I think it's very likely there will be some kind of figure released, probably not a toy, but something. Merchandising is very commonplace now, even to demographics a movie wasn't even intended (T.I.N.O. was rated PG-13, and I've seen plenty of branded merch. geared for toddlers and Pre-K children).

[Off Topic]
Stating an R rating as for "grownups" (WTF?) is merely plausible deniability. The R rating is given to movies for excessive sexual content, gore, profanity and then in a brilliant stroke of irony label them as "Mature content". Most movies recently that have R ratings are complete trash aimed at High Schoolers. That's the majority of people I see standing in line for these movies. High school aged guys who are either A) going to see there own sadistic fantasies played out or B) taking some girl with them to try and worm their way into her pants.

What one thing made anyone logically think that this movie would be rated R? Both movies the teaser and trailer have debuted in front of are PG-13.

Maybe this movie wasn't designed to be a "Blockbuster", but it is expected to break even or, hopefully, make a little extra. They might make their budget back in theaters, but it's more likely to come in DVD sales.

I like how you guys are talking about The Grudge and The Ring, both movies which sucked balls and there sequels. The new 007 movie wasn't just geared towards adults either.

i can see one reason why people are wanting an R rating. this movie is supposed to be extreamly realistic and if they stick with PG-13 the wont be able to use profanity as much.
and i dont know about you but i would be screaming fuck as loud as i could if this was happening to me... not "AW FART HERE COMES THAT DARN MONSTER AGAIN!"

I didn't think about the movies they're being debuted in according to rating, i judged it according to how much they were going to make i.e. how many people would see it. If you want to get technical, the trailer played before the mist too, which was highly graphic and earned it's R rating.
I figured that a movie that was REALISTICALLY trying to portray a monster movie would give a realistic rating.
I think the only reason it has this rating is because it's not going to show the deaths...meaning it will only be that much more terrifying.
