Not a surprise. I always thought Slusho was some sort of cameo anyways...

The way I see it, even if the Slusho doesn't have a direct impact on the film- if the Tagruato activities that lead to the monster's attack have nothing to do with the Seabed Nectar, but are a separate part of what is supposed to be a very large and profitable company, I don't think this is time wasted. The Slusho commercial is fun, the website is neat, and talking about it makes me happy. I'm getting all my friends just as pumped. It's good publicity, and it's a good time, and a way to meet other people as analytical, optimistic and skeptical as each fan seems to be here (to some degree...).

Anyone who thinks this is stupid, or a waste of time is being silly. If you see a kid having fun playing with a cardboard box full of Styrofoam peanuts, don't tell him he's a loser for not playing with the toy that came inside the box. I'm not hurting anyone if I want to watch a trailer more than once, or treat a new piece of evidence with some skepticism. Besides, I want a Slusho hat because they're nifty, and crossovers are endearing if done cleverly (if that's all Slusho is for Abrams).

Anyone who has to insult others to feel cool or elitist is a loser, Cheetos or no.

Alright, True Doubters, then explain why the hell Slusho is getting even MORE marketing facetime since the release of the new trailer (the TV commercial on "Heroes," Teddy's cap, etc, et al, ad nauseam).

I think Slashfilm, CHUD, AICN and others are just mightily pissed off that the evidence is definitely pointing TOWARD Slusho being the raison d'etre for the monster, and they absolutely HATE that.

Face it, the Slusho storyline has been there from Day One, unchanged through two trailers and umpteen new viral sites.

Slusho makes monsters. Deal with it, doubters. Wink

It says we're all a bunch of dorks or nerds or something. I think my feelings might be hurt.

Oh, he's just upset 'cause his report got picked to pieces. Laughing Not his fault that he can't tell the difference between a HAZMAT and a small monster. Rolling Eyes

Heehee. This "story" is from a site with a forum thread discussing "toys", and we're the dorks? Laughing

Nah, I think it's more involved due to its presence in Jamie's package along with the "primary" evidence.

What fails the litmus test about this idea that Slusho is so wholy unrelated is that Tagruato owns Slusho. Tagruato is unmistakeably a part of the backstory of this movie. There have been way too many ties of Slusho to the rest of this - like it's key 'secret ingredient' kaitei no mitsu (Seabed's Nectar) being on the 1-18-08.com site itself. The thinking of Peter Sciretta is apparently that if something isn't verbally discussed or made direct reference to in the movie, it has nothing to do with it. The movie is just a visual representation of a story, and if what encompasses the story is only what he can see - he's a very shallow person. Saying that Slusho has nothing to do with the movie just because we only have a glimpse of a t shirt is like saying Alex had nothing to do with The Big Chill.

As for Devin Faraci...
He's an excellent example of a living, breathing, real world troll.
This is a guy that has put down JJ Abram's work, called his fans stupid - then sponges attention off of both with his spoiler review (as imperfect as it was) of the second trailer. If JJ, his work, his fans, and this project were so unimportant he would have kept his mouth shut.

Speaking of which...

The fact is, he saw it and CHUD, AintItCool, and most of the other movie sites have a lot more pull and respect in the industry than UnFiction, which as I've said before, has become more and more of a joke since Cloverfield made its appearance on July 4th. This subforum has embarrassed an entire website. It's a real shame.

I could swear that you are Devin Faraci.
You've never posted outside this forum, joined only after this whole viral campaign came about, and yet act as if you know all about 'the rest of this site'. You consistently insult the regulars of this forum en masse, despite the fact that several of the most prolific posters here are very much of the 'old hands' of the ARG landscape on this site.
I can only conclude with one thing.
Play Nice.

Devin Faraci?? Puleeze... Chud is every bit the joke that they claim Uf has become. Obviously he gets inside news, obviously people go to his site for some information - no disputing it. But trapsing the landmine laden reviews, the scathing features and the higher-than-thou "I know something you don't know, therefore you're shit" articles has become tiring. The more controversy the moron tries to whip up, the more he alienates his readers and the studios who provide him with his content. They've come to throwing up porno ads to keep alive for cripes sake.

Take this dude with a grain of salt, Uf'ers. He's a web journalist on his way down grabbing at rungs on the ladder. Kick a little, he'll fall...

It just seems to me that Slusho! plays a bigger role in Heroes than it does in Cloverfield, and Heroes has little, if not, no connection with JJ Abrams whatsoever. Things just don't seem right... Shifty Eyes

Take note from this story posted September 18th, 2006:
http://www.heroes-tv.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=69
Quote:
J.J. Abrams, a producer behind a slew of shows on ABC, thinks NBC's "Heroes" is going to slay the competition.

That's according to his good friend and ("good luck charm") Greg Grunberg, who plays a cop who can read the thoughts of others on "Heroes."

Greg Grunberg is also strongly rumored to have a part in Cloverfield. It's obviously not too major a role, as he's not been officially credited yet. Starting to see where there's something of a connection?

Saucer of milk for Chud.com
"Quotes from Chud dood"

Now Peter at Slashfilm is reporting that these ARG enthusiasts may be even sadder than previously thought

That's not what Peter at Slashfilm reported.

Quote:
his sources tell him that Slusho, long believed to be a cornerstone of the Cloverfield viral marketing, has nothing to do with the film after all. There's no Slusho in Cloverfield.

Nothing to do with the film, except that the memos that are being shipped out with products related to the film (see Jamie Vid 5 for details) which tie into a backstory which was created for the very purposes of consumers like us - the target market / hype generators.

The Chud guy sounds like he enjoys reading his own type, because no one else will enjoy it. He's riding the media wave and hoping to get a name for himself - treat as troll and just ignore the five finger shufflemeister.

Chud might consider reassigning their writers.
