[SPEC] One more new Cloverfield trailer and TV ads

So does anyone think there will be one more theatrical trailer (with new footage) for Cloverfield before its release date? If so, when and what movie…Sweeny Todd maybe?

I'm sure it depends on the marketing budget, but movies with two trailers are not that uncommon, especially if it's over a long period of time between the initial teaser and the release date. The first trailer was with Beowulf, over 2 months before Cloverfield is released…Beowulf will soon be a faded memory and gone from theaters…most trailers I see when I go to the movies are for releases in 2-4 weeks so I don't see any reason why a new one could not be done (however, it would suck if it was the same trailer put on a newer movie).

Not that this is conclusive by any means, but if you recall the interview with Jessica Lucas (Lily) back in October ( http://cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com/2007/10/jessica-lucas-lily-ford-news.html ) she mentioned there would be more trailers (plural) coming out very soon. Who knows if she just misspoke or what, anything is possible.

I also wonder if T.V. advertising will just be a shortened version of the movie trailer or different footage…I would except to see T.V. ad's after Christmas/Early Jan.

BTW, anyone catch the item on cloverfieldclues.com with the new Cloverfield billboard in L.A./Santa Monica (ironically on the corner of Cloverfield and Olympic). http://cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com/2007/12/cloverfield-billboards.html

I would expect a trailer intended for television that is a shortened, combined version of the first two trailers (here's a party, here's a noise, here's an explosion, here's soldiers, here's a helicopter crash, 1-18-08, visit cloverfieldmovie.com, something of that sort).

But, for the record, the trailer in front of Beowulf is the second trailer. The first came with Transformers.
[EDIT] Unless you mean under the name "Cloverfield", which seems unnecessary because it's the same movie.

I should clarify (It's all semantics anyhow). I didn't count what was in front of Transformers as a trailer; it was more of a teaser. But yes, you're correct about Beowulf if you count them both as trailers.

I would love for another trailer to come out, hopefully before Sweeney Todd.

On the other hand, how useful would the trailer be to us, with a maximum of about three or four weeks to find all the points of interest/"clues" and speculate? About as useful as trying to disarm a bomb that'll go off in three seconds.

But at least it'd be fun. A new trailer, not the hypothetical bomb, I mean. Wink

They should have BEEN put up a huge billboard right on 42nd street Times Square as an ideal location, or if anything, just somewhere mainstream in New York City in general, considering the movies is based in NYC.

Do you have any idea how much that costs? Probably more than most of the movie to begin with. Considering the low budget of this thing, I'd be really surprised if they do that.

This is Viacom and Paramount Pictures were talking about. Trust me they are not low budget for a billboard in NYC

Apparently, actually, there was a TV teaser sometime in the past week. I think before Heroes. I don't watch it, but my friend told me he saw it.
