If you have yet to see the Cloverfield trailer in theaters, I'd highly recommend going to see I Am Legend. It was quite a good movie. I screamed twice. You also, as mentioned in the title, get to see the epic trailer. If you missed Beowulf and didn't go to see the crap that was "The Mist" then definitely go and see I Am Legend this weekend. Great film, great trailer; maybe get a free Cloverfield poster from your movie theater. Either way, I now have a picture of myself standing where the SoL is on the massive cardboard cut-out.
So if you really want to see it in theaters, this is probably the last good movie it'll be in front of.
The Mist was far from crap. It was a good movie that showed what human nature is capable of in times of duress. If you watched it expecting a great monster movie, than of course it failed on very many levels.

My son watched I am Legend last night here in Chesterfield Michigan and he said there was a Cloverfield trailer. He also said that people in the theater acted like they had never heard of it before. Even his friends who were with him had never heard of it.

No, I went in expecting a good movie.
Anyway, I live near Chesterfield, I dunno if it really matters on location whether you get it or not.

No trailer? The reason many of you haven't seen the trailer is because it actually isn't a trailer at all.
It's an advertisement for the movie theater chain Carmike Cinemas-a large chain mainly found in the southeast. The ad's all about going to see Cloverfield at a Carmike Cinemas location because its "better" in digital projection.
The trailer actually has a voiceover with a typical "movie voice" speaking over the action. No really interesting points were shown except for one shot near the middle of the ad showing the brooklyn bridge(?) collapsing where the camera appeared to be about to cross the bridge.

I saw I Am Legend tonight, and saw the cloverfield trailer as well, as well as the trailer for Dark Knight (which looks legit).
Gotta say i was deeply disappointed with I Am Legend. 3/5 stars for me, AT BEST.

I saw the Mist in Niagara Falls, NY, last weekend, complete with Cloverfield trailer, but without the "movie voiceover guy" talking over it. My suspicion is as follows: if you're watching/watched Transformers or Beowulf or the Mist or I Am Legend in standard projection format, they didn't include the Cloverfield trailer, because a guy I work with saw the Mist last weekend at home (Western PA) in a theater that uses standard projection, and it didn't have the trailer.
I'm guessing Cloverfield is like The Dark Knight (which I also saw the trailer for before the Mist - overall, one of the best batch of trailers I've seen in a movie this year), where they're only running the trailer in the digital projection theaters.
As for the poster who commented about the theater manager not giving away the free posters, I'd call their corporate customer service number and file a complaint against that guy. If he's keeping the Cloverfield posters for himself and/or the employees (I'd almost guess he's going to sell them on eBay), then he's (most likely) violating the theater chain's agreement with Paramount to distribute the posters, and he could be in very serious trouble. And if he does attempt to sell them on eBay, that's essentially stealing from his job to make a profit and he shouldn't be allowed to keep his job.
As for the Mist, I really enjoyed it, although the ending left me feeling like I'd just been punched in the stomach, EXTREMELY hard. Having a child of my own not much older than Big Bill, I can't even imagine the pain, guilt, and grief Thomas Jane's David was going through. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie up to that point, but I walked out of the theater very somber and immediately called my daughter to tell her how much I love her. (I was out of town for my company's Christmas party and killing time until my return flight home.)

Mist (No) Legend (Yes) not sure why I saw the Mist about two weeks ago and there wasn't anything special in terms of trailers before the movie (except 10,000 BC) BUT I saw I Am Legend last night and there was the new Batman trailer, Cloverfield trailer, 10,000 BC trailer, a cop movie with Ed Norton, and ... a new Rambo?
Anyhow, that's southern Ontario. the trailer's in theatres here now. Nothing special about the theatre's reaction to the trailer.

Saw I am Legend Friday did get the trailer in fact its slightly different. The helicopter crashing scene is a little longer. Maybe double what it is now, which would make like 4 seconds. When the commercial came on everyone got quiet and I heard some folks start whispering "this is that movie!!" It was great. By the way I'm in tennessee, and it was Rave Motion Pictures (sometimes certain theaters get certain trailers) Hope it helps!

YES!!!!!!!!!!! Saw I Am Legend tonite and thank God, the trailer for Cloverfield was the first one shown, and to my wonderful surprise, about twenty percent of the packed theater cheered when it came on, so i think alot more people know about this than i first thought
By the way, Legend is a great movie, one of the best most intense movies ive seen in awhile

Just got back from watching I am Legend... wow, what an amazing flick... I loved it. I was gripping the theatre seat with my butt the whole time, no kidding. :::LOL::: Totally bawled when Samantha died.
Anyway... They did indeed play the trailer on the big screen, I was excited to see it as clear as it was, and I finally noticed the tipped building resting against the other one, etc. It made me all the more eager to see the movie. I also liked the exclamations from teh other people in the cinema, who hadn't been obsessing over the first trailer since Transformers.
Very cool. Both trailer and Legend.
BTW... did anybody notice the superman/batman billboard in Legend during the deer hunt scene? I was like... "Oooh, are they trying to tell us something? A little hint or nod ot the people who pay attention to that maybe? Schweeet!! I hope so... and if they are making that movie, I hope they don't 'gayify' superman so much this time. And they should lay off the CGI a bit this time. New batman flick! Score!
[edit for clarification..]
