 scoreboard code

I've tried everything I can think of for the scoreboard code! Alas, I can't check out JBBG's suggestion as I don't have all the cards, but usually the book codes can be figured out without them...

Something else that has been bothering me about The Black Book of Buried Secrets... there are several (I think I counted at least four) Cahill (Madrigal?) clues (the morse code clue, Madeline's picture, Ana Kosara's cipher & Hope's grave clue), one? Lucian clue (is there a clue in the gold on p.50? the Isabel Kabra's code, (they give you the answer for this one, but) Winston Churchill's clue), at least three?! Ekat clues (the signal flags, Teodoara Kosara's clue, and the Ekat letter code), at least two (if you include the scoreboard clue) Thomas clues (Annie Mosey's puzzle, and the scoreboard clue), and one, maybe two? Janus clues (Raoul Lufbery's code, if you count that, and Broderick Wizard's time puzzle). Shouldn't all the branches have the same number of puzzles? Oh, and why does Thomas give us a decoder that we don't have to use on p. 118? Am I just overthinking this? Rolling Eyes

I'm back! My computers are all down from a virus and it has been that way for a few months. I may have made a breakthrough in the scoreboard code. When i was giving out the free cards(There will be more) my first puzzle was solved because of the 2 digit code that stays the same for each card. What if Cn9 refers to a group of cards that all have C at the beginning and n9 is the two digit identifier code. I can't check it out because of the computer situation. Also, ISN'T WISESALADIN1 ON THIS FORUM?!!!!! If you are, how did you get mentioned? It is good to be back and i'm sure you are thinking how is this message being sent? I am doing this on my iTouch. Bye/adios/ciao/shalom.

WiseSaladin1 is the Agent Name of Chip Cahill. He posted here last quite some time ago. His Card No. is P226CF3GXP

I was just thinking. Everyone here has solved the time code, right? Well, the key is on the same page as the scoreboard code, and the puzzle itself is in the Janus section of the book. What if a key exists for the scoreboard code somewhere in the Tomas section? It would make sense. I'm too lazy to carefully analyze every page of the Tomas section, though. I've only skimmed through it. Maybe if anyone here is more patient than me (which isn't saying much), they could go through the Tomas section and see if they can find hints.

good idea. ill look for it when i get a chance. another thing i was thinking is that the codes
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
NELLIE IS A TARGET and DAN IS A TARGET
are in the book, why isnt AMY IS A TARGET in there? maybe the scoreboard code is amy is a target? who knows?

I tried that... there are too many characters for that too work Embarassed

edited to say: Sorry about not responding for so long guys! My computer access is limited at best. (Like, right now I'm using my sister's computer while I'm at her house.) I tried to get on at the library, but it wouldn't let me respond. No idea when I'll be able to respond next either. Confused

They both have ties to the vespers, and they both have the same first name.

Did anyone notice that on page 173 of the Black Book of Buried Secrets on Borderick Wizard's coat, a crest with an F on it. He's not a Vesper. How do you solve the digital clock code again? You know, 1:00. 1:30, I can't find it anywhere.

I've looked and looked and still can't find this crest.... where on the jacket is it? Question btw - I'm at my sister's house again - I don't usually post quite so late at night/early in the morning. Embarassed

The crest is right at the bottom of the jacket, very faintly embossed. You can see it engraved into page 174 as well.

I've retired from the Black Book for now, leaving the scoreboard code unsolved. If anyone discovers a critical hint and posts it here, though, you can bet I'll be jumping back into the game.

I just got The Black Book from the library, and skipped to the end.
The scoreboard puzzle

looks like

E Γ c H C n g
o n r C n g

Code:
 __   __             __        __
|    |         |  | |         |  |
|--  |     --  |__| |     --   --|
|    |    |    |  | |    |  |    |
 --  |     --  |  |  --  |  |  --

                __        __
               |         |  |
 --   --   --  |     --   --|
|  | |  | |    |    |  |    |
 --  |  | |     --  |  |  --

There is a Cng on both lines, so they must mean the same thing on each line.

It has a lower case c and an upper case C.
It has a lower case r and an tall r.

I tried googling ERcHCng onrCng, and google suggested "Etching".
Since the tall r could be half of a T, and the tall C could be half of an I

Code:
 __  __ __            __ __        __
|      |         |  |   |         |  |
|--    |     --  |__|   |     --   --|
|      |    |    |  |   |    |  |    |
 --    |     --  |  | -- --  |  |  --

               __ __        __
                 |         |  |
 --   --   --    |     --   --|
|  | |  | |      |    |  |    |
 --  |  | |    -- --  |  |  --

maybe the code says "Etching on Ring"

Cons: I would have done the capital I differently, just made it look like "|"
I would have put a space between the n and r on the bottom line. But everything else looks right.

So is there a Ring in the book?

PS: I've got the audio book for Book 9, so I'll get the bonus track transcribed soon.

Gideon's Golden Ring was mentioned a couple times.
It was a gift from Damien Vesper.
It's in Grace's safety deposit box.
Dan And Amy were caught trying to retrieve it.
They went to Jonah for help.

There was also a suspicious ring on Bae Oh's Finger.
I could do some tests on that.

Another doubtful option is the poison ring. The Lucian one. Not very likely but...eh.
