KOSMOPOL and company have translated the Japanese in the commercial. It appears that it is without a doubt telling us we have missed something important. Although I can't imagine what that would be. We are being pretty thorough about everything. Soooooo what opportunity are we missing? Mad

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22461

EDIT: I am Dyslexic and have a hard time with punctuation. Added "?"

I know that is not important, but I have to keep re-learning all the time.

I really think that may be the problem. We're being too meticulous about the details. We gotta take a step back and figure out what this commercial means in relation to the rest of the ARG.

The question is, are we missing something about slusho or just cloverfield in general?

I have tried every single dam combination of these three words and I can not come up with a single dam website!!!

Also, can anybody get a return message from any of the cloverfield websites anymore? I have tried each one over the last three days and nobody will respond to me. I have even tried them as different people with different views from different email addresses. It is pissing me off that nobody will respond to me!!!

Brought this up in another thread, and not sure if it has merit. The one thing about Slusho.jp that has bugged me is the fact that the flavor page has no use insofar as it doesn't get anywhere. What if the contest is the choosing of the newest flavor in Slusho's line-up. Would explain the blank spots left in Slushobots armour, and the small star flashing new flavor. If someone were to forward a solid choice for the new flavor, and make it seem that this would be the best choice for their introduction to the Western market, it may be the piece that's been missing.

In terms of trying to find some deeper meaning/themes from this commercial, we might want to consider the importance of Noriko to the Slusho History.

The History page of Slusho! was one of the first things we saw in this whole game, and it's more about Noriko than Ganu. She disappeared after going out to sea to find the tastiest ingredient in the world. After that, Ganu - initially uninterested in Mom's venture - had his own weird dream and used his scientific discovery to 'complete' Noriko's vision. As a result, Ganu becomes very rich and powerful. And, now, TIDO is making constant references to defending Mother Earth from Ganu's greed and corruption. The headline "Tell us About Your Mother" jumps out; but also, lines like this (from "Who Are Les Guerriers de Mère-Terre?"):

Quote:
We now turn our attention to Tagruato, a company that has been having its way with our Mother for decades. The T.I.D.O. Wave will cleanse Her of their cruelty.

And, as kosmopol pointed out, in the Slusho commerical, that cartoon-boy's mouth is (over) the man's navel, possibly suggesting an umbilical cord, i.e., connection to Mother. So, there's a general theme of Ganu & Mother; and, specifically, of Ganu betraying or disrespecting Mother. Could there be someone who is really angry that Ganu used his scientific discovery to complete Noriko's dream?

Noriko started her experiments by mixing fruits and vegetables "and other ingredients naturally grown from her father's (Ryouta Yoshida) farm." And, "traveling the world as young horticulturist, Le Bandit observed the excessive exploitation and pollution of Mother Earth by big business." Noriko is not Le Bandit Vert, because they call Le Bandit "he" at one point, and I think the timing wouldn't work - she'd be too old if she was still around. But, there does seem to be some vague connection between the two; perhaps the theme that will evolve will be Ganu's corruption of Noriko's dream - maybe Le Bandit Vert was close to Noriko, a business partner? A lover? Ganu's Father? Or, an unknown sibling or other close relative of Ganu's? Les Guerriers de Mère-Terre was "founded in Paris in 1982 by the notorious conservationist known only as Le Bandit Vert." That doesn't mean Le Bandit is french, but just that he's adopted this french personna.

Another possible connection is the story of Emperor Chuai (from Wikipedia):

Quote:
According to these same legends, his wife was suddenly possessed by some unknown gods. The gods promised Emperor Chūai rich lands overseas. Chūai then looked to the sea, but he could see nothing and denounced his belief in the promises of the gods. The gods were enraged by this and declared that he would die and never receive the promised land. Instead they would go to his conceived but unborn son.

So... is Chuai's legend a metaphor for Ganu's Father? His wife became obsessed with finding her fortune in the sea - but, Ganu's father didn't support this idea. Noriko set out anyway and never came back. Some years later, Ganu shows up and makes a killing Wink by fulfilling Noriko's dream. Sticking to the legend, Ganu's Dad would have died before this happened; another family member then? Someone who resents Ganu's 'inheritance' of Noriko's dream. I'd say Danno Jo, but he's called Ganu's "right hand man" in a Tagruato article, and he seems to be a heavy hitter in Tagruato management, so why would he be pissed off? Still, there are some weird things about Danno Jo: he was left in charge of Noriko's drink business until Ganu took over, but he's also mentioned as overseeing the undersea construction projects - that seems odd. Meanwhile, according to an article on Tagruato, the Tokyo Business Quarterly gala in October of 2006 was "the partners' [Ganu & Danno Jo] first known appearance together, public or otherwise." That's also odd.

Anyway, the point is that there seem to be a lot of things pointing us toward Noriko, and with some possible relation to TIDO. Just some thoughts.

Worst case scenario, it actually means nothing and there are some exec types in an office rolling around laughing at us.

Divine entity? Or perhaps "IT"?

Well, if we look at the things like Freud, there are

super-ego => ratio, cultural self-understanding, experiences

ego => the instance between super-ego and id

id => natural drive, libido, etc.

so if I can see it in the right way, ego = the man in the room = is driven by his natural drives (behind he door)

The Moose - as super-ego - gives him strong advice, but helps to reach the adored wishes behind-the-door. And - look - after drinking slusho, ego doesn't repress the primitive drives, like it does at "normal" situation.

It does mean, Slusho! is like a liberator from its own moral chains. Super-ego aka Moose does play doubtful role of "allower".

Hm...

I like this train of thought with all the symbolism...but what direction is this supposed to point us in? Slusho "liberates" people, but it also liberates something else? Something inside of people (not literally like the expanding lady) that isnt so happy and innocent?

Perhaps, this liberation might be in some anarchic way? I very agree with your assumption that "something inside of people (not literally like the expanding lady) that isnt so happy and innocent?". It could be a key, because perhaps the real monster (metaphoric or literally) is inside of us - this was at least the message of JJ Abrams in "Lost".

[SPEC] The writing on the door in the commercial
What does it mean?

I honestly searched for "door commercial slusho" and "writing door commercial" and found nothing ...

There's a symbol in the middle of the door when the moose first appears. I'd post it, but the internet is down at home, I'm at work.

It's vaguely like this:
Code:

   |
  -+-
   |\
  /| \

I think there's 2 lines on the right going down at 45o and one on the left

When the moose starts yelling at the guy, and light is flashing in from the door you can see it.

... That MIGHT be "tree." I'd have to see a screencap to be sure. :/ I hope it's not; there's a kanji for "origin" or "beginning" that looks alot like the tree kanji.... And I just feel like "origin" might make more since... :\
