Couldn't have said it better myself!

After being berated by Morbus, I went to make a few corrections to the wiki. I royally screwed up a page, because I didn't know how to do it correctly. I flailed for awhile before I was able to straighten it out. If everyone tried to edit the wiki, I am sure that it would be in quite a sad shape.

Re: Madrigals & MIB

The Madrigals & MIB, at this time to me, seem to be 1 & the same. There appears to be no danger from either.
While I agree with you that there is no danger from either, I disagree that Madrigal=MIB. I miss/forget alot, though. Do you have anything specific to point to that supports your point?

I don't know how to explain it, but I sense the Madrigals/MIB to be somethng like a "referee" or a "clues watcher". Someone who knows where the clues are, they are safe, and to make sure they are found by those who provide the best means of "goodness" to all. It's just a guess!
Did you read my post about our MIB being sort of like the MIB movie? We have seen that McIntyre cleans up Grace's messes (i.e., in the audiobook bonus). I am curious if you think that idea might mesh with yours.

My Man in Black Theory

I agree that the MIB may be our long lost brother, Fiske Cahill. The thing is, he knows his way around the house and probably the secret rooms and passages too because he lived there with Grace when he was young.

Then, maybe the four branches of the Cahills or the Madrigals wanted to kill Fiske so maybe thats why he vanished like our Janus brother Harry Houdini.

Fiske could have been a Madrigal. These Madrigals are quite good at pretending to be Cahills, so Fiske could have become a Madrigal to get training to infiltrate the other branches and gather their secrets. Then, he could have betrayed the Madrigals and had to disappear for his own safety. He disappeared even though he would break Grace's heart, to save his family and himself from harm.

He might have been chased because he knew too much about some Cahill secret. Possibly the 39 Clues.

While Fiske was escaping his killers, he may have gathered secrets about Cahills around the world and of the other branches. He might have made some allies, such as William McIntyre, but whether Grace knew where he was alive and well is unknown.

In the end, its up to you what you think of the Man In Black.

No MIB at my home! (thank goodness) Good luck with your card 60. I hope you get lots of packs of cards.

Alice, I agree that McIntyre is some sort of a "cleaner/watchdog" I am leaning towards that with the MIB as well. But Like it's been said before, at book 2 it is still too early to tell.

I like the hook of an unknown entity in this. It keeps us on our toes and keeps you wanting more. We need an answer! I just hope they tell us who the MIB is by book 10.

What if the Scholastic people dont reveal the answer to the mystery of the MIB and announce that they will release ANOTHER 10 books to answer the mystery of the MIB and others like it.

Or... we may have to get another ultra rare card in the second or third wave of cards to get the answer to our MIB?

First of all, don't give them any ideas...GO EDIT THAT OUT OF YOUR POST!!! Laughing But seriously, I don't think they would do that to the kids. Remember, this is for them not people like Alice and I and a few others on this board.

So that's another $70 worth of card packs. Costly yes, but doable. And besides, I am sure there will be another Ultra Rare card or two coming up. There would have to be to keep people interested. No matter what the publicity says, the cards are a part of the hook. No cards, no clues!

Totally different, but still the same. My daughter loves littlest pet shop. Now, when she first started "collecting" them there were about 200. Expensive, but with birthdays and holidays it was doable. Now, there are over 800 at last count, and this new VIP stuffed animal thing and houses and the list goes on. Or my own collectin of cubes. In 1981, there was 1 then in 1982 there were about 20. 27 years later I have 1000's and am still hunting for more.

Those card sales are a given. We are "good" parents, or avid collectors, or fools...you choose the noun phrase that best fits. But we will continue to buy them because here we are only on book 2 and already so absorbed that we are trying to work out the relationship between characters, where they go and what happens next and spending countless hours searching for card codes. Don't lie to yourself, you will continue to buy cards or books or whatever to work out not only the clues, but to answer all the unanswered questions you have. I know I will.

arena 39

Is this new
Quote:
Arena 39: Sharpen your Clue-hunting skills.
There will be ten game episodes — ten chances to prove YOU can beat the Clue-hunting
competition. The Cahill with the highest episode score could be eligible
to win cash prizes!

Or did I miss this the entire time? I was reading a press release from Scholastic today and a new game is to be opened each week in Arena 39. What happened to that? Does anyone know?

That quote doesn't look new to me. Perhaps in the future there will be a new game per week, but they posted them all at once because we were clamoring for more. I did a search in the forum and as best I can tell, Thursday 20 November around 3pm (my time) is when Arena 39 was created. If one game per week had been released, we would be due a new one today. Perhaps a little later today? I know it is unlikely -- that would mean that ppl worked Christmas day.

BTW, one thing that I did uncover in "conversations" with Gavin at the help desk was that they are not capable of fixing any bugs in the games. Apparently, they sub-contracted that work.

What part are you having difficulty with? Did you find all 5 pieces of the secret code?

you know how on all the bookstore sites they have the synopsis of the book? well here it is for book four from amazon
Quote:
A Clue found in Book 3 sends Amy and Dan jetting off to find out just what's behind the fierce rivalry between the Tomas and Ekaterina branches of the Cahill family. Was a Clue stolen from the Tomas branch? Where is it now? And most important, can Amy and Dan get their hands on it before their rivals do?

It's a wild race that will take Amy and Dan deep into the bowels of the earth . . . and right into the hands of the enemy

deep into the bowels of the earth? There seems to be a recurring theme of underground and caves here. But it is always a good place to hide something.

 Sub contracted games
i should have guessed

If you go to miniclip.com, you will see that there is a game called stunt pilot, and i think one similar to the submarine game. i had wondered if scholastic had had other people create their games... oh well.

It even has the same music! I tried to play and it is much more difficult than what we have to play. Did you look to see if any of our other games are there?

well...
http://www.rocksolidarcade.com/ has both flying games. but I guess miniclip also does. The site I found also has two versions of the stunt pilot game. One version that is more like what we have to play and one that is like what's on miniclip.

I found a different version of skeet shoot here: http://www.1041jackfm.com/image/kzjk/UserFiles/Flash/games/skeet.swf

I found decoder here: http://www.greatdaygames.com/games/decoder.aspx it even has the same music!

Couldn't find lab rat though.

doesn't google make life so much easier?
