That'd fit with "See you in December"

Time magazine article about the Dark Knight promotion as a new phenomenon , it mentioned 1-18-08 as well. I can't find an online link to that though. It was a piece in the holiday movie section of Time magazine.

Other news:

There is a video of someone from the press getting a cake, paper and invite to the screening at The Bridge in LA.

VIRAL MEDIA WATCH

Movie Ads Go 2.0

Web marketing used to be a matter of a preview clip and some downloads. But as viral media catch on, movie websites are becoming quite a production.

MONSTER MARKETING

What form of terror could decapitate the Statue of Liberty? Lost creator J.J. Abrams' new movie, Cloverfield, has been teasing fans with a slow reveal of the film's monster. One site, 1-18-08.com -- which issues a terrifying scream after six minutes -- features a mishmash of photos taken during the creature's assault on Manhattan. And then there's slusho.jp which purports to be the site of a Japanese soft drink but actually exists to offer more tantalizing clues to the beast's aquatic origin.

SMIRK'S UP

Warner Bros. has been whetting fanboys' appetites for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight at whysoserious.com which has issued ever-escalating challenges, like a nationwide scavenger hunt to find the letters of a cryptic quote. The site also asked fans to send in pictures of themselves as the Joker and promised those who participate yet another treat "after the bird's been carved."
