Ok I'm saving I Am Legend for when my IMAX gets it for TDK prologue so I appreciate the lack of spoilers for a guy like me who never read the book. For some reason my IMAX isn't showing it yet.

Anyways trailers are a crap shoot at most small to mid level theaters, we didn't get a Cloverfield trailer in front of Transformers but we did get one with Beowulf, and I know some of the guys who put the trailers in front of movies at my local theaters and if they aren't into it you may get it in front of one movie, but if they love it it's in front of every movie.

Just got back from watching I am Legend... wow, what an amazing flick... I loved it. I was gripping the theatre seat with my butt the whole time, no kidding. :::LOL::: Totally bawled when Samantha died.

Anyway... They did indeed play the trailer on the big screen, I was excited to see it as clear as it was, and I finally noticed the tipped building resting against the other one, etc. It made me all the more eager to see the movie. I also liked the exclamations from teh other people in the cinema, who hadn't been obsessing over the first trailer since Transformers.

Very cool. Both trailer and Legend.

BTW... did anybody notice the superman/batman billboard in Legend during the deer hunt scene? I was like... "Oooh, are they trying to tell us something? A little hint or nod ot the people who pay attention to that maybe? Schweeet!! I hope so... and if they are making that movie, I hope they don't 'gayify' superman so much this time. And they should lay off the CGI a bit this time. New batman flick! Score!

[edit for clarification..]

I saw this too. Did you also see the part where it said 2010? I'm pretty sure it was just a shameless plug for the new Justice League of America movie, which comes out in 2010. JLA features both superman and batman as well.

The TDK prologue is worth the wait. Wink

I saw I Am Legend in IMAX and that was the only "trailer". No cinematic Cloverfield for me yet. Crying or Very sad

Just as a mention for people who are seeing the Dark Knight trailer, and may not know... there is a game happening for that movie as well happening right now. I would suggest giving it a look if you are into Batman. I think the Dark Knight game is awesome and 1-18-08 players will enjoy it.

For info check the CF with potential section of this forum, all the Dark Knight threads are labeled [DK]. And here is a link to the wiki guide which can help you catch up.

No, I went in expecting a good movie.

Same here. I think the CGI killed it a little.
What I really hate about all the CGI stuff is that they can't help but go too far. Like the roaring humans, they open their mouths so wide they would have to unhinge their jaw. It looks stupid. And then they're so puppety looking when they just zip up and down lightpoles and the faces of buildings like geckos.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Did the virus give them sticky hands and feet too? I mean super-human strength, I can buy, but they need to rein in the urge to overdo it.

It was a great movie, no doubt, but I wish they'd tone down the CGI, and keep some realism in there.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Put some actors in good makeup for the scenes where pissed off Zombie-leader glares at Will Smith, and emotes his annoyance that Will took his babe.

Urgh. That's the second reason why I never saw Beowulf. It's just... soulless with all that CGI.
I agree
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Apparently a mutated strand of measles gives people the abilities to climb buildings and the desire to feast on human flesh. Bullshit. I could believe the recession of hair and pigment of the skin, but c'mon...that was just unbelievably unrealistic.

I think if it was more like the actual book it would have been a thousand times better.

Saw "I Am Legend" here in Cincinnati. Will Smith was suprisingly very good. Overall pretty good movie. I agree that cgi went a bit too far though.

Cloverfield trailer was shown and I'm embarrased to say... I got cold chills!

I saw Beowulf in 3D (not IMAX, but REAL3D)
No trailer (they were only trailers in 3D)

Saw I Am Legend the next Night (Saw Beowulf Friday, when I AM LEGEND sold out, and we missed it, but we saw IAL on Sat)

No Cloverfield trailer in either one.
(@ COBB Theaters in Palm Beach Gardens, FL)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

the CG in IAL pissed me off... looked completely fake, except maybe the female on the table that he captured, until she woke up, and even when she "cleaned up" it looked horrible... The dogs looked fake... etc. The city looked great, and they obviously spent most of their time on making it look aged.

btw
Yes, it was a mutated measel virus, but it was mutated to attack the cancer, ultimately giving humans rabies-type symptoms. The whole aggression thing makes sense. but since it was a genetically altered form, the infected we're "clean-blood-hungry", as if the cancer fed on new blood, now... i didnt notice them actually eating people... They were without fear, so they didnt hold back when it came to climbing a building or running into cars. (they used the window sills to scale the side of the house, btw... not too hard if you'r not afraid of falling)

also,

about Beowulf.. The CG was so much more worth it. especially in 3D. The 3D was subtle in most scenes (not outrageously obvously like that live-action Brandon Frasier "to the center of the earth" movie). The characters had personalities, thank god, and it was quite a sad story.

i recommend to see Beowulf in 3D if you're ever going to see it.
I suggest stray away from IamLegend in IMAX, b/c you'll definitely see the fakeness on a huge screen... lol

Saw "I Am Legend" yesterday at the Rave in Hoover, AL. The trailer was different with different scenes longer and others not included, one of the main differences I remember (I was drinking) was when rob is on the phone with Beth before it was "Beth, Beth Where are you". In this one you hear her reply, "I'm bleeding I can't move"

They were also promoting their Midnight show on Thursday with free one-time use cameras for x # of people to document their story.

Truth, saw it myself.

AVP was a lot better than the first one...but make no mistake, it wasn't as good as it could have been or should have been, but was about as good as you could have expected it was going to be.

Three outta six stars.

AVP (the first one) was MUCH better than the newest AVP-R. Seems like the creators of this latest one just jumbled together every moment from the films they could think of ad naseum. At least the first AVP had a few good fight scenes and some suspense. In this one, it was so freaking dark and rainy that you couldn't see anything, and the cameras cut away too much when something was on screen. Bad directing...either show it or don't. No new cool gadgets for the Predators either, just the same ol stuff. They broke the biology boundaries of the Aliens too,,,now they incubate and are fully grown within 20 minutes. There were no 'cool' moments or re-watch values and I predict a quick to DVD move for this one...just crap!

The first Alien films really made you 'scared' of the Xenomorphs, and in awe of the Predators, whereas in this film all you felt was the urge to blow them away. A guy next to me literally was asleep for the majority of the film.

'I am Legend' was good, but all the CGI complaints and the poor ecology of the 'darkseekers' is warranted. The movie would have been just as good if the zombie like people were more like those from Heston's 'Omega Man'. Will Smith's movie succeeded mostly in making you feel the bleakness of being alone on the planet.

As for the Cloverfield trailer....seeing it in front of Will Smith's movie, I got the eerie feeling that this movie has suffered from VERY bad screening reviews or something. The advertising spot was more like one of those 'hey this movie's been out already for 5 weeks now, PLEASE go see it'!
