Yeah. It's fail.
People thought this was a Tremors sequel. Maybe it is. I hope Kevin Bacon is in it, anyway.

Couple Questions?

It looks to me like this confirms the reshot from the Original Transformers 1-18-08.com-leading Teaser?

It's alive? The way he says it, IT assumes something that is not NORMALLY alive? Leads me to thinking Inanimate Object?

confirms explosions were from tankers.

[QUES][SPEC] Just a few questions...

First of all, that clip wasn't quite what I expected, but decent, nonetheless. Secondly, I have a few questions that you guys just might be able to answer. I noticed that the party-goers automatically went to the top of the apartment right AFTER they watched the news. Of course, not everything in Cloverfield is in chronological order, so I may be wrong. So how exactly did the "party-goers" know to go to the top, was it mere instinct? And I also heard about the oil tanker being capsized. This is very peculiar in my point-of-view. Why? Because Tagruato Corp. works with oil, and I'm almost 98% sure that they have a base near NY City (Chuai Station, I know, but I'm too lazy to look if it has anything to do with oil). I know they drill there, but aren't they getting oil? Anyway, maybe it was just mere coincidence. Now, the oil tanker being capsized gives credence to the theory that the monster emerges from the water. I also noticed that about 5 minutes after the monster was seen, people started running, meaning that this monster has got to be HUGE. I speculate that this monster has to be really long, almost like a snake or an eel. It might even coil around NY. Laughing Well, my friends, that's my theory for now, and I'm sticking to it. Thoughts on this would be appreciated. Very Happy

Ok I just gotta say some stuff before reading all the posts (sorry, but I gotta get it off my chest).

First off. WOW, alot of things got connected, and explained.

We now know why hud says 'Its alive' in the shop, and we know where the monster shot fits in.

But daaaamn, this really makes me want to see the movie, and JJ did a smooth job on doing that whole contest thing.

But anyway, I though the clip was amazing. And im really looking forward to this.

Also, was it just me or was there no "Its alive its huge"

If you listen in the preview clip, the partygoers realize that they are pretty close to where the tanker capsized. A few of them decide to go up top to see if they can see anything, and the rest follow like sheep. Now, I might not be inclined personally to head to the top of a building after an earthquake, but I'm not a New Yorker either. Smile

As for the crowd running, notice there are two waves. The first wave is immediately after the fireballs start falling and the party heads outside. Those folks are dodging debris. There's an edit, and then another big crush of people run by right before the SOL head drops in. They're either dodging the incoming SOL head or they saw the monster.

And yeah, it's huge. Looks to be 15-20 stories tall at least. Right after the SOL head and before the building comes down, you get a glimpse of it passing by. Can't say how long it is, since it's only a quick glance, but it's taller than King Kong.

Hope that helps!

Maybe Rob and Hud and a few others are part of Tido. Tido members all apparently have an idea of what's down in chuai station. Maybe that's why Hud tried so hard to tell Rob that what he saw is "alive". Duh its alive it just tore up their street. Only him and Rob would REALLY know what it meant. Maybe Rob was about to go work for slusho or w/e as a Tido Agent.

There has been no confirmation of run-time for this movie.
But...yeah, I'm not expecting to be much longer than 90min.

As for just renting it...your loss.

90 minutes means really only one thing: HYPE over substance, or rather, hype at the expense of substance. The running time says it all...

Granted, no matter what, this movie will probably not live up to the hype, but with the ultra short length? This movie is guaranteed to be a bomb...and that's even IF people ultimately like the monster plot,,,which I have just realized means they are REALLY REALLY REALLY worried about audiences learning its identity before release...because 'hiding' the monster works (Godzilla still raked in the dough, even with it being a bomb). I don't think that it has anything to do with hyping the film... they are just trying to avoid negative reactions. This also means absolutely NO character development (probably the reason for all the movie related sites--betcha none of it makes the DVD) and much worse...we are probably NOT going to see much of the monster either way, because it costs too much to do the CGI (ala 'Transformers...did you EVER get a good look at any of them aside from Bumblebee?). This especially fits with the 'handheld' POV...it's the only way to effectively do make this sort of film at only $30mil. Everything screams 'cut costs'...

You have to look at this from the studio's perspective too.

Yes, a shorter film, the hand held POV, dark setting, etc. make for a lower cost film.

So are you saying that a film has to be expensive to be good? Don't you think a good script and good acting aren't maybe just a tad more important? I've seen plenty of cheap, short films that have been excellent.

I mean, you can make a bunch of assumptions based on the scraps of info and grand total of three 30 second trailers if you want. I'm personally going to wait to decide for myself. It's not been my experience at all that you can predict a movie's worth simply by the leadup to it when it's still a month away.
