Card groupings
I am probably reading waaaay to much into this...

So just some general observations, I got my first card packs today.

I was idly grouping the cards I have into books though once again I haven't read number two. well I should say I grouped my Agents secrets and locations. The founders don't seem to fit into the books (I think we learned about them online) nor do the bonuses. I think we will use those groups more later. I'm not sure if this will go anywhere because there seems to be a lot of cards we haven't been introduced to yet in the books but we have online.

I also completed the Magic box card wondering if it had any kind of code on it. I didn't see one, but I only looked for the basic alphanumeric code. Have we been given any other codes that use numbers? The same thing happened when I completed the magic square in the secret document the card unlocks-- no dice.

when I grouped the cards I have by brance I noticed something interesting about the Cahill branch. Grace seemed to be teaching her daughter the skills she would need to clue hnt at an early age and also about all the branches not just one. Card 64 has a logic puzzle about all four branches. Logic is an ekat trait (and also Lucian) Card 67 about the subway is also connecting all four branches. The magic box card is Lucian but the magic box is a note from Grace to Hope seeing is she can figure it out.

And lastly, on card 68 grace's hide away I can't be the only one to notice the lines under the words in the secret document. Is it a code? The letter is odd enough that I think it should be.

Man I'm tired and I rambled let me know if none of that is coherent.

Thank you for finally posting your codes Wind Lane Wink

I think I'm going to become a camera code policewoman. There are still a few of you who haven't given out your codes, but do a lot of posting on here. you know who you are and I'm watching you Laughing Fork them over Laughing Laughing

camera card 51 on the wikibruce is from my audio cd. I just checked.

And thank you all who have just posted numbers! The more the merrier.

Bando2, there are a few card pages that have words underlined. Some of them make phrases that make sense, others like this grace one are just confusing. Some of the pages have words in all Caps as well. There is sure to be somethng in these, but what that something is right now, I don't know.

I now have 55 card codes, and I know I've gotten an extra from the web somewhere. I must have been at work and just cut and paste it in without writing down the number. I'm not holding out, and for the life of me I can't find that missing number now.

missm, I look forward to getting bunches of codes. Are your students putting together their theories in any systematic way? I'm curious about how you are exploiting the books as well. I'm not teaching the younger ones anymore, but am going through these books with my daughter. The funnest thing for her so far has been a monopoly type boardgame we made. Each outer tile has places they have been and the cards have questions about what we hae researched so far.

My surveillance camera code theory
Hmm..............

I now have 54 surveillance camera codes. Whather it's a curse or a gift is hard to say.

It could be a curse because the card says to use it to spy on "other cahills" which could mean that the more codes we put in, the more people that could be spying on us.

On the other hand, it could be a gift. We may be able to use these codes to spy on any other cahill of our choice and sort of hack into their account.

Lastly, it could very well be a scheme to get us to pass these codes to our friends and making them interested in the series and in the end making them buy the cards too and making the bookstores and Scholastic very happy indeed. There may not be any special "powers" to these surveillance camera codes.

In the end, it's up to you all to decide what these codes are for.

39 Clues Club

I wrote to Scholastic and got a few books/backpacks/posters/t-shirts sent to the school to advertise and promote the books - and played the movie to the first gathering of kids who came to meet up. We meet once a week for an hours and the kids who don't have internet access at home are most interested in playing the games when we meet up. A few of the kids and I sat down to play the game (we tried only using my set of cards - didn't work so well) which they were eager to do, but only one of the students seemed to pick up the rules quickly. It was pretty complicated and we didn't get finished in the hour. I was also disappointed. I gave each kid a workbook in the colour of their branch for them to write ideas down, codes, etc. while reading and playing the game. With some coaxing, they're awesome at sharing info and helping one another out with the games - they're all ranked in the 1000's overall though lol. Because most of them don't have additional cards, we're relying mostly on the book and online missions - but I'm not complaining! A lot of the students are in the Special Education Unit and have finally gotten an interest in reading!! No new theories though. One boy thought about writing down all the italicised words from the book to see if they meant anything. Bless.

I never thought of that. I hope he comes up with something. Although, it will probably be just a random group of sentences.

Are they sharing their secret archives with each other, or are those staying secret Laughing

I envy you being able to play this through the eyes of many children. I enjoy seeing my daughter notice things, but at her age, it's not many things she notices to be honest. It's more of a questioning sort of "what does that word mean" then getting sidetracked by a new word.

I hope you will keep us updated on your groups progress throughout the game.

Mission 2 release date

Judging by the dateline for the arena 39 games for episode 1, which is 31st of december 2008, i think more likely we have to wait till AFTER that date for mission 2. I hate to say it, but i think we are in for a very, very long wait. Crying or Very sad Sad Cursing

P.S. What are we gonna do about what1000144? Could it be another hacker?

As anyone noticed that on the link in the decoder card, I can't be bothered to look it up, he doesn't have a Tomas code. Maybe, William is a go between for the Holts and the man in black?
If you can't be bothered to look it up, I won't be bothered to either.

I can just see everyone cutting and pasting that long list of numbers to see which one is missing Laughing
Sure, go ahead and laugh. Mad I went backwards and only went back until I found one that I was missing. I am up to date with the 51 that sapagoo has on wikibruce (plus the few that just got posted), and that will have to be good enough for me! I have research on swords to get started on, ya know!

katsmom wrote:
And Alice, I don't have a spell check when I post. Is there a button I don't see or something I haven't clicked?
I dunno. Perhaps there is some setting that I have on my computer that I have configured? While composing, the typos show up with a red underline. When I right click on them, it provides suggested spelling. I take it yours doesn't do that?

Excellent idea. Very Happy Can you also do something about those guests that refuse to join?

Why are people trying to cheat after what happened to other cheaters? And I think that the people who are cheating are too old to win anything so... why?
Why did the chicken cross the road? I am sure that the cheaters are just interested in seeing if it can be done. I have not cheated, but I have tried to figure out how it is being done. When you think about it, it is just another puzzle to work out. I thought that there must be some temporary file (maybe a cookie) that the score is stored to before being transferred back to 39 clues. I looked, but didn't find it. The score might be stored in memory, and that would take significantly more sophistication to find the memory block that holds the score.

I don't think that adding these codes will be detrimental to us in any way for two reasons:
1: I don't think that scholastic wants to have to remember where the original codes came from (whose user got the card first) Rolling Eyes
2: Why would you want to spy on these people anyways????? what good would it do you??? it seems to me that all you could do would be to watch them do missions, or now that i think about it, the only thing you could really do would be to steal cards from them Very Happy . i still don't think that's likely.

This is i think, the most likely, other than sticking surveillance codes on agents and seeing what they're doing

I was wondering...

Why do we post surveillance camera codes? It's useless if you already have one. P.S. katsmom is now decorated.
