I belive that this picture confirms that there are little monsters:

Obviously, they are trying to keep something out of the room, and there is no way they are trying to keep out a huge monster. So, unless people are hunting them down, there are obviously little monsters trying to get to them.

Also, look at the girl's (Beth, or whoever she is; only girl in the picture) arm.
It has two scratches, look about the same depth in cut and are evenly spaced. Perhaps a scratch from the little monsters?

Thoughts?

 		They could be hiding from the monster in a secure place and trying to hold out people trying to get into their hiding place and the scratches could be from debris.

Why would they want to hold out people? Unless there are so many people that they can't fit into the hiding place, then there is no reason why they would be shutting them out.

 		Maybe there are limited supplies or something so they are trying to live for the longest time with having as few people eat them as possible.

Why would they have terror on their faces while there holding the door? And trying so hard?

Plus, I don't think they would be thinking much about supplies and food in a time of panic.

That makes no sense, if someone was trying to detain you in a room, wouldn't you be pulling on the door to get out, instead of pushing on the door to keep something from getting in?

I think what they mean is they are trying to keep the police/military out so the police/military can not take them to the quarantine site and or put them into the room full of hazmat suits and plastic tubes.

Or even killing them to prevent whatever happened to Marlena from happening again?
Personally I think it's the small monsters though.
