"Klose Encounters" is a play on words.

his name is Gordon Klose.
a "Close Encounter" is a phrase which means seeing a UFO.
became popular with the move "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"

I think the question was really about whether or not there was any significance to his card being card number 39.

Could be just a fluke that his card is number 39.

Famous character in book 3

I was looking at wikipedia's article about the 39 clues and i saw this part about TST.

Quote:
The Sword Thief is the third book in the series. It is being written by Peter Lerangis and will come out on March 3, 2009. In the book, Amy and Dan track the life of one of the world's most fearsome warriors in Tokyo, in a bid to uncover whether he is a Cahill, and if he possessed a Clue.

I thought i'll just google for famous japanese samurais and Voila! A guy called Miyamoto Musashi kept popping up as "Japan's most famous samurai". As said in one of his biographies below:

Quote:
He was noted in this regard for his skill at handling two swords at once.

This seems to fit the description of the clue in OFN. Plus... this part near the bottom that says:

Quote:
Musashi's own book, the Gorin no Shô, was quite well thought of in the United States during the 1980's.

It makes me think that Scholastic would probably know about him and maybe use him as the main famous character in the third book.

What do you all think?

P.S: The site i used was http://wiki.samurai-archives.com/index.php?title=Miyamoto_Musashi

Book 4

Quote Frome Target.com
Quote:
A Clue found in Book 3 sends Amy and Dan jetting off to find out just what's behind the fierce rivalry between the Tomas and Ekaterina branches of the Cahill family. Was a Clue stolen from the Tomas branch? Where is it now? And most important, can Amy and Dan get their hands on it before their rivals do?

It's a wild race that will take Amy and Dan deep into the bowels of the earth . . . and right into the hands of the enemy.

I found this on target.com

When i saw this part of the synopsis, "And most important, can Amy and Dan get their hands on it before their rivals do?", i was thinking.

What are the chances that Amy and Dan WONT get the clue? In my experience, the heroes usually win 99.9% of the time.

Let me guess. Amy and Dan travel to Tokyo, and get caught in the catacombs.

No catacombs in Tokyo, but Japan does have caves. Not sure if any would be anywhere near the capital, but there's always a shot.

My personal guess is that the bowels of the earth will be the Tomas headquarters that's there. They've gotten in and out of a branch's stronghold every book. Why not keep up the pattern?

It looks like all 4 branches will be broken into by Amy and Dan. Isnt it a bit dumb that their security is that terrible that it can be broken into by a couple of kids? The 4 branches deserve to have their clue stolen.

Maybe Amy and Dan will break into a Madrigal stronghold in the fifith book.

Two new blank card spots just popped up in the cards section. Do I hear any bets or wagers on what the two new cards will be? Any bets? Any bets? Any bets? Very Happy
