Interesting article Vostok Lake-extremeophiles http://www.damninteresting.com/?p=449#more-449
This article is interesting if you are as obsessed as I am, even
though it may not be directly related, if you don't like it,
then you go find something better.

My Guess.. DSI is actually the food source for GP(explains his size) and when the Chuai station begins harvesting it, GP gets pissed off as his food source is drying up..
I predict that in the days before the movie is released, GP will destroy Chuai station and head to NY.
How could folks in the US be drinking Slusho for weeks when it hasnt been approved for sale or distribution there yet?
Black market contaminated Slusho?

hmm just had a thought. Abrams is big into misdirection (viral marketing proof of that). Its a fact that Abrams was also very keen to create a Godzilla for the US. but heaps of those type movies have been made, eg. King kong. so what do you think he means.. well disregarding the 1998 Godzilla movie from the US Godzilla is actually an Allie to mankind. I think that is what Abrams really means, he wants a monster movie where the monster is not evil. then I thought, well what sort of animal could you possibly mutate in the real world that already has a very nice reputation... a dolphin..hmm bit corny, a whale? that actually conforms to some of the earlier speculation. that is why you would mutate a whale when you have alot more menacing creatures to choose from. but then who is the bad guys in cloverfield, well for some reason we have a mysterious 2nd creature (the parasite, stomache bursting thingys).. that would explain why rumours indicate 2 seperate species.. now as for the trailer where the statue of liberties head is ripped off, I think its deliberately put in to be misleading, I think the whole trailer is meant to be misleading.. so my bet, human antagonist=tagruato, human protagonist=the tidogroup, creature antagonist=stomache burster, creature protagonist=whale dude.

continuing from my previous message.. and based on the new trailer.. which really only adds a couple of extra glimpses of stairwells and the statue of liberties head... I would suspect the creature is p%%%Ed off with tagruato and whatever is on that fuel tanker. I bet the tanker try to flee but drew the creature to NY, I think my theory fits. I think big creature is going to assist defeating the many little creatures. if this theory is true the stomach bursters are probably mutated plankton or similar, something whales eat. again this new trailer isnt directly insinuating big creature is trashing the place, he/she could be trashing structures/statues the antagonists have infested.

hi again..I had to go back to the new trailer as I was contemplating if the statue of liberty was attacked by the big creature because it was covered in the little nasties then there will probably be evidence as the film will have to explain later why big creature undertook an evil act. so we will either need squashed nasties on the underside of the head, bite marks or evidence of sharp gripping feet etc. check it out peoples.. deep holes and puncture marks all over it, not just scrapes and scratches from it rolling down the street.

with JJ saying he wanted his own monster, one that has not been thought of before, i would think a plant monster would be out of the question.
Plant monsters have been around for some time. To name a few, Day of the Triffids, Little Shop of Horrors etc.
one actuall springs to mind when you speak of a plany monster. Biollante. A japanese monster from the godzilla movies. His spore breath could attack enemies and it had a taste for humans and enormous lizards alike
You may be right of course, but by that logic, all giant reptiles, mammals, birds, fish and insects would be out of the question since those have been done-to-death as well -- probably even more so than a plant monster. The fact is that there are very few entirely new ideas out there, though they can be expressed in a different and original way. The John Carpenter remake of "The Thing" is a great example of an old monster with a new take on it.
In any case, major leaks no withstanding, we are only about a month away from knowing for sure. It will be interesting to see what they've come up with.

Eggs. That's what I think the SBN is.
agreed , my thoughts exactly.
also
*the people at japan could be mutating as the events in the us are occuring the eggs could hatch when mama(aka mgp) wakes up after so many years.
*the japanese may have an ingredient they also add to the slusho. that basicly defertilizes the eggs and makes them hatching impossible.(revenge is a dish best served cold......(pun intended) and by revenge I mean Teddy trying to shut tagurato down.
there are still plenty of possible ways

based on past viral marketing productions does anyone know what the average number of websites are dedicated per marketing campaign? in other words is it likely there isnt anymore websites to be discovered?
while Im here, does anyone else in this forum work in the film industry?
P.S. my bet still remains that the monster isnt going to be the problem, its going to be the little nasties.

[scramble your eggs] I'm having a hard time believing that Seabed's Nectar would be eggs. I dunno... We've made all sorts of assumptions about people drinking the Slusho, and the eggs are being harvested that way- And perhaps I'm wrong, but people have been drinking Slusho for a long time and nothing terrible has happened to them, why now?
And I know many would say that the monster's presence, would have an effect on those that have consumed Slusho, but nothing adds up. If Marlena drinks Slusho [say at the party or even this month] it still doesn't equal up to the time that people in Japan have been drinking Slusho, and they've been doing it for some time now...

I think eggs is the right track, but I'm thinking that the DSI is actually plant buds or spores...something which can be easily harvested in some sort of manner and could grow back over all these years without having to be fertilized by some sort of creature.
