C > G, G > C):
Code:
CTA CTT TAC AGT CCG ATT TAC CAG CCC GAA GCA CGG TAC CGC CTA CGG GAA TAC CAA CTC GCA CAA TAC CAA CCG TAC CGA GAA TAC GCA CTG GCA CTA CCT TAC CTA TAC ATC CTA CGC CGC TAC CGG CTA CGC CGC TAC CGT GAA CTT CTT

Translated to mRNA (A > U, T > A, C > G, G > C):
Code:
GAU GAA AUG UCA GGC UAA AUG GUC GGG CUU CGU GCC AUG GCG GAU GCC CUU AUG GUU GAG CGU GUU AUG GUU GGC AUG GCU CUU AUG CGU GAC CGU GAU GGA AUG GAU AUG UAG GAU GCG GCG AUG GCC GAU GCG GCG AUG GCA CUU GAA GAA

I just found the table on Wikipedia that gives us the codon table for mRNA to protien. However I'm somewhat doubtful that this is a real protien; the first codon should be "AUG" which is the one which codes for the start. And it doesn't stop on a "stop" codon either.

DAMMIT I just did that all by hand and found a program online that does it for me DX http://www.cbs.dtu.dk/services/VirtualRibosome/ Paste in the ORIGINAL code. ">>>" means start, "***" means stop.

I also found http://www.bioservers.org/html/sequences/sequences.html, which lets you search for similar sequences. The first hit I got was a variation on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burkholderia_cenocepacia.

Maybe I'm looking too far into this. But it was fun anyway Very Happy

Jeff updated his blog

I'm fine

I'm fine. Ive just been scatter brained again. I hope you all understand. This whole situation has really taken a toll on me. I am exhausted. I saw the /hide folder and understand you have been in contact with Dan Bullerman. Have you gotten any information out of him? What does he want? Especially with me. Do you know how to contact him?

Would you guys go to the cemetery without knowing a bit about it? I suppose I should go to find a pill.....this all seems predictable. Well, I'm going to get something to eat. Would anybody want to talk on the phone and think things through? It might spark a memory or help brainstorm or something.

Jeff

he's wants to talk to someone on the phone. I'll leave that to you guys.
I've got to think how to answer his questions about bullerman, since I told him in the first place. Any ideas?

At times like this i wish i had a phone...

yeah, I'd wanna talk to him....

anyway, Sylvia, just tell him everything i guess. Oh, and reasurre him how Dan simply wants to talk to him, I don't really trust Dan, but i don't see what would be the point of him harming Jeff in any way, unless he's lied....

Dunno I'm just the newbie here!! @_@

Off topic, is natas up to date?
