Re: Fiske Cahill is the MIB
Further evidence found to support this basis

And here I go again, back to that Carnival Card again. That darn guy dressed & masked in black is a Cahill. I must admit, I don't know if he represents a combo of all 4 branches or he doesn't represent any. Since is he standing in the background, I believe the latter. That figure is a Madrigal dressed in BLACK & in the shadows & darkness - Just the way MIB & Wm. McIntyre like it.

I fully agree with this idea. I get the feeling the elusive Madrigals are the Cahills, a combination of the four branches and their talents. All the Cahill cards are black. Cahill cards 61, 62, 64, and 67 all have something to do with the four branches.
Grace seems to have talents from several branches: scientist, explorer, coded messages, collector of art and books. She also met with people that had occupations that are known to be involved with the four branches.
As far as Dan and Amy, they seem like Grace to a lesser extent. Grace was making sure that they learned a wide variety of skills trying to prepare them for the hunt.
All the other branches seem to focus on a few talents while the ones we only know as Cahills are much more diverse.

Some interesting thoughts on William McIntyre

The picture for the law firm is two shadowed men and the motto "…for people who value their privacy—or have a lot to hide." http://www.the39clues.com/cahillweb/article/mcintyre-macarthur-mulligan-and-smood-attorneys-at-law

Also from: http://www.the39clues.com/cahillweb/article/tomas-archives-heinrich-heinrichson-report
Attleboro
I spied on McIntyre by hiding outside the old lady's estate. I used infrared binoculars to see him and saw he was packing a suitcase.
Since when do lawyers live with their clients?

That report also mentions
Paris
Afterward, he "snuck" into the Lucian stronghold in Passy. I was surprised by this because if he got caught, they would hurt him real bad. I think maybe he has some deal with them. Why else would he risk it?

Makes a person wonder..................

At this point, we don't know that there is anything to look for. It could be that there won't be anything, or it's just that they haven't set it up yet. It's all speculation what sharing your card code will do right now.

Madrigals Referees

I doubt the Madrigals are referees. In the Ekat archives there is something about evidence of madrigal activity. My opinion is that they are trying to stop any Cahills from getting the clues. They seem to vandalize places, but my thought is that this is to distract from their real cause- stealing clues.

Also, katsmom, my friend lost his camera card, as well as all the cards he had bought, so you will have to wait for the code. Embarassed

I can't access the Ekat Archive. Can't find it in Search. So please explain about this madrigal activity that leads you believe they are stealing clues, vandalizing places & preventing the Cahills from getting the clues.

Some interesting thoughts on William McIntyre

Hi Sheadeel. Happy New Year! Yes, very interesting about "Bill." Wink

Also, funny that he always seems to show up unexpectedly in places that Dan and Amy would never expect him to be ... funny they have not yet questioned his mysterious appearances ... which right now to both Dan and Amy seem to be a reassurance for them ... a "trustworthy" presence since he was a long-time confidante of Grace ...

This will be interesting to take note as the books progress as to when Amy and Dan catch on about McIntyre's presence and how he constantly seems to be shawdowing them. ...Remembering his words, "Trust no one."

--------------------

On another note ... School started today! I have begun to read the 39 Clues to my class. I have 9 more days to finish it with them, as I teach a special class and get a new group of kids every 2 weeks. The goal is to increase their math and reading skills 100 points in 8 days ... getting them to be at grade level or at least closer to where they should be at so they don't get too lost. The kids I teach are not economically advantaged so I try to be generous when I can. I am having each child register on the 39 clues site, and some of them will pursue the hunt and others, well ... they would rather take the million dollars and be done.

I need to email Scholastic to see if I can enclose multi-envelopes individually addressed with the child's name and Cahill name with an overnight return envelope, where Scholastic would give the cards (?) codes, combining them together and putting them in the overnight envelope so we can get the codes as soon as possible ... then I'll continue this process with some of my other classes whereas if we get enough interest we can form an afterschool club as Miss M has done.

