I am standing by the Sea Bed Nectar being a Pelagic Ooze. The ooze is in it's best state warmed preferably by volcanic vents. Much like those in the Mariana trench. Hot (Oven Mitt) Seabed Nectar or Pelagic Ooze is filled with micro-organisms and other sea life. In a frozen state however they are well, frozen.

The fact that the packet of evidence (Perhaps Seabed Nectar) was in a box for a couple of months makes no sense on why to "FREEZE ASAP" unless light somehow activated the stuff. Warmed with LIGHT might be a bad combination.

But, I think this has nothing to do with Mr. Grumpypants. This has to be some sort of ancient creature. A mutagen strain to build something like that in a short period of time would have to astronomical. If this ancient creature was in a frozen state and disturbed that makes sense.

From a Crypto-Zooological standpoint, that creature would need a significant amount of food source. The thing would literally need tons of meat and a grazing pattern of hundreds of acres per day.

It's a bit far-fetched, it might just make you sick if you have it unfrozen, or make the Slusho taste really crappy.

2 things

I think Jamie's hair blown by the fan was shown purposely to hint at the odd temperatures they're experiencing.

Also, the package marked primary evidence sort of resembles that of a candy bar in a tin foil wrapper. Like after you rip off the initial "hersheys" paper part. Its possible this could reference the chocolate working title. Or the images we saw early in all this, when the crew had passes around there neck with the chocolate image. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o247/Buttonbasher/SlushoShirt.jpg

Yes.

I believe the monster is Squishface! (Sealab ref for which I have no pic)
Or Uniqua from the Backyardagains, I have no idea what that thing is but my kid loves it.

Sorry, back on topic...

Patrick, you know I have the highest esteem for your plump pink posterior, but you're putting way too much thought into how this creature comes to be. It's Hollywood baby! In Hollywood, things like spontaneous mutation in previously normal beings happen, and creatures conveniently and rapidly age and grow. "Oh, the kid has to discover the egg, but it needs to be an adult and fast, what do we do?" Is there ever a plausible explanation for any of these strange things? Rarely.

I mean, if they were being scientifically accurate, there'd be no such thing as a skyscraper-sized monster. Even dinosaurs had their size threshold before they would collapse under their own bulk. Something that lives under the tremendous pressures of the deepest oceans would bite it soon after it hits the surface.

I'm willing to accept the fiction, because I love fiction, but I certainly am not going to find even a scrap of it truly believable.

I'd be psyched to find out that it's a combination of these theories.

The monster is not an accident, but wasn't 'created', per say.

Like Teddy says....but both.

They found some kind of ancient creature, and knowing what potential side effects DSN has, started screwing around with it.

so, both found and made.

This is me officially abandoning the 'accidental monster' theory.

This is YMR's doing.

"YMR implements Tagruato's advanced exploration technology to study extremophiles found only in the deepest parts of our oceans. The understanding of such organisms that thrive in conditions of extreme pressure, temperature, and toxicity has boundless pharmaceutical and industrial promise"

So Tag finds some kind of new species, or perhaps grow it from DSN, if that does turn out to be the eggs of something else. For all we know, every Tag drilling station is equally equipped as a YMR research facility, since it's semi-obvious all these 'subsidaries' are slightly more closely-knit than they appear at face value.

MAYBE:

Chuai Station isn't even a drilling station, but rather, their first attempt at harvesting DSN straight from the source: a fully-grown, fertile Grumpypants. Genetically altered to produce shittons of DSN, the monster is the real reason Chaui's EURR is "in development"?

And Momma Grumpypants wants her babies back!

The DSN from the genetically altered Grumpypants is equally altered.

This could easily be why a drink that has caused no problems in Asia causes exploding people or bursting bellies full of grumpypantlettes in America - genetically altered DSN from the closest source to America is in America's Slusho supply.

Ok, so it might not go down quite like that...but I still think this is a YMR or TAG project gone bad as opposed to some monster in the ocean growing crazy freakin' huge on its own.

Prepare for my $0.02

Maybe Rob in the trailer doesn't have a guilty look, maybe he has a "Teddy was right" look. I think that maybe Rob and Teddy met through Jamie, or they knew each other a long time before, or something. Anyways, assuming that Rob was going to Japan to work for Tag/Slusho (I don't remember which one it was), he might have just been going because Teddy told him about all this junk and he was thinking, "Holy crap! I've got to help him out!" Tidowave.com/the cause could have people working in all parts of Tagruato/Slusho.

Jurrasic Park...

Here is my theory...

The TAG folks have found the carcaus of a long deceased animal. Because of the great depth the tempurature has kept the viable DNA frozen and they have the ability to harvest that material and CLONE a new creature...Check this site out...http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/04/0408_050408_woollymammoth.html

about the "why does he tell her to freeze it after 1 month ?!" theory.

it is seabed nectar we kinda know for sure now...
my theory is if its exposed to "normal" temperature something happens with the seabed nectar... like it creates eggs or some other kind of life... we know that in slusho its always keept ins its cold state like its found on the ocean floor....

so tedy tells jamie to not open it until 9th of december so it can build up the bactieria/eggs or whatever he knows about and someone can show it to the public to proof that Tagruato is messing with something...
probably marlena eats it someday and gets screwed -.-

just my 2 cents Razz

excuse my bad english... thats the best i can explain it with my broken english -.-

That makes the most sense. And to paraphrase: send the package, have her hold it for the incubation period, and freeze it before it becomes dangerous.

Also, I don't believe Teddy worked for Tagruato, because he says he was captured by Tagruato.

But wouldn't he have to have some kinda access to actually snoop around. Like working for them prehaps?
