Good Morning!

My friend's daughter and I decided to play the game together and we are having a problem entering the correct code into the "Sharp Shooter" challenge. Is anyone else having this problem (or did you?)

Thanks in advance!

We had the same problem with todays solve, the 'my profile' page did not recognise the five letter solve. We thought that we had mis-read at first and tried EIGHT just in case >< but to no avail, we will be trying later, again today, and be contacting CS if no joy.

Thanks Maggie....I will look harder, but after we finish the challenge, it gives us a five letter word (not sure how to use spoilers, lol) to enter into our profile. I'm going to recheck now though.

I think maggie is making ref to a card code, not the solve for the sharpshooter mission.

Sharp Shooter

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the replies. We also tried to enter the word in the 10 digit form, using the Walmart Code breaker, but that did not work either. Guess we'll have to try later.

Thanks! Smile

Same here. The code it gave me didn't work. Played the sharp shooter game a second time. Still didn't work. I also tried FLIGHT, FRIGHT, and EIGHT. neither did all lower case letters. I'm sure they'll fix it in the next few days.
maybe.

hmmm- looking back at past codes, it needs to be 5 characters. I don't know how they could have screwed it up.

...not sure where everyone's entering codes here...

the document examination game that gives a 5 letter word needs to be entereing in the profile page; the card 10 digit codes need to be entered in the cards page. If that's what y'all are doing, and it's not working, and you've verified the word and code, then there's a problem...

I believe there should be two 'find the secret code' games, the pilot training, and now the sharp shooter game - 4 codes to be entered in My Profile.

eta: doing the shooter game now
eta2: ahhh I see the problem now. yeah, 'fight' isn't working... blah

Borders Card

Here's a code everyone can use directly from Borders: G69CKR3K9T.

If you are not interested in collecting cards, go to Wikipedia.org. If you know the card names, all the information used came off their website, just cleaned up and shortened for what was needed; example: the cipher used by Ekatrina: I went on wikipedia for more information and found myself looking at the exact same example.

Welcome Maggie! Glad you registered!

I'm not sure what you are talking about though -- you are right that Wikipedia already has a page here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_39_Clues that lists all the card names and types, but it doesn't seem to give any information about ciphers and such...

What I meant was, if you put the code in from above, it will give you #405 Surveillance. When you look at the code for Ekatrina it is called the Railroad cipher. When I went looking for more information, I found the exact same example as was given. When I went looking for more information on other cards, I found the exact same thing, the same information, but cleaned up and shortened.

I am sure other ciphers will be used.

On the My Clues page, does anyone have anything other than one "clues to unlock" and I guess 38 "Clues Still Missing"?

Yes, and I'm guessing that the clues will become available during the course of each book's release... that is, with book 1 having Dan and Amy deal with the first two clues, the 2nd clue will appear online sometime before the 2nd book is released.
However many clues are revealed in book two will be revealed over the time before book three, etc, etc... that just my theory.

Yeah but how do you unlock the clue? there's nothing on that page to do anything with?

My understanding was that the clue didn't become "officially" unlocked until I solved card #3, the Catacombs. (which makes sense, if you've read the book)

However, it was confusing because in reality the clue seemed unlocked even before I actually did anything.

I would hate to be an 8 year old trying to figure all of this out. Actually, I take that back -- 8 year olds are probably better at this than I am.

Not having bought book or cards probably hinders me then, I've only been doing the stuff online. Might have to go and buy the book for my daughter tomorrow then ...cough.....

yeah, the clue is actually unlocked once you register the cards that come in the book, and solve the card puzzle(s).

"My Clues" is the book portion of the game
"The Game" is the online portion
"My Cards" is the collectible/puzzle portion

As they say in the faqs and whatnot, you can read the book series for pure entertainment, but if you want a chance to win the grand prize, you have to buy all the books, collect the cards, and play the online games; basically, everything.

Each of those portions are, in theory, separate from each other... but I'm betting there will be some active crossovers at some point.

I'm interested to see how the combining of cards will be implemented and what that'll give players... or how the money, prestige, and replicator cards will be put in play. Considering there was a hidden message in the book page numbers that really has no point other than being mysteriously hidden, I think there's going to be a lot more coming in this game =)

Yeah, it's a lot for a child to do and pick up, but then, it's a big grand prize. Those are never easy to win Smile
Even so, if parents are following along and helping, it'll be a lot more accessible, even with that learning curve...
