my payoff is that i have a deeper feeling for the characters. most of the movies i see where the main people die, you really don't have too much sympathy when supporting characters get wacked because most of the story is spent getting to know the main hero(s). however in this film we have so much background it seems to give them more life, almost like they are real people. you get a feeling of down to earthness about the slusho 7, they don't come off as the traditional hollywood made up persona. they are all a tight group of childhood friends that grew up together and kind of remind me of the friends i have now that i grew up with. so seeing this tragedy unfold for them and knowing most will not make it, kind of gives a deeper sympathy factor. i feel that when i finally see the movie the story will have more meaning than the people who haven't been following the game.

I think you summed it up real well here...I honestly think JJ and his crew have set a new bar for innnovation in modern, large format storytelling. Eventually more and more studios will adopt this model as a marketing strategy. I see a lot of potential in this method...unfortunately like everything else in hollywood it will eventually give off an offensive odor due to oversaturation and dumbing down of the concept.

Which do I choose?

Twins! Sorry my friend, I will take the twins any day over a deeper sympathy factor! Very Happy

EDIT: Oh yeah, I would like to see another glimps of the monster, an eye, hand, something close up but not quite the whole thing.

I just want some FRICKIN answers. Very Happy

That's the payoff. I want to know what the monster is or if we ever even get to see it... I want to know if it even is a monster, not just some psychological gameplay screwing with everyone's heads... I want to know the meaning of the subliminal flashes... I want to know what the hell happened in the trailer. The trailers were just too cryptic for me. They obscured everything, hid all the answers, and showed you what you could already see. The problem is that the characters in the movie are in the same position that we, as the viewers, are. We both have the common goal of finding out just what exactly is happening, and none of us, (in theory) including the characters, find out until we see the movie. My payoff is beating the theory.

The key in the trailers was making everyone want to know, and thus prompting everyone to find out in whatever way possible, thus opening vast marketing opportunities like Slusho merchandise. And it's working. Our payoff is also their payoff, literally.

I just noticed that I've been spending like half my life researching something that's only gonna be an hour and a half. Wow, I really need to do something with my life.

Well...all I'm really hoping for is a good movie.
If the movie isn't very good, then it makes me feel like all of this was just a waste of time...even though it's been fun.
While most movies don't seem to live up to the hype...I'm hoping this one does.

When I leave the movie theater I want to say, "Damn! That was really good...I want to see that again!"
That would be the perfect payoff for me.

Speak for yourself, fancypants Very Happy I don't want to see the monster until i see the movie, but I want to know where it came from, and its relation to the DSI, hell, just more backstory in general.

That said, Mr Toastys request for a single non ambiguous puzzle would also be great.
