Dude... Simmer down it's a movie/tv show/Game.

They might not have had time to get "dried" ones and just chucked those in. It's a possibility even IF extremely far fetched.

yeesh! lol

Simmer down? One word in caps and an exclamation mark doesn't mean I'm angry, I'm just pointing out firmly that they aren't dried lemons.

Yeesh!

It's clear "Paramount" aren't going to help.

I've emailed & spoken on the phone to people @ their press office and was told that someone was on it as we spoke, to get me some answers and they'd email me.

That was 2hrs ago; you'd think that being as they work for Paramount, they'd have the answer I seeked by now... But perhaps they'll wait til start of the working day tomorrow being as I had to speak to people in the U.K office.

1. Can someone direct me to the post where someone deciphered the Survival kit as directions o break teddy out; "warm towel=cold and wet... small comb=small group of people combing the area...jerk=jerk/break him out of there....flare gun=shoot a flare when you get there..." and i forgot how the rest went. i remember really liking that interpretation, but now i've lost it.

2. Isn't there a way to break a code by using a word or letter as the key, and then changing the different letters using that key? I'm not 100% on how to do it, but I've seen it done. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, I would assume one of these letters would work: S, A, K, (Swiss Army Knife) T, I, D, O...

Sorry for the double post, but IMO:

"Swiss Army Knife" could be linked because it is a copyright issue. They may have intended to add realism to the blog by having hover-over referral ads or something. Also, the letters "S-A-K" may be capitalized because the trademarked Swiss Army Knives are always written that way.

$.02

That's a good point Mudd. But the thing w/ that as I've seen previously is; if they're doing it for that reason that underlining would link to a google/ad page and this does practically nothing.

I mean not to be pugnasious, it's a top point... But I mean how many "Causes" do you know whether it be IG or OOG link their specifics?

Right, MisterMudd, if you don't mind, I'm gonna quote you:
Quote:
1. "Warm towel"
(like you said, cold/wet place)

2. Dried fruit
(dehydrated? you can't drink the water? like a rig in the ocean?)

3. Small comb
(need a few people to search, or "comb")

4. Jerky
(quickly pull him/her/it out of there)

5. Flare gun
(wait for the signal)

6. Swiss Army Knife
(near switzerland? or be prepared macguyver style)

7. Compass
(find your own way to the meeting point? someone is lost? or you can only get there with a compass because there are no roads?)

I've been making pre-packaged "Survival Kits" of my own for distribution at Tidowave rallies. $30 per set. Please contact me on my cell for purchase.
(we will have the supplies, we need teams of about 30 people)

Sounds right. However, about the Swiss Army Knife thing, as I said earlier, the span tag only changes the aesthetics of text. It was purposely made to look like a link, but never had any potential off-site link. Thats a completely different tag.

Most "free" blogs do this automatically, or maybe to avoid copyright.

I am most likely way wrong on the motives here, but I think it is not the item listed in the number 6 position, but the number six itself they were trying to enhance.

We've been focusing a lot on the listed items in the December "Tips for the Field" blog entry, but what about the paragraphs? IDK if you guys already discussed this, but that first paragraph is worded really weird to me:

"Many of you have written in and complained that when you get into a demonstration situation and it goes array, you often find yourself alone in a jail cell for hours or trapped outdoors with inadequate food, clothing, or hygiene options."

Demonstration situation? (why does it have to be a situation? Why couldn't he just say 'get involed in a demonstration?)
Array? (Is that kind of vocab necessary? Why not just say 'goes wrong'?)
EDIT: Trapped Outdoors? (how can you possibly be trapped outdoors???)
Often? (plural after saying 'a demonstration'?)

I don't know what I'm trying to decode here, but what I'm saying is that this paragraph in particular could have been said a lot simpler and a lot more clearly. As for the second small paragraph:

"To address this need, I've created a "Survival Kit" of essential items to take with you to any gathering, should you be captured or forced to flee society for several days."

Captured? (another wierd word...why not say arrested?)
Forced to Flee Society? (what kinda demonstration would force you to flee society???)

Maybe if I knew exactly where adn how they are demonstrating, this might make more sense. And lastly:

"I've been making pre-packaged "Survival Kits" of my own for distribution at Tidowave rallies. $30 per set. Please contact me on my cell for purchase."

There's a couple of contradictions here. 1) The "Survival Kits" are distributed at ralleys...so why do you have to call in advance to purchase? 2) From what I understand, if Randy is running the blog, then who is me? I pretty sure it's not Randy because Randy has the Green Mobile...not the "cell" (unless he has 2 phones Confused )

I know, that's a lot of questions, and maybe I'm jsut being unreasonably paranoid about the section, but a little clarification would put my soul to a little rest.

As I've already pointed out, array is the wrong word. The writer meant 'awry'.

I don't see any problems with that sentence other than that though.

And that's the thing that jumps out the most for me. This is the kind of mistake
you would make if you were transcribing from a recording and heard the word
incorrectly. It's NOT the typical "typo" you'd make. Array "sounds like" (sort
of) awry, but it doesn't "look like" awry.

I'm a total noob at working on ARG/ARE's, so I have no idea what it might
mean. But it sure sticks out.

And commenting on another thread, why did the recorded music for the
Slusho! Distribution Opportunities page suddenly (and for no reason) change?

Array would make sense as a transcription blunder, esp. if the work was done under a lot of pressure. How this fits in, I'm not so sure. Similar errors could occur from translating phonetically similar language.

We can do that now? Shocked Silly Oh...wait...it's only got the moon and mars. Nuts. Now I'll have to do the tracking for my satellite-killing missile myself.
