What have you learned? I got to thinking about the Wish's last question, "What have you learned"?
First and foremost, life is precious. Be thankful for what you have. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.
I've learned that I have a lot to learn.
That how ever you want to be treated, you must treat others the same.
That life and people aren't always nice and to take it and comments with a grain of salt.
I've learned to try and be more quiet when I 'm yelling. (I really have to work on that on a lot more, but at least I can acknowledge that I have to work on it ).
That I'm awful at solving puzzles, but I'm great at research and organization.
I've learned that you can have friends anywhere in the world and when you least expect them to be around, they are there for you. (thank you to those wonderful people).
I've learned that not everyone can be nice and that it's OK for me to ignore them. I can't change them.
I've learned that I'm not always right. And if someone isn't right or if I disagree with them, to go about my opinion in a NICE way.
I've learned that credit needs to be given where credit is due.
I've learned that it's OK to have your own opinion.
I've learned, suprisingly, that I actually have a clear conscious. (for the moment anyway)
I've learned that you have to see the good in everyone.
I've learned that you have to see the "bad" in yourself and work on changing it, if you really want to.
To quote Dave:
Quote:
Ursulla:
Congratulations. You have hit upon one of the key underlying themes of the game: the game itself was an exercise in discovering the archetypal heros and ideals within ourselves and restoring them to their proper place in our consciousness. The Enneagram is a key portion to understanding it all.
And I'm not posting this as an "I told you so". I'm just posting this because this is what Dave wanted all of us to learn. And I hope that the message came through loud and clear (I know it did for me). Esp. after all of his hard work. I have told him more than once I wish I could have just half of his brain. The ideas he came up with were incredible.
You did an awesome job Dave. Thank you for a truly wonderful experience.
And thank you to everyone one this board. I had a great time. Thank you for putting up with my childishness and my silly ideas. I just love to over analyze and boy did you guys do a great job humouring me.
What I haven't learned:
The Greywethers login. Now tell us Dave, PLEASE?????????????
That's about it (who am I kidding ).

What have I learned... What have I learned, eh, smalldene?
That all paths can lead to the answer.
That if one path is blocked, be willing to try another, until you find one that is not blocked.
That sometimes it is the path that is important and not the destination. (I knew that before I started this with you)
That sometimes it is in the irrelavent that we find the most answers.
That reverse engineering can be a viable solution to a problem.
That if you don't know where you are going, as long as you are moving you will get closer to where you want to be.
That sometimes it is the ones who do not understand what is going on that have the best answers.
That as much as we would like to suceed alone, we can get there quicker by working together.
That not everyone pays attention to the same things, and that is a good thing rather than a bad thing.
That I can't wait to do this again somewhere else.

I learned that everyone in the group plays a different role in a game like this (not that we don't all have multiple talents besides these)...
Magesteff was the researcher (thank god, I hate research)
Sunny was the relationship builder
dmax was the entertainment (I swear, you made me laugh at least once a day) and the chronic poster(Is he going to hit 1000 posts before year end?).
Diandra would suddenly appear to throw in a wonderful gem that none of us had thought of
grumpyboy would solve everything before I even got done reading the puzzle
and so many more...
Everyone has their strengths and when we put all of those strengths together magic happens. Wow that last line sounded really lame haha. Where did I fit in? I don't know. I don't think I solved anything. I didn't really form any important relationships with the characters except for maybe Jill. I guess maybe I was the secretary taking notes and putting EVERYTHING in that d@mn daily update on my site. THANK GOD IT'S OVER!!!

THANK YOU DAVE What have I learned?
That I am lurker
That I enjoy it
That I can admit it
That there are some DAMN intelligent people out there with time on there hands
That the best games do not have to come from a multi national conglomerate
That a game does not have to have a million popup adds every ten seconds
That Dave is a master who deserves respect and accolades from a far wider audience than those who played the game
That Lock Jaw was not then of the ARG world (thank god)
That a complete game could be put on with out having the plug pulled in middle of it
That we owe a debt of thanks to the Unifiction board and it's hosts for giving this game a home that did not cost my lunch money each week to use
That Aveena, jamesi, dnbmathguy did a great job as mods
That a minimum of flame wars made it all that much more enjoyable
That I do not have the time to be as involved as I would have liked
That as an avid reader of fiction this story was better than any best seller out there
That Dave is the Man
That Dave's Flash skills added incredible amounts if enjoyment to the game
That this game should serve as a model for games to come on how to do it right
That the game lasted way longer than I could have ever imagined and never once dragged along
That a PM can stay behind the curtain
That this game drew me in and would not let go
That the art of storytelling is not dead
That this game WAS art
That not enough people have said THANK YOU to Dave for what he has done
Thank you is not enough to express what I feel for the efforts that went into this game
Thank you Dave

Wow!
What could I add that hasn't already been said?
Of course, I already knew that Dave is DA BOMB! I had way too many things going on to properly enjoy the experience, but everytime I popped in to see what was up, I was continually surprised by how rich and diverse a universe CTW had become.
Dave, you deserve far more than accolades. I hope the experience was as fulfilling for you as it was for us.

I have to say I couldn't agree more to all of the above points. This was my first ever ARG and although I couldn't immerse myself as much as others, I'm grateful I was able to come along for the ride. What an experience!!
Thank you to all you vets for being so nice and accepting an ARG newbie like myself (and others) into the forums and chat.
Dave -> you da man.

I've learned that If I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't go looking any further than my own backyard. Because if it isn't there, then I never really lost it to begin with.
*erm*
Congrats, Dave!

Thanks Dave! I'll add a big thank you to the PM(s) as well. Dave and the people who gave him assistance all did a marvelous job. Yes, I am the ultimate lurker. I don't know if I posted once, but I read every post (although I admit I glossed over a bit of Magestaff's very thorough research).
Who knows, maybe (hopefully) I'll get more involved with Acheron. I need to organize my time better, but I give a deep bow to all the geniuses who frequent this nice forum for their amazing solves to some of the puzzles.
Oh, by the way, am I the only one who knows the greywethers login?

WHAT? YOU DO?!?
/me traces clrodrick's IP addy, goes to his house and holds him under house arrest until he agrees to tell. No, you can't even go out to the store to get cookies. Yes, I am that cruel.
Spill the beans!

From a mostly lurker who thought she'd have more time to play, what an excellent job you all did. Before CTW started I figured I'd have more time, no such luck. Now if the game was really bad (like Majestic) I would have had all the time in the world. hahaha
Again, Congrats on an excellent job. What I was able to be involved in was great.

I'm gonna take a break until Magesteff outposts me.
See you next week.

I learned a lot more about websites, html, jpgs, puzzles and codes (still can't keep them all straight), and there are a lot of interesting people all over the world who have all sorts of stories to tell.
Thanks for letting me be a part of this strange new world.
And I hope I get to see some old friends (whom I met in Las Vegas) and new friends, if I get to go to Orlando in November.
Thanks Dave for a wild ride. Hope you (we - meaning all of us) get to do this again.
Onward to Acheron!
