Dogs are not allowed in that apartment building.
Which means it's outside? And incredibly loud?

Not a dog. Part of the roar. But not necessarily a "laugh".

id love to think its a monster laughing, but as an owner of a large dog in new york(wait large dogs exist there :O!!!!!!!!!!!) i can tell you it sounds identical, as for stopping abruptly all dogs react differently to stressfull situations, on the 4th of july once my dog hears fireworks he barks once and hides in the bathtub(kinda funny actually) does'nt make a sound afterwards, for those who dont want to hear or except this rational explination, i suggest you also visit here then - http://listverse.com/science/top-10-inkblot-test-cards/ - there's tons of pictures of the monster there.

It's the dog bark that you people think is laughter. I thought it was a laugh too, but then listened to it again and I'm positive it's a dog barking.

Apart from the dog argument, what is with the guy sauntering along and checking his watch when the dust cloud rolls through? That is not normal behavior.

alright, after carefully listening to it, i've concluded it's a dog bark.

this is because you can still hear the low "growling" in the background between the "ho ho ho"'s or whatever, and the growling continues for a few seconds after the "laughter" (which is actually a dog bark).

If someone could split the sound up, it'd be easier to prove, but meh

soo would the dog's bark be worse then his bite to GrumpyPants?

as far as we know, they could be on a floor near ground level and have a window open while someone was walking by with their dog

When I watched the trailer first I heard it as a dog barking. Only after reading this thread did I interpret it as laughter. Sounds funny Smile , but I'm sticking with what I initially heard and really think it's a dog barking.

I think it's the monster
I don't think it's laughing

I've had to go back and rewatch the last two trailers, but I think this sound has appeared twice before already.

In the first trailer, just before the SoL head smashes into that building, there's a sound - to me it sounded like transformers transforming.
The sound begins at 1:30 of this version of the teaser: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nL9izUhdjtg while the monster is roaring, just before the 'cuckoo.'

Same sound is heard at the 21-second mark of this version of the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufYF0f-zMgY. It's also around the 1:30 mark of this video.

While that transforming sound isn't quite the laughing at the beginning of the exclusive, it demonstrates a 'vocal range' that the monster is operating under. I think that laughing is a precursor to the transforming.

At least, i did when I started writing this thing, anyhow. I'm not entirely convinced any more Crying or Very sad

I still believe that's the monster, though. You can take it to the bank, ... well, my bank anyhow. I'll honour (honor in America) that check. (cheque in Canada).

I'm going to listen several times tonight. But I've found that the best ideal is what you hear before you hear any opinions. Once you hear it's a dog or laughter, your mind is going to make you think you hear what you want to hear.

When I heard it, first thing that popped into my head was evil laughter. Since I was dead-on about "it's alive, it's huge," I'm sticking with laughter for now. Razz
