[SPEC]Frog Clues?

I've collected all the clues I can find pointing at the monster being a giant frog or toad. Any thoughts? Very Happy

There was a lot of speculation that this film was an American remake of The Host, partly because of the production name 'The Parasite'. The creature in the Host is a mutated tadpole:

The strange flower like shape on the Slusho flavour page could be the silhouette of a frog:

This frog is seen on the slusho home page, but nowhere else.
It is the only animal not to appear on the Distribution Opportunities page, or anywhere else on the site. In Japanese, Kaero means both 'Frog' and 'To return'.

This shape hidden on the hacked Tagruato page looks like a juvenile frog.

The nearest thing I can find that looks like what we see of the monster is a Cane Toad. Here is a cane toad making its way through downtown NY:

Note the ridge on its back and the poison sac above the arm.

The Cane Toad is a large, highly toxic toad from South America, it was deliberately introduced to Australia from Hawaii to protect sugar cane plantations, but has become a huge pest responisble for wiping out a lot of the local wildlife.
It secretes venom from the large glands at the back of it's eyes when it is threatened, capable of killing dogs and even crocodiles. The eggs, hatchlings and tadpoles are also highly toxic.

Ingestion ot the poison can cause rapid heartbeat, excessive salivation, convulsions and paralysis and death. Symptoms of death in the Northeren Quoll (a type of marsupial) include bright red lips and or gums and can also include nose bleeds, red ears, bleeding from the ears, and red eyes.

edit: I forgot to mention that most frogs can't survive in salt water, so that's a possible flaw in this idea.

UPDATE:

Les Guerriers de Mère-Terre was founded by Le Bandit Vert.
A Green Frenchman?

What about Bandit? In Smokey and the Bandit, The Bandit gives Sally Field's character the nickname of 'Frog'.[/img]

This last picture is a bit dubious, as it can't be verified as being connection to the movie: It was posted back in July on IMDB in a strange series of messages, said to be a photograph of the monster.

It is described as looking 'rather amphibious'.

Previously I'd thought the small black patches were eyes, but if they were nostrils, and the eyes are to the sides, it looks a bit froglike, though frogs don't tend to leave their mouths hanging open.

Dunno if you're correct or not, but that is a cool bit of graphics...

Yeah I added a bit at the end about that. There is a Crab-Eating frog that can survive in salt water, but that's the only known amphibian that can.

Yeah, if it was the size of a car back in 1981, imagine how big it is now!

This will suck if it is some sort of huge frog.

i personally wouldn't be impressed if a big frog attacked NY. NY deserves a proper monster.

A frog wouldn't be scary, in my opinion. That would definitely turn the movie in to a comedy very quickly. Besides...

"In England Smoky the Bear is not the forest fire prevention representative. They have Smacky the Frog. It's just like a bear, but it's a frog. I think it's a better system, I think we should adopt it. Because bears can be mean, but frogs are always cool. Never has there been a frog hopping toward me, and I thought 'man, I'd better play dead. Here comes that frog...' You never say here comes that frog in a nervous manner. It's always optimistic. Hey here comes that frog, al-right. Maybe he'll come near me so I can pet him, and stick him in a mayonnaise jar, with a stick and a leaf, to recreate what he's used to."

Haha, but really, I'm not saying it would look like a normal frog, just that the back half seems to match up. See the pictures from The Host I added for another interpretation of a mutated frog monster.

I don't know...even the host monster is pretty funny.

Something more 'monstrous' would be nice.

Whoever wrote that quote never played the Resident Evil games with the man-eating frogs...
