I hope this isn't real, because I just read the whole thing and this isn't a 'spoiler' - it's a rundown of the whole film.

That said, it certainly sounds plausible, given what we know at this juncture. Then again, it sounds like you watched both trailer back to back and pieced together well known sequences and happenings.

So either you're lying, or most of the film was given away in the trailers. Either one.

Yup!

There's a few strange things which make me doubt it, such as the girl we see looking out of the helicopter is Lily, not Beth, and Beth seems to be next to Rob inside the other helicopter. That could be down to confusion though, as Lily also has deep gashes in one of her arms in the promo shot holding the door, I don't know. Also, where does that view of the jets from the skyscraper come from? I'd like to hear the reasons for them being up there.
Anyway, good write up.

And the white horse & carriage... when does that happen? Here's why I don't buy it:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If I saw the movie you described, and I had not known anything about it other than the trailer (i.e., I hadn't played along online), I'd think it was a dumb movie. Your story has two clear threats/plots going on: Ganu handing out Slusho to people and people exploding; and, meanwhile, a giant monster attacking the city. These have no apparent connection to each other - as you've described things - and neither are explained. And, I can't see Rob working for/with Ganu himself - no way. everyone walking out of that movie should have been saying, "what the fuck was up with that Japanese guy in the beginning and that soft drink? Why were people filling up with little monsters?" And, they won't be saying this in an excited 'that was cool!' manner, but in an angry 'I want my money back!' tone. If the movie is only about a monster attacking, then fine - they need not explain anything b/c we're all familiar with the basic concept. But, if they have some weird other element - other than the monster - they've got to explain it. If Slusho is making people bleed out and spawn monsters, they have to explain that, or at least explain why that's happening in a movie about a ginormous monster attacking the city. As you've described it, it's two movies in one, which could work, but not without some explanation.

So, no, me no buy. Besides, I wouldn't think that any longtime unfiction member would just post the whole damn thing like this. And, anonymously?! C'mon...

Also 'Something in the subway explodes and knocks HUD down' happens after Marlena dies?? We see that scene in the trailer and Marlena is very much alive.

We also briefly see Rob and Beth (I think) heading for the helicopter, who's filming here?

you need a gf...you have way too much time on ur hands to be thinking this up, half of these ideas are from wild-arse theories sitting on the first page of unfiction, coupled with snippets from the trailers (the only parts fleshed in detail)...

you didnt see the movie. as it was pointed out somewhere else ..no screenings until like two weeks before the movie...

Are the monster's eyes red because he's been smoking the same gear as the whistleblower ? Very Happy

Good, very good really but just not ringing true for me.

I didn't read the OP post, only the comments after (spoiler avoidance). But, I think I'll mark this and come back after seeing the movie to check how close it was.

Now, I don't buy this either. But I don't think this will be a movie where its own questions are answered. The movie is shot from the POV of its main characters, which would severely hinder the camera's ability to travel beyond them in order to answer questions. And after the damage is done, and Rob makes the "Seven hours ago..." video we see in the trailer, it's clear he doesn't have any answers either.

So if the characters themselves, as well as what the camera allows us to see, don't offer up answers to any questions, the casual fan might be severely confused. Then again, this film is taking its cues from "The Blair Witch Project" which didn't answer any of its questions either.

A fun read, regardless. Sounds like it'd made a good comic book. Smile

But yeah, my reservations (aside from the obvious) are same as the crowd's: If you weren't following the viral stuff, that whole open with Ganu/Slusho/etc. would seem totally out of place and absurd.

I do like the idea of a humanoid-esque monster though. Very Happy

The same can be said for Apollo candy. They need to put something in the film that would direct people to the Slusho and Tagruato websites. The purpose of Tagruato, judging from this guy's review, is to offer an explanation for where Rob is going. I think most people would see it as that, and not think much of it either way. The critical minded would dig deeper. Just like Apollo. The casual viewer probably didn't think much about it, but the Lost fanatics did.
