Hey

The stolen file number is the same as the number of the card to get to the stolen file.

I agree with the idea. But the clues span the books and the cards so perhaps something like.....

i)card trading and collecting
ii) Theories of clues how they are connected
iii)Online games and missions
iv) General questions not falling in the above
Yes, please!!! I think that the thread must be locked at the same time as the new threads created. The other new thread never took off, because everyone was still posting here. I created a new thread consolidating hints for the games. Put all your game questions and hints here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=27256

Janus connections

#7: Maria Maraposa - Janus
Guard the hidden; books are full of twists -- Frankenstein source of truth; have wolf heart (see #13)

Found on a beach: My family stretches around the world like a snake eating its own tail.
Above a belly button: The prize is buried beneath years of Cahill pride heavier than stone.
Written on a wall: To London fled Jane Because her spirit was burned -- art sprang from her tears

The first one makes sense as it is talking about the Cahill family and the family is destroying each other trying to find the clues.

What is heavier than stone?

Who is this Jane Maria is talking about and for the art buffs out there, which person had artwork coming from their pain or sadness?

#8: Ophir Dhupam – Janus (see #12)
21-19-20-1-4 translates Ustad = Muslim

Ustad Ahmad Lahauri - architect of Taj Mahal & groundwork @ Red Fort, Delhi

Hollywood star & Janus agent starring in "The Four Quarters of My Heart. Rumour has it that Prateek Ghupta, Ophir's agent, true power

The Four Quarters = heart made of 4 sections = each section for each family
My Heart = see #12 = parents of Katherine, Jane, Thomas, and Luke rolling over in grave thanks to their children's arguing

Have yet to meet Prateek Ghupta

#10: Flying Ace - Janus
Janus branch = do we know where Lufbery went on solo mission?

#11: Hidden Notes - Janus
Code: Dead Aged Face = Could be connection to #4 & #5

Disco Volante (flying disc) Janus hangout. Suspect Janus use music pass messages, no one has figured out how. (see One False Note)

#12: Taj Mahal – Janus (see #Cool
Taj Mahal, Agra, India -- tomb built by Shah Jahan (1600's) beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal died -- most beautiful building -- inlaid w/ carvings & semi-precious gems -- main building divides exactly into 4 sections. Does each section represent each of the 4 branches?

#13: Frankenstein - Janus (see #7)
Frankenstein (1816-1817) by Mary Shelley nee Godwin @ age 19. suspected to be Janus agent, staying in Switzerland w/ Lord Byron & Percy Byssche Shelley. Challenged to ghost story contest. Long suspected book hid clue. Publisher promised to keep Lord Byron away from work being published.

"the dreams of forgotten alchemists." (Chapter 3) (see #65)

#14: Imposters - Janus (see 24)
Jeanne (de Valois-St. Remy) needs to hold her head like the Queen

Count Alessandro Di Cagliostro (AKA Giuseppe Balsalmo) 18th C Janus agent, alchemist, expert forger. Best known for affair with Diamond Necklace (AKA Hope Diamond). Believed helped try steal magnificant diamond Paris jeweller wanted sell to Maria Antoinette, Queen of France. may involved coaching young woman impersonate Maria for theft. Serious interest in French Crown Jewels ... no one will say why.

This is the card that has most intrigued me as it wasn't Jeanne who impersonated the Queen, but an actress/prostitute she hired to do the job.

Balsalmo was never proven to be part of the Hope Diamond Affair. Jeanne's husband was caught selling diamonds.

#15: Telegram – Janus (see #4 & #5 & #11)
After the sinking of Titanic, Janus branch intercepted telegram meant for surviving passenger, after fateful night -- is clue at bottom of ocean or did it survive?

Fellow passengers lovely. One girl keeps to herself. (Anne Cahill) Clue still missing

#16: Eagle Eye – Janus (see #72)
Spencer (Langendeon) -- leader of Janus branch

Bob ?? = Malibu
Dermott = exploding sculptures, powder traces along wall read by black light
Garnett = music, fresh organic, farm-fed Finnish hare & fresh squeezed tomoto juice
Bruce = throwing bottles @ people & threatening them over phone middle of night
Kurt = MUSE

Black light already seen and used in Maze of Bones.

She is talking about each branch's greed for power which they think is more important than family unity. I guess that would mean the stone thing.

As for Jane, that could be the Janus founder.

Re: Free Digitized Cards with SASE
39 Clues digital cards by mail

I hope I am doing this right! New to the forum. Thanks for the response. Here are excerpts of what they sent me...

[Your kids can have same cards digitized and to get 6 Book Cards and enter the Book sweepstakes: You can enter the Sweepstakes and receive the 6 Book Cards without buying anything. To receive digital versions of the Cards.... You will
> > receive back the unique ID associated with the Cards for Book #1, Book #2, or Book #3, as indicated on your request, and, when you enter the unique ID online, the 6 Cards will be added to your online collection.
> > Since each book contains the same set of Cards, there is a limit of one mail-in request for Cards for each book.]

I don't know if he/she read/understood my question. I wrote them back to see if I could get ones for book one and two, (since they didn't answer that question) but they didn't read the question again and sent a different answer. Sheesh, this is Scholastic - you think they would read! Smile Anyway, the person did say that both my kids could use the codes. ??
Miriam

Quote:

I have requested codes for book 1 and for book 2. They took about 2 weeks to receive (maybe more with the holidays). I also have requested 7 sets of the digital codes in Card Pack 1. I finally got card 60, but I'm still missing 6 virtual cards, so I'll probably ask for another 4 packs soon.

so that's 9 SASE envelopes, each inside a stamped envelope. So I have spent about $7.50 on stamps and borrowed audio books from the library.
I don't know what the person at scholastic meant by the codes not being unique. When I enter my code from book 1 to a new account (23RGD7NDXX) all I get is the surveillance card, not all 6 book one cards (1-6). And it won't let me enter my book 2 code at all. So unless they've got something on the back end where they let the code be entered twice, I'd suggest sending in enough requests for everyone.

Can you give us the exact quote where they said the codes were not unique?

Note: the virtual codes that you get don't tell you what card they are for.. so I ended up entering 2 or 3 of some cards. I remembered that there was a way to tell what the card was with the last 2 characters, so I re-created the chart, and now only enter the card codes that I need.

About halfway down the http://www.the39clues.com/info/prizes/usa page, there is a section called
THE 39 CLUES EPISODES #1, #2, AND #3 CONTEST
Subsection 4 describes how you can request both the card packs and the book codes. (there is also a subsection 4 referring to the Sweepstakes, but it only mentions the book codes address)
Don't forget to include your username & e-mail address. If you aren't in the US, there are similar links for other countries http://www.the39clues.com/info/prizes
