Interesting discussion, people. Cloverfield = mainstream vs. underground? I think, this movie has at least two levels: it's action for mainstream, and underground for insider with the whole Cloverfield universe, and that's great for a movie.

My most favourite movie was "Avalon" (from "Ghost in the Shell" maker Mamoru Oshii), so it has also the same scheme: it's action and in the same time very philosophical parable about reality. But the action sequences were lame for an action movie, so the most people seeing this as action were disappointed.

What I want to say is: "Cloverfield" (I say it even without seeing it) will suggest various opinions, and the more opinions means the better movie.

I look calmly about the press invasion of PM, 'cause, people, they do it not for us, they do it for the another level (mainstream), which is truly the huge (and alive) target group, compared to us.

We've got enough in our ARG, and we will get more, I suppose. I'll continue ARG and ARE on the MySpace till the end, because for me the calamitous interviews don't exist till Rob or HUD will discuss about it in their MySpace blogs Wink

You have to admit this is one of the most original films/ideas in hollywood in many many many MANY years. And knowing that it could open the door for other artistic ventures makes me happy.

Just out of sheerest curiousity, how is this original? It's a monster flick with a viral campaign. It might have been original, if the viral was all it had... or if they'd kept the title under wraps till the very end, or left it 1-18-08. This is just another movie. A cool-looking one, to be sure, but there's nothing particularly groundbreaking in it.