Kat, I love the idea that you have created a board game to play. I may want to do the same ... the possibilities are endless. Tomorrow I will give the kids their first lesson on codebreaking.

As we get codes, I'll be sure to share. I have not yet spoken to my nephew but will soon. And for the kids that are really taking an interest, next week when we have our end of Interesession party (I let the kids choose prizes (notebooks, folders, pencils, pencilbags, and some other non-educatonal stuff) depending on how well they have done, 2 kids will walk away with their own new MOB book.

Let the hunt begin ... LOL
Cheers all! Happy Tuesday.

Madrigal Activity

They leave a big "M" at historical sites, Egypt for example. This just doesn't seem to explain why Cahills are afraid of them, so I assumed they had a bigger cause.

Other than Beacon Hill, Maze of Bones.

Maggie - I've been going over old posts in the thread and adding them into the wiki. Whilst Beacon Hill is never actually mentioned in Maze of Bones, Dan and Amy both originate from Boston, Massachusetts, and Beacon Hill is a neighborhood therein. It's likely that someone just photo'd him in Boston, prior to the Maze of Bones getting started.

Now, one would ask: why is someone photographing Dan BEFORE the family knew about the 39 Clues or Grace's death (it's unlikely that this photograph was taken after the funeral and before Philadelphia, as there just wasn't enough time for random gallavanting)? I'd answer that simply: everyone seems to know that Dan and Amy are "the ones to beat", the most dangerous or "likely" to solve the mystery. The only way they could have known this, at Maze of Bones time, was if they had been doing prior reconnaissance on family members, which is entirely within reason due to the nature of the branches (plus, other family members knew of D&A's regular get-togethers with Grace, notably the Kabras).

Nope, we've got it. Check the wiki for everything we know.

Frankenstein

Okay, not to change the subject completely......
But this just needs to be discussed.
I think Frankenstein is going to be a very important part of the plot.
Does anybody have any ideas about it? I put my big "gold" thing on another forum, the theory thing. But here it is anyways for those that haven't seen it.

Quote:
One thing to think about is the gold theory. The theory that the ultimate power is being able to create gold. I have some proof that that is a reasonable theory. Listen to this.

Quote:
Dear Mrs. Shelley,

I am writing to confirm the receipt of your urgent letter. We have not yet begun to print "Frankenstein," but are scheduled to start tomorrow. it is highly irregular to make a change this late. However, the tone of your letter suggest that this correction means a great deal to you, therefore I will make the adjustments.
I must say that I was surprised by the arrival of your letter. i found it rather frightening when a hooded figure approached me on the street holding a letter. Why could you not send it through the post?
I shall add these strange lines about the "dreams of forgotten alchemists" and the others, although I have no idea what they mean. I will also honour your equally strange request to keep Lord Byron away from the printing premises. You certainly keep strange company.

Yours Sincerely,

J. Harding

There was also a note attached that said:

Chapter 13-
1st sentence

I looked up what the sentence was online, and this was it.

Quote:
"I now hasten to the more moving part of my story. I shall relate
events that impressed me with feelings which, from what I had been,
have made me what I am.

Any ideas? I'm lost at this point.
But that's why I'm sticking behind the gold theory.

Happy New Year to you as well, BlueDawg!! Thank you for helping me add to my list of Bizarre Bill's Behaviors. Mr. Green

I am truly enjoying this series because of the twists, turns, and obscure facts that are waiting to be revealed. I have been doing quite a bit of research on various topics presented in the book, and I am impressed with the way Scholastic has intertwined so many hidden clues and facts into this tale. I doubt that most people will do anything more than scratch the surface of what could be learned from a little further investigation.

Shocked 2 weeks Question How many are in your group at a time Question Worshippy I respect and admire you. Rock On

That is a challenge. I watch 'my kids' (my students) show improvement with 180 days of differentiated instruction and intervention, yet continue to fall further behind year after year. Crying or Very sad
