It's been a fun ride!!! And it ends with cake!!
The Imax in Chicago has Beowulf 3D running at 8pm on the 6th. Tell me they have more than one screen! All this for less than 1/2 hour?
Is that all there is?
If that's all there is, then lets keep dancing.

Just sour grapes, I wish I could go. Let us not lose sight of what events like this are all about:

Movie! Just to let everyone know I called the IMAX in my city to find out what all this was about (before I invited a million people)
I talked to the manager there and he said he had no idea what I was talking about - using my powers of charming (asking him nicely) he went to investigate. The word is that they will be showing a 7-8 minute clip of The Dark Knight at the given time in each theatre. I suspect there will be more to the story then that - but for now that is the best intel I have (from TO at least).
Have fun!

So... what did you guys do with the cake?
Giskard and I each had a slice last night. It was indeed chocolate, and quite tasty.

If that is all it is - a 7 minute clip, I don't think I want to pay approx. $20.00 for a parking fee, tolls, and gas.

gather the clan Been meaning to register and start posting on these boards for a while. I picked up the cake that was in Portland... though, as someone mentioned earlier, it was technically in Beaverton. It ended up being just four miles away from where I work!
Anyway, we're updating a page on the wiki where anyone who recovered a cake/phone can list their name and location. Not sure how we'll use this in the future, but it may help out those who weren't able to recover one.

Nice one FlyingMonkey! And, welcome to Unfiction! I'm glad the Portland area (which is also home to Unfiction HQ) was more or less represented by someone from here too... at least after the fact . I added the Boston info to the cellphone list.
Now, for those not aware of my travel plans, I have shifted my presence from Boston to New York yesterday, so I am in the very fortunate position of being able to go and try to get into the IMAX screening as well, as Rose has registered for four tickets! I'm really psyched!
You'll naturally hear all about it if we actually manage to get in.

Wow, I had no idea that UFHQ was here in my hometown! Well, I'll do my best to update my findings both here and on the SHH boards.
As for the screenings, I just checked the registration site and all available tickets have been given out. There's some speculation on SHH that there may be another item given/mailed to attendees who were able to register in time. I can't wait to find out what the next piece of the puzzle is.

Well confirmed insofar as when I talked to the manager of the theatre that is what I was told but if there is more to it then that there is no way to say

Slice of sci-fi also has some info about the screenings tuesday night of the 6 minutes...
'm still of the belief that there will be at least something argish about the imax screenings tonight and tomorrow, since they are really focused on the players' communities... it's essentially invite only, and only for those who went through the whysoserious site to get tickets. So I'm hoping for more than just a 6 minute video and then home. I'm sure we'll know for sure later tonight once the people going to the 4 cities return home and rave abou their event... then we'll know what to expect tomorrow in TO

Giskard and rose reporting in by cellphone from the NY IMAX--it was a 6 minute trailer, nothing else, no clues, no text. The only cool thing was that the director, Christopher Nolan introduced it. The clip was of a bank robbery orchestrated by the Joker.

It is as I expected then. Kind of glad I didn't kill myself trying to get to L.A. (would've had to miss work, and that's not cool).
I'll be okay waiting until 14Dec to see it.
