Im not sure when you hear this laugh. But all I hear are roars, metal creaking (from the SoL head, and the building), but no laugh. I can hear things that sound vaguely like a laugh, but nothing that is defiantly one.

As a side note, having the monster laugh would be incredibly gay.

Hmmm, maybe its the statue of liberty?

It is a multi-sound beast. Remember the Raptors on Jurrasic? Clicking popping, screeching etc.

This thing would more than likely communicate subsonic as well as (obviously) vocally.

Guys, I highly doubt that's a laugh. I've listened to it a few times on my headphones (although they are not the best, so I could be mistaken) and I'm 100% certain it's a dog bark.

Furthermore, although a sentient, evil cackling monster would be absolutely terrifying and supremely badass, it doesn't fit. Everything we have run into so far (the camera style, the entire ARG backstory thus far) has hinted at this movie being meant to be "realistic" and "believable". Now, I'm not saying the monster can't be intelligent, but...

Think of it this way. Dolphins are intelligent, yes? But do they laugh? Laughing is a human noise, it's a way humans express amusement. No other animal uses the same method. If the monster was laughing, that would mean it had human-like qualities, meaning it is most definitely NOT a believable character.

I'd love to see this monster be intelligent/sentient in a believable way though...not just a rampaging beast.

Not a dog. Part of the roar. But not necessarily a "laugh".

Maybe the monster has a cold, or is athsmatic. It kind of sound like roooooooooooooaaaarrrrrr cough cough cough.

Ha, this is more believable.

No rudeness here. But after watching the clip several times, all I hear is a neighbor's dog barking after the roar and just as the earthquake rumble starts.

I'll use courtesy for silly people when you use proper grammar and spelling.

I'm safe for all time. Laughing

It's a dog.

The "laugh" is a barking dog.

Ha, this is more believable.

JJ might have been right when he said that we have never seen this type of monster before. I don't believe there has been an asthmatic monster.

That building that crumbles after we see the monster between the buildings. I believe that was the monster just leaning on the building because "it" (it might be a girl, you never know) had to catch it's breath and was wheezy.

Dolphins laugh
So do monkeys, dogs, hyenas, and rats to name a few.
