Okay. Time to get serious. If the movie really lapses like that, will there be a chance at the end of the movie where an Army official turns on the camera and starts to view its contents? If so, I have a totally sequel-making ending:

-End of PoV as the camera shuts off. Reverts to Hollywood style film-
Some Army General talking to the Dept. of Def in Washington D.C.

"And so, ladies and gentlemen of the Department of Defence, as you see in this "Cloverfield" evidence, we're dealing with something surreal. An order for immediate wartime supplies must be ordered- this thing is still out there. While we are still safe in D.C., I reccomend..."

Monster Roar. GP is approaching the nation's capital.
Screams and everything as GP is attacked by emergency forces.
Boom. GP is on the screen in full HD view, not the Handheld view. The General sees it out of the window and curses. GP goes into a seizure and grows. Now it's waay larger than before.

The monster yells out a more intense roar as jets, tanks, and soldiers engage into battle.

Screen says either "To be continued..." or the credits roll.

This is one of the best cliffhangers that I can think of.

the POV is as much a part of the film now as GP... you pretty much can't have one w/o the other or it'll be a flop like the "Blair Witch 2."

And you're really bent on our monster growing aren't you? I still don't think it came out of the tanker... I'll be pissed if it did.

Oh no. I like this theory, but a better ending would be just an Army General briefing some people about 'Cloverfield', and showing the footage. After turning it off, and explaining the situation there is all of a sudden a shake and a loud roar like at the party. During the shake the power goes out making everything dark. - Credits Roll.

That would be amazing.

...seizures? And honestly, I don't think no one would notice MGP traveling across the Eastern Sea-border on it's way to D.C.

And let's keep it relevant to what was in the tanker? Confused

Yeh, sorry. Got carried away.
Anyways, as I once mentioned, is it possible that GP followed the tanker into the harbor AND not get detected? I theorize a mutated radar-proof hide/scales/skin like stealth planes.

Maybe it was swimming under the tanker. Radar images are 2D, and wouldn't pick up the extra mass underneath it. Well... at least I think they're 2D. It's what the Hunt for Red October reminded me of... the sub underneath the tanker... or maybe it was a different movie... damnit, I can't remember right now. Embarassed

Maayyybeee... but wouldn't the tanker captian notice?

"Captain, there's a large creature under us!"
"Pft, I'll bet it's another Godzilla ripoff."
"No captain!!! I'm serious!!!"
"Why so serious?"

So that seems unlikely, but good thinking. I do like my stealth-hide theory better.

last line of the movie probably wont be dialogue... it will be an offscreen grumpypants roar or the sound of the secondary creatures.. assuming they exist.

p.s. who termed him grumpypants?

Well... I dunno... they did it in the Hunt for Red October, but those were some pretty stealthy submarines...

Either way, there probably won't be an explanation for that. The movie revolves around a group of friends unrelated to pretty much anything else that happens. They might stumble across more news or explanations from government or military, but I doubt it. I guess it'll be left to speculation.

True. We're taking this too far to be shown in thearters in the rumored 90 minutes.

RandomKid actually has a good point!

Maybe the US was suspicous and sent out some of the forces in case it was a glitch. Then they sent out all of them thinking the explosions were terrorists/attack. They can't be there immediatly, since the closest military base is'nt next door to lower Manhattan.

You know what? That's brilliant. I think that might be the only proposed explanation for the immediate military arrival in New York thus far. It makes complete sense. A Sonar station detects an unidentified ship or object entering the harbor, and contacts the military. I'd assume warships are on the way too, but by the time they get there, MGP is out and about, roaming on the land.

Bravo. We just hit a mark. Now should we go back to the Tagruato tanker, or do we start a new thread enititled: "Military Response to GP's Appearance"?

Or maybe a thread has been made regarding this?If so, someone send me a link, plz?

I'm not so bent on believing that the military knew so much about MGP.

"What is that thing?"

"I don't know, but whatever it is- it's winning."

I mean, The way I see it is the newest trailer to be released, in many ways, was a message to the fans that have been following this A.R.E.

I mean, from what I gathered from the trailer is that the military know very little about what they're dealing with, and that Rob knows very little about what's going on.
