Man that book looks like it's going to be long and thrillful. I bet Ian will find out the truth about his mother and join the madrigals

Ya it seemed like he was gonna go into a secret stonghold. Probably about the Vespers, right?

 OH MY GOD!
Into the Gauntlet

I've browsed through this thread (not the whole thing, but parts of it), but never posted here until now. (Thank god this site lets guests post...)

I have ground-breaking news! I know it's only August 27, but a bookstore in a town only an hour's drive from where I live, is carrying copies of Into the Gauntlet! I kid you not! Shocked

I'm on my way out there in a few moments to get the book!

The final push

Lucians—
We're approaching a crucial moment in our history. In the next few days, you're going to have to ask yourselves a life changing question: How far are you willing to go to find the final Clues?

For those of you sitting there twiddling your thumbs, I'll make it easy for you. The answer is: WHATEVER IT TAKES.

For the past 500 years, our ancestors have shaped the world through their hunt for the 39 Clues. They've overthrown kings, toppled empires, and even waged war in pursuit of the most precious items on earth. But the Clues are more than a mere hidden treasure. They are the key to our destiny.

Lucians are born to lead. We're made to rule. And with the power of the 39 Clues, we'll be unstoppable. Because of you, we're almost unbearably close to assembling all the Clues. And soon, if everything goes according to plan, we'll be in the position to seize the remaining Clues from our enemies.

You've all done incredible work on the hunt. We can't back down now. The other branches are growing desperate, and I suspect there may be some last minute surprises.

I'm ordering all active agents to accompany me to England. Ian, Natalie, and I will need your help.

I hope you're ready. There will be no second chances.

— Isabel

I think I will e-mail her back and tell her the last clue is probably Jade, or Fire, or Red Snapper, and if she tells me the other 38 clues, I can probably test all three on myself and two of my cousins.

 Updates
About Into the Gauntlet

I'm back, and I have the book (in fact, I've already read the whole thing)! I'm here to post updates about it.

First, a lot of rumors are true, and apparent from the very beginning. Meanwhile, a lot are false.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ian is not breaking into a Vesper stronghold, but is actually breaking into a secret wing in his own house, containing precious Kabra secrets! In fact, the Vespers aren't even implied until the very end, after the last Clue is discovered.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Sinead Starling and her siblings, Ned and Ted, are present from almost the beginning, and play a large role in the hunt for the final Clue. Card #220, "The Last Chance", even shows a picture of Sinead.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A theory stated earlier in this thread is true: The lead has to do with Shakespeare. In fact, the hints about Shakespeare even lead them to the Madrigal stronghold, the location of the final Clue.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Contrary to popular belief, Vikram Kabra and Ivan Kleister do NOT appear in this book. Amy and Dan NEVER form an alliance with Isabel.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Unusually, none of the cards that came with the book will work, as their code isn't yet valid. I presume I'll have to wait until August 31, the official release date, to input the codes and unlock the last Clue.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Certainly. The cards are numbered 220 through 225. They show images of 6 characters in the final area, trying to escape traps set by Isabel Kabra. All cards are Agent cards. They all have crosshairs in the dead center, likely signifying the gun brandished by Isabel Kabra.

Card #220, "The Last Chance", shows a picture of Sinead Starling. Curiously, the card's branch is Cahill, rather than Ekat, even though the Starlings are known Ekats. The letters "ONLY" appear in the lower left-hand corner. On the back is a level 4 puzzle, showing Gideon Cahill's lab burning, and even an image of the old man himself. There is a silhouette of an airplane in the smoke.

Card #221, "The Long Shot", shows a picture of Dan Cahill. The branch is Cahill. The letters "HTTH" appear in the lower left-hand corner.

Card #222, "The Wild Card", shows a picture of Jonah Wizard. The branch is Janus. The letters "EFIG" appear in the lower left-hand corner.

Card #223. "The Loose Cannon", shows a picture of Hamilton Holt. The branch is Tomas. The letters "CANW" appear in the lower left-hand corner, and a red dot with a white border followed by the letters "ETRU" appear in the upper right-hand corner.

Card #224, "The Double-Crosser", shows a picture of Alistair Oh. The branch is Ekat. The letters "THER" appear in the lower left-hand corner, and a red dot with a white border followed by the letters "EEN" appear in the upper right-hand corner.

Card #225, "The Backstabber", shows a picture of Natalie Kabra. The branch is Lucian. The letters "TOGE" appear in the lower left-hand corner, and a red dot with a white border followed by the letters "EMY" appear in the upper right-hand corner.

The cards came in this order: 221 was on top, 222 was below it, followed by 225, 224, 223, and 220, in that order.

The little piece of paper surrounding these cards said "For Madrigals Only" instead of "For Cahill Eyes Only", and this paper was black, with a red border and text, the opposite of the classic red paper with black border/text.

The code? I'm not giving that out! Lucians are smarter than that! (By the way, even though I'm Lucian, I'm not proud of Isabel Kabra being the branch leader. My god, that woman is a nutcase!)

Book 10 Spoilers
Read at your own risk...

I see that no one mentioned what the final Clue is so I shall finally reveal it since I also have the book (Yay! Very Happy ) and for those who have waited too long for this. Very Happy The clue is not red snapper.

The final clue is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Not even a substance. Its the recipe on how to mix the other 38 Clues into the master serum! Laughing

The book is over 300 pages long and it is a book we will enjoy tremendously. Any other questions? Wink

I called in to the bookstore to see when they'd have the book in, and they said it's already in! When I got out there and bought the copy I reserved over the phone, the cashier said they've been in for a few days. Evil or Very Mad

Just a friendly reminder.
It looks like everyone is putting info on the new book in the spoiler quotes, which is great. But it helps if you have a line of un-spoiled text to mention what you are going to talk about, even if it is something like
Code:
"those that have read book 10, what do you think about [spoiler ] ... [/spoiler]"

Patience my friend. Very Happy In my country, Malaysia, the bookstores are quite... unreliable. For example, I didnt get books 5, 6, 7 and 9 until about 2 weeks or even a month later. On the other hand books 4, 8 and 10 were put on the shelves a few days before the official release date. So actually, Im quite lucky this time! Very Happy So relax and hang in there. At least in the U.S, the books come out on time.
