This looks like a Mission Clue before Bk 3. Similar to Mission 1 - Loch Ness before Bk 2. Just guessing, but I think we got another Training Mission to do before we get to the Taj.

Wouldn't that be great!

You did just great and thanks for the code!

I'm new and I know this is old but...

Question wacaga were you thinking deaf Question Maybe caused by Grace's experimenting

I am not following you. Are you implying that Grace experimented on her brother and made him deaf? What about the age difference between Fiske and Ned?

I find it helpful on clue cards to pull card up online and click print. This takes me to a pdf preview that I can zoom the image and get a better look.
Sure, but the print option is not there on all of the cards -- typically when we need to solve a puzzle. I guess that's what you meant by "clue cards". I find that there is alot of detail on many of the cards that I wish there was a way to zoom into all of the cards. Has anyone come up with any trick for that?

Last, on the cover of Book 2, what painting is reflected in the glass shard?

From the transcript of the chat with Gordon Korman that sapagoo posted:
Quote:
_maryag28_: On the cover art for One False Note, Who is pictured in the shard? Is it W.A.Mozart, his sister, or DaVinci's Mona Lisa?
Gordon_Korman: Wrong on all three counts -- but it's a really good catch!
I can't come up with any better guesses than that. I started some googling and this drawing of Mozart's wife Constanze at 19 sort of looks like the reflected image:
http://www.themozartcafe.net/constanze.html

I was thinking that the music on the shards might be a clue. Has anyone tried to treat that as code and turn it into a message?

Newbie

Hey I'm new here. I found this thread when I was googling to see if I was missing the online mission #2 somehow. (I gather I'm not). I first came across the books when I was home for the holidays and helping my younger brother with a book project using book 1.

Well I got hoked though I am at a standstill untill I recieve my own copies of the books when I go home to my parents again. But that means I don't have much to say in the way of theories however I do have one regarding the branch of Amy and Dan.

I prpose they are true Cahills and therefore show different traits from each branch in varying degrees and situations. My reasons are below.

--I thought it suspicious that they carry their mother's last name. No other family member put so much emphasis on the name.

--I think a plausible solution is this. Each of the Grandparents was from a different branch and married another branch. So when Hope and Arthur married their children were from all the branches.

When I have the books I'll try and find traits in each of them from the branches but I maybe what happened was some people in each branch realized the split with their leader who only wanted power and not the good of mankind (like when Franklin split with the Lucians) and they decided to work together.

Okay now I'm rambling...does this make any sense?

Welcome bando2! We're always looking for more good theorists! Yes your idea does make sense... at least all but the last part. I am not sure that I quite follow that part. Can you explain that part a little more?

[C39]I found something in the shards!

OK, I am going to pull a gilbo here and answer my own post. Smile
I opened the inside cover to see if there were more shards and I found something! It looks like is it identical to the front cover, but shifted a little so that it does not include the sword, plus the 39 Clues logo is not there. Instead you can see another shard. There are letters written inside the staff that combined with the notes spell out GIDEON. I have done some searching, but have not yet come up with anything. Sounds like a job for katsmom!
EDIT: Just noticed that Jekroxrox posted that earlier. Sorry for the trout.

Well I was thinking that currently the branches are very fierce rivals (it reminds me of the house in Harry Potter) And so normally they wouldn't be able to marry one another because they detest each other. But I don't think this is always the case. There is a letter from Franklin to the Lucian leadership in the secret archives where he breaks from the leadership because he thinks they are drifting from their goals. (Am I allowed to post a quote from the letter?)

What if he wasn't the only one throughout history? What if the other leaders think the same and have had agents part ways. What if they met, started working together and then some ended up marrying each other until what I mentioned before was achieved? It might explain why Amy and Dan were encouraged to develop their skills like collecting and their thirst for knowledge, but were never specifically trained as the Kalbras were.

I hope that makes more sense.

I immediately thought along those lines as well, but I didn't think it would be related. I have not finished the book. I was trying to link it to the face reflected in the shard, so I have been googling along those lines. Not sure if there is a painter with that name or it might be the subject. I am having zero luck with all the hits I am getting. That's why I have called upon katsmom. She is an expert at fine-tuning her google searches.
Here's my best theory-- Gideon is a reference to the Gideon Trilogy written by Linda Buckley-Archer. Since it appears that all ten books will be written by different authors of popular children's books, perhaps LBA will be one of the authors.

When I looked at his card, the card now states that he is from "Loch Ness, Arkansas", while the text still refers to Experiment, GA. I looked on google maps and there are a bunch of street names beginning with "Loch" in Mountain Home, Arkansas, one of which is Loch Ness..

Good catch. I emailed them and they will be changing the information sometime this month.

So, they seem to be admitting that it was an error. I will be watching to see which they change -- the text under the card or the card itself.

I just checked and they have changed the George McClain card back to a hometown of Experiment, GA. That was weird.

saw alice posted about card 41's russian text. she must have deleted it while I was researching. The russian text on the back means KGB archiv (ch sound like Bach in German), probably meaning KGB archive.

Person on the Shard of Glass

I believe the person on the glass shard is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Marie Antoinette.
If you check the Copyright page before Page 1, you'll find that credit is given for the image of this person. Also, she is mentioned as a contact in Book 2. I apologize if someone else has already posted this theory, but that might save you some time Alice!

I can provide 415, but I didn't know we even found 418. I know that there seems to be one new card in the "my cards" section.... but I didn't see any new ones listed in the credits section. Anyway, here is what we have so far:

Edit: shortened url - sapagoo

Card 418

Actually card 418 most likely exists, cause if you type in " The 39 Clues" into Google, and enter the Wikipedia page. Under "Cards" card 418 is listed at the end.
But it must be a new card because its not in the table, and the page was updated on the 7th.
