me too

I also sent in a mail in request for the codes from the cards that came with book 1 and for 1 pack of card codes. I did this mostly out of couriosity to see what I would get back (I have the book cards and most of the cards in the set). I haven't recieved mine yet either (however, like I did with the Library Edition, I will post my findings when I get them to this thread).

Have you added the 9 codes from the sharable 400+ cards yet? You can find them above in this thread. You can also add my survalence codes (below in my sig) if you want.... but that won't get you card #3 unfortunalty.

My surveillance camera codes are 22FC46MJX2 and 237DRWJJX2... use them and pass them on!

Interesting. I didn't think it would take them long to send it back but perhaps Scholastic is flooded with requests/entries? Smile

Yup, I've added all the sharable 400 codes and I've solved all the clues (in "my profile") to date. Hopefully I'll get the digital codes later this week. Very Happy

Sorry for the double post (as a guest, I don't have edit/delete post option)!

I meant to say code instead of clues (bold for emphasis). The whole cards and clues thing is slightly confusing. I'm hoping that as the game progresses, their purpose will be more defined and distinct. Smile

Re: Card combinations...

Greetings all,

I am guessing that we are approaching the end of our "training" (I am thinking Thursday next week should be the last day... or if not then a week from Thursday). So, I have been doing a bit of research into how we are going to get clues (most of which came from the FAQ section and Prize rules).

So far, I have got the follwoing ways to unlock clues:

  • There will be 1 clue for each book (for Book 1, it seems this was solving card 3 that came with book 1).
  • You will be able to combine cards to get clues
  • Completing missions (possibly using cards that we have to unlock secret areas that may or may not open the door to a clue)

This got me thinking about the second item. What card combinations do you think are valid. I will start the ball rolling with one:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
#46 Poison Ring
#47 Snake Charmer
(plus maybe an Lucian Agent or Founder if those two alone don't do it)

I have some others, but lets see if we can get the ball rolling. If noone responce, I will list the rest I have.

If they allow crossing over the branches:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
#27 Loch Ness -- Ekatrina
#49 Paul Addison -- Tomas
#50 Henry Heinrichson -- Tomas

card codes

If you are looking for codes to enter, you can use the 9 codes earlier in this post for the 400+ cards we have collected. You can also enter the two codes in my signature at the bottom of this post.

You can also buy card packs to get cards with codes on them, or you can send a self addressed stamped envelope to 39 clues to get 16 codes for free. The address is also earlier in this chain or you can get it on the 39 Clues FAQ.

Hope this helps

how are folks storing their cards?

I was wondering how folks are storing their cards. I am used to either putting card collections in "page holders" that hold 9 cards and fit into a binder. Or if not that, then a standard card box. But these 39 clues cards are an anoying size (about the size of 2 normal sized cards side by side.... but not quite). I was wondeing how are folks storing them?

Um... I believe you get the 1st clue from just entering the code for the book. The clue described in the Catacombs card is suposed to be poor Richard's almanac. I emailed scolastic and they said the tech team is working on it. You're supposed to have a maximum of 2 clues right now but it's not working.

Combinations

I think that a plausible combination of cards would be:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Telegram - Janus
George McLain - Tomas
The Titanic - Lucian

I'm still looking at other combinations to see what I get and where they lead me.

 Card #55

Has anyone else tried emailing the address on Card #55?

e-mail

Yup - I have tried both the e-mail address on 55 as well as the one on 49. Both retured errors to me as being undeliberable. However, 39 Clues does seem to have secured the URLs of:

www.nessielives.com
www.friendsoftheorder.com

Nothing too interesting there though.

I just bought this book and some cards for my daughter over the weekend. I havent had a chance to go into the online stuff much yet so I was wondering: Is the online content and game something designed for a 10 year old to solve or am I going to need to be very involved to get her through?

The puzzles can be considered Easy for adults, as they are designed for children/youth. This campaign and book series is planned to go until 2010, so I think it's a safe bet to say parents can follow along, and even have fun themselves (a great tool to teach your kids and inspire their creativity and imagination, IMO), especially if they like puzzles and mysteries. (and it would take even more dedication if they really want to try to win any of the prizes!)
But yeah, the online component I think might take a lot of time, outside reading the books, and it's definitely designed for children Smile. It looks like some parts of the game might stray off of the39clues.com to some external sites too.
