Looks like DK's campaign could be switchin from Joker to Two-face character according to the news articles.

The News articles say that the promo for the dark knight is not going to focus on the Joker as much as It was. This does not mean the all the Joker promo stuff will disappear in its entirety. It would be a bit jarring if this game suddenly stopped focusing on the Joker. As for the Two-face suggestion I don't think there is "a Two-face" around Gotham in the time frame the game is in.

I never said They were Definetly switchin...I said the news is saying "Could be" according to their sources.

Article:
Harvey Dent is the Backbone of Dark Knight
Source: Los Angeles Times January 15, 2008

The Los Angeles Times talked to The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan, who says that "Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) is a tragic figure, and his story is the backbone of this film."

Nolan seems to believe Bigger role for Dent.

Nothing is definite from any of us at this point. Smile We're all just speculating, but the events that create Two-face happen during the movie IIRC. That'd make a switch in focus to Harvey Dent more likely (hopefully they don't bring "Big bad Harvey" from B:TAS into this). Smile

If Harvey is going to be in... I need to get out a half-dollar and give it the good ol' X. That's what it was right, a half-dollar coin?

Found this also on Dent/Two face for the movie..Interview with Eckhart(Who is playing Dent).

In an interview with MTV.com, Eckhart said "I play Harvey Dent. Harvey Two-Face. They are both in the movie."

Source: http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2007/07/14/aaron-eckhart-confirms-to-mtv-two-face-will-appear-in-the-dark-knight/

also:

In a series of clips shown at Wizard World 2007, - Two major additions to the speculation that Two Face will appear in the film came in the form of a single shot of a spinning 50 cent piece and the final image: after the action montage has slowed down, the camera cuts to a bartender looking at Harvey Dent, whose only onscreen presence is his left shoulder and a bit of a reddish-purple scarred neck. "Dent! I thought you were dead!" the man gasps, to which Harvey replies, "Half."

my guess is that the appearence of Two Face isn't until the very end of the flick.

A la - Jack Napier at the end of Batman Begins.

Anyone else think this is a possibility?

Up until the last few weeks the focus of Dark Knight seemed like it was totally about Jack Napier/The Joker.

thoughts?

Well, some spec on that I suppose:

1. They allowed Eckhart to mention that Two-Face is in the movie. They wouldn't have cleared him to do so if it was a surprise spot at the end.

2. We'll probably get more Two-Face in this one than you'd think. My speculation is that we're going to get a primary villain in The Joker, with an ORIGIN for Harvey Dent/Two Face. The other Batman movies always teamed up villains, I don't think it'll be the case in TDK.

3. Joker's origins from Jack Napier are only one take on where he came from. There are three or four in the comics alone, at least that are generally agreed upon as mainstream. And we may get a totally different or NO origin on this Joker.

Punchline,

I agree with you about letting Aaron Eckhart talk about Two Face but it seems to me that if they bring Two Face in at the same time as The Joker that it might take away from the true evil that the Joker is.

You know what I mean?

Remeber when they introduced all those characters in Batman Forever and then Batman and Robin. It was kind of hard to keep track of who was on whose side and what not.

Not to mention the fact that they were terrible movies.

I just hope that they don't ruin this one with a bunch of villains all at the same time. Especially if they do "create" or "re-interperate" The Jokers origin.

I really hope we get an origin. Although we might not based on what Gordon said in Begins. He said that he was already calling himself the Joker.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see, unless they release more info on it. But I doubt it.
Very Happy

My best guess is that Mr. Dent has an accident at least halfway through the movie. A while later, he re-emerges as Two Face. We'll get origins for Two Face but no final outcome for him, as I think he'll battle the Bat in the next movie.

sounds good to me.

anyone know the timeline of Gordon yet?

Whether he becomes Comissioner in DK or the next one?

My guess is the next one.

I concur, this is what I've thought all along about Dent/Two-face. During the movie we'll see the event that creates Two-face, but won't see him until the end.

Nothinglost, I challenge your definition of "true evil". lol The Joker is a solid Chaotic evil character. In the teaser we hear Alfred say something about the mob turning to a man they fully don't understand (The Joker), and in the IMAX Joker featurette we see The Joker leading a team robbing a mob bank. Smile

If I remember correctly I read somewhere that Nolan said the origin of The Joker is beyond the scope of the movie, and they don't touch on it at all. I'll look around, I may be wrong about that (I just hope I'm not The Joker deserves his secrets, just like Batman).

[edit to add]

Director Christopher Nolan and co-writers Jonathan Nolan and David S. Goyer decided not to explore the origins of the Joker in order to portray the character as "absolute." it's from IMDb, but that's not the only place I've read it.

Origin of Joker

Ecks51,

Excellent find on the Nolan and Goyer insight.

Well I guess that pretty much clears up my questions about the origin of the joker.

my definition of "true evil" is simply how maniacal the joker really is. he will stop at nothing or noone to get what he wants. Even his henchmen don't really matter to him in the end.

The Imax preview is simply amazing. I actually saw it before I saw the official trailer and in my opinion the 5 minute segment blows the trailer out of the water.

The trailer does make the film look great i just thought the 5 minute clip was amazing though.

IMDB obviously isn't the best source for news and happenings but it might be one of the only places to get any info now. I'm not saying that I want to be spoiled by any means, I'm just a really big fan of the Batman series and I love to hear all the inner-workings of the latest film.

I also agree with you about the Harvey Dent/Two Face situation happening at the end of the film. I don't think they really want to overload us with villains again.

Dent character throughout the first half of the film and then an "incident" occurs and then we see his reveal as Two Face towards the end of the film after the Joker has either

A: Gone away
B: Been locked up
C: Killed off

(but given the tragic circumstances I definitely don't think that they will kill off the character.)

It's also been a really "busy" couple of months with all the viral marketing going in now.

Between DK, Lost - Find815, and Cloverfield I've had my hands full and time taken away but I love every minute of it.

I also recently started playing "Torment" with a friend of mine.

If you haven't checked it out, you should give it a shot. It's tough but really fun.

It's under Timewasters.
